Run From the Cops 5K

Calling all runners. Our suburban brethren are looking to assist the dwindling ranks of World War II veterans to Washington DC so that they are able to see the monument built to honor their service:

  • Love the site. A CPD officer suggested I e-mail the details of the Vernon Hills PD 'Run From the Cops' 5K since you have the voice to really put it out there. We are 100% charitable and 100% run by cops. This year, we are benefiting Honor Flight Chicago and looking to send as many WWII vets to D.C. as possible. The race is taking place on Sunday July 21, 2013 at 8:00 AM here in Vernon Hills and it is run in conjunction with our town carnival. For our event the participating officers actually line up at the back of the crowd to symbolically at least chase the other runners. We offer a discounted rate to all police officers when registering online with the code POLICE2013 ($20 instead of $30). Registration and additional info can be found online at www.runfromthecops5k.com.

Good luck to all participants.

Run from the COPS needs to add a facebook icon, and make sure that their thumbnail shows their logo.

Facebook exposure will make this HUGE.

Im running in it for sure! What a great cause. Too many of these runs do nothing to benefit for-profit organizations. Let me tell you what...I was in DC around the police memorial weekend. If you want to cry like a little baby, go to the WW II memorial and see these hero flights wheeling around our vets, and see them break down and you will be reduced like a baby! I was! Run this race, make a donation, do whatever you can while these guys are still around to be appreciated!

What happens as a matter of daily operations in the ghetto becomes a fundraiser in the suburbs.

Love it.
