Six Years for Tire Thefts
- A Chicago man was sentenced today in Cook County Circuit Court to six years in prison for stealing spare tires from SUVs at a car dealership in Arlington Heights. Police had used a tracking device to follow the stolen tires.
Terry Haygood, 39, of the 500 block of east 71st Street, pleaded guilty in Rolling Meadows branch court to burglary. Judge Ellen Mandeltort told Haygood the burglary charge was upgraded to a special Class X felony because he had two prior serious felony convictions. Haygood could have been sentenced to up to 30 years.
Haygood was arrested in January after Arlington Heights police placed a tracking device in an exterior spare tire on a car at Arlington Nissan, prosecutors said. When the tire was stolen on Jan. 24, police followed the device to a residence in the 5200 block of south Winchester Avenue, Assistant State’s Attorney Mike Crowe said.
But this last paragraph makes us think that he should have gotten closer to the max:
- Police found Haygood and another man, Abel Villareal-Garcia, and a stash of 1,200 tires stacked in the backyard, prosecutors said.
1,200 tires? And no one in the neighborhood thought it was the least bit suspicious?

If you take a look at the satellite view of the location in Google Maps, you'll note that the second house south of 52nd St. on the west side of the street has a whole lot of tires in the back yard -- and a newly fenced side yard (the fences are not there in the 2011 StreetView). A low res satellite view in Bing Maps shows lots of tires, but they aren't there in the higher res views as you zoom in.
Not suspicious in the ghetto, SOP.
used tire business no?
i guess the cook county court values tires more then the lives of people
In some neighborhoods it is normal to keep 1200 tires in the backyard. 1200 tires... How big is this perp's backyard? Now these animals are going into the burbs to do their "thang". Too bad he wasn't tried at a non cook county court to get a sentence worthy of his background and crime.
The ghetto people don't care for law and order. They just want their free government check, get high, and lay around the house and have as many babies as possible.
And why is VRI protecting these deadbeats??
Cook County couldn't give out a sentence like that. They can't afford to employ their relatives and house criminals too! It's a matter of economics.... Gotta have your priorities set straight......
1,200 tires? And no one in the neighborhood thought it was the least bit suspicious?
Goes to show how bad AH is getting.
No snitching bitch!
Nah, the neighbors thought
his yard was being rented
for storage by NTB or Firestone.
LOL, did they think nobody would notice 1,200 tires missing?
six years for stealing tires--- you can kill someone in crook county and do 10 years--- all you tire thieves better stay out of arlington heights....
my spare tire was just stolen...Maybe I can find it in his backyard?
In 2007 I caught a carreer Burglar with 40 arrests,3 felony convictions,He got 1 year house arrest.
its a start, its not probation
It's funnet Tio Hardiman is complaint that the allegations against him cost him his job. He hasn't been convicted, welcome to our world. How does it feel Tio?
Hazardous waste. Call the EPA and see if they get life in federal prison.
Don't say Perp. It is so New York!
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
1200 X 40 = 48000. At least $48000 from just what we know. Take the FBI crime stat factor into it and get minumum of $480,000.00 before he got caught. Not bad for a 6 year sentence. I highly doubt he wil be paying anyone back. I'm sure he will come out a changed man as he plays basketball and watch cable tv at our expense. Cost of a 9mm jhp? 50 cents. Seeing a changed man back on the street? Priceless!
1200 tires= 6 years- jesse jackass jr steal 750k and they ask for 4 year..
WHAT. THE. FUCK!!!??
