Mayor Bloomberg yesterday put his foot in his mouth by suggesting homeless shelters are bursting at the seams because anyone can get a bed — even the filthy rich.
“You can arrive in your private jet at Kennedy Airport, take a private limousine and go straight to the shelter system, walk in the door, and we’ve got to give you shelter,” the billionaire mayor fumed on his weekly WOR radio show.
“That’s what the law is. I didn’t write the law.”
He was referring to a decree signed by Mayor Ed Koch 30 years ago that gives free shelter to anyone who says they need it.
Seriously? This guy wants to control soda servings, trans-fats, iPod earbuds, guns, every single aspect of your life, and he comes up with strawman arguments like this to justify his constant nanny-statism and explain away the exploding homeless population in New York.
We'd say we were surprised that New York puts up with this crap, but then what excuse does Chicago have for Burke's similar demonization of salt, trans-fats, energy drinks, etc.

Did anyone know that a recent study concluded that 80%, that is right, eighty percent of NYC public students cannot read at grade level? This Bloomberg character seems to only be worried about what people do in their personal lives. Why is it that no one asks him what he is going to do about another big city school system that does not work?
It's all about the power. These asshats get off on a fact that they can control the masses. Controlling what millions of people can or cannot do, means one thing in my mind: DICTATORSHIP and/or TYRANNY or both combined. It starts from drink sizes etc. and incrementally increases to other things. Clear example is the gun grab movement. Don't fall for this shit people. It's the oldest trick in the book.

I'm not surprised New York puts up with this crap, they're New Yorkers after all. All talk and no walk. As a former resident of Manhattan I can personally attest to the shear pussiness of the population. Most Manhattanites are not native and are transient to some degree or another. The outer boroughs is where the natives live and Bloomberg and the other statists couldn't give a flying !@#% about them. New York = Manhattan, everything else doesn't exit.

Yeah, that is a major problem. I too have noticed how the rich are lined up three deep around the block to lay down on a thin pad on a concrete floor.
When New York was buried, the streets clogged with unplowed snow and uncollected garbage, this Bloomberg is the motherf__r who told infirm elderly people facing a five-flight walk down into an Antarctica-blocked-with-trash-bags to "go take in a Broadway show."
Speaking of which -- there are still unspeakable conditions in NYC senior housing, still no power or water after Hurricane Sandy. Some tenants were "relocated" after weeks in this unbearable situation, and came back to find their apartments looted. This is/was all over the Internet and public radio on the backchannels.

Actually, Bloomberg owned a publishing firm that captured and published financial information and data. Bloomberg Business News is still generating revenues. Bloomberg can still be a socialist and espouse left-wing views (which he does) even as he lives a life that is completely contrary to what he expects the little people (like you and me) to do. He is not only a socialist, he is a hypocritical socialist. BTW, when he worked for an actual investment bank, he got fired. Probably kept nagging the secretaries about drinking too much Coke.
