To Brother James,
As a retired CPD PO may the Lord above move everyone aside for you. As a husband to a beautiful woman who works with your aunt at Oak Lawn HS your family is so very close to us. For all of us still here, a very young hero had his life taken away in the line of duty. The duty only we of the badge know. May the Lord protect and watch over his family.
RIP TROOP> GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY> RET.CPD
Dear god!
God Speed Jim. Shining my boots with tears this morning.
Thanks CPD for all of the heart felt support. R.I.P. Troop
God Bless his family during this most difficult time, he is already in God's Care! Rest in Peace Trooper and Thank You for your service.
My prayers are with the trooper n his family god bless
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast;
There by His love o’ershaded,
Sweetly my soul shall rest.
Trooper, you are in my thoughts and prayers.....
Condolences to and prayers for his family and colleagues, and respect to all who put their lives on the line for all of us civilians. No monetary compensation is enough for y'all running to, on our behalf, what we run away from.
May St. Michael, the Archagnel, embrace you at the gates of heaven.
To-day, the road all runners come,
Shoulder-high we bring you home,
And set you at your threshold down,
Townsman of a stiller town.
It was a beautiful turnout today. Thanks to all the officers including those from out of state that attended. Jim would have loved the send off. I still can't believe he's gone. I'm going to miss him on adjoining patrol. Godspeed my friend.
reading the comments is very heart-wrenching. it is obvious you have touched many lives. i met you before and we both shared the same enthusiasm for the job. i could tell you were a squared away man. i am sure you are in a better place and you will forever be missed. if ISP loses one CPD loses one.
I heard there was a great turnout.
Rest In Peace Trooper

RIP Troop!!!
CPD-You guys are an amazing support, from the initial incident to the respect at the ME's office ! Awesome is an understatement ! His family was blown away ! We are truly a brotherhood ! Thank You !!!
ISP M/Sgt
May perpetual light shine upon him. RIP Trooper.
bless your soul, Troop. RIP.
Incredible turnout today. Trooper Sauter has a well spoken, honest, beautiful family who could not be more proud of the man they lost. Thanks to the ISP for letting a couple coppers from Chicago take part in your goodbye.
God speed Jim.
Just got back from the services. Great turn-out by agencies far and near. Heard the Cook County Sheriff's took over patrol of the tollways so ISP troopers could attend the services. If that's true then the Sheriff's have earned one in my book. CPD was class act as always. Amazing how many out-of-state officers were present. I was sad, but very proud to be the police today.
RIP my brother! Thank you for keeping the tollways safe!
When one IOC us cries we all taste salt.
God speed Trooper.
EOW 3/29/2013.
May his memory be eternal. RIP, Trooper.
What many people don't realize is in District 15 ISP, you pick your shift for the whole year, we don't rotate every few months. There are usually 6-7 troopers in a team. You work everyday with each other in what is called a line patrol so if your zone has a 40 mile patrol you usually have 4 troopers for the 40 miles of interstate on the Tollway. You meet each other at squad rooms, for coffee, to back each other up, eat dinner with each other, and do details together. You become family. Jim was part of my family. We were all close. As a member of Team 19, before Jim left for Air Ops, I had the pleasure of working with him. I can honestly say, I had the pleasure of knowing him. My life was better for knowing Jim. Although he was 5 years younger in his career than me, I admired Jim for who he was. He was a great individual aside from being a cop. I'll miss Jim a ton and I'll miss teasing him. He always took it in stride. He was a gentleman and one of the best human beings I will ever know. He had great faith and I know he's with God. Hold it down up there til I get there Jim. I'll even drink one of those goofy Blue Moons with you.
You former Team 19 teammate.
P.S. can you spot me 450? ;)
May he rest in peace. And prayers for his family, may their grief be eased by their loving memories of their son and husband. Lord, bless them all as well as the rest of your guardians and their families.
Beautiful ceremony and that CPD chopper fly over was awesome! Thanks guys. I had years in my eyes at the 10-42 check. Jimmy, we love ya!

It is true. We at the Sheriff's Police were honored to do this so that all of D-15 could attend. We had enough people that we could have done District Chicago if we were asked to do so.
I pray that we won't have to do this again. Ever.

Sarge,
Tell your guys thank you very much. As a fellow Troop of Jim's, he was for sure honored at CCSPD taking over for us. If we can ever return the favor, which I hope is never, we will.
Troop
