Madigan Patsy Withdraws

Ever wonder why Mike Madigan runs almost unopposed and wins handily all the time? It's because he has his patronage army run around and gather signatures for his hand-picked "republican" opponent, who then doesn't even campaign for office, leaving the path open for Mike to roll up huge margins.

But it seems like his precinct captains outsmarted themselves recently:
  • Chicago GOP Victory: Madigan Hand-Picked "Opponent" Withdraws Candidacy.

An hour before Madigan operatives would have been required to testify under oath today, Terrence Goggin, House Speaker Mike Madigan's "Republican" opponent, withdrew his candidacy.

The Chicago Republican Party had challenged Goggin's petitions alleging that they contained several fraudulent signatures. Entire households appeared to have the same handwriting.

The Chicago GOP won the right before a Chicago Board of Elections hearing officer to subpoena Goggin circulators and have them testify under oath about the fraud. Goggin attorney Scott Erdman filed a last-minute motion to quash the subpoenas, but the hearing officer denied the motion. This, apparently, was too much for Mike Madigan, who decided to pull his candidate rather than face such scrutiny.

"He was scared of what his operatives might say under oath," said Chris Cleveland, Vice Chairman of the Chicago GOP. "Why else would he withdraw an hour before the hearing?"

"This isn't over," said Cleveland. "Not only did we find signatures on petitions with similar handwriting, we also found voter registration cards with the same problem. This is a much more serious matter. We're looking into it now."
Voter fraud? In Chicago? Yow.

And the "amusing" fact that no one in the Chicago GOP organization has ever met Goggin, there are no photographs of Goggin in their files, he has run no fundraisers and doesn't seem to do campaign mailings either. It's almost like he was manufactured for the sole purpose of giving Madigan an easy win.

    Textbook example of political fuckery!

The whole of Illinois north of I-70 (roughly East St. Louis to the Illinois/Indiana state line) would become desert if every mature tree was cut into timber for the rightfully large scaffold for elected scoundrels to march the 13 stairs up for citizen's justice.

I think the saddest thing I ever saw on TV news in politics was when President Gerald Ford exited a dinner at a downtown Chicago Hotel.*

The camera preceded him down the hall past crowds and a set of doors and a pathetic round faced man shouted holding his hands out to shake Ford's hand, "Mr. President, I'm (can't think of his name) and I am the Republican Candidate for Mayor of Chicago!"

Gerald Ford must have shaken hands with a thousand people that day and been photographed with as many.

But Ford never even broke stride as he past this poor guy in the hall, or even looked in his direction.

I can see his face but even several minutes of Google searching couldn't turn up his name.

What better way to assure no real candidate is able to get a spot on the ballot and run some type of campaign creating headaches for the local Incumbent.
The Democratic Machine is especially adept at getting possible real Republican challengers kicked off the ballot in favor of their patsies, that is if they exist at all.

When the wilding started in the mall. I would have estimated about a 500 hundred Amish thugs fighting and running like savages. Store locked their doors and security waited until about 25 squad cars from the surrounding areas came and cleared the mall.
One security guard pointed out a large sign that prohibited teens from under 17 being in the mall without a guardian!

And the income tax evasion act. All of those laws were passed to get the real bad guys but then the Feds somehow twisted them to yes on cops. Now tell me that there is no election laws that can't be applied to Madigan and his Patsy's? Someone ought to tell the new US Attorney about grand juries and immunity and how to work it.

    Corrections:

    1) Non-partisan Chicago mayoral elections are a relatively recent development. Richard M. Daley, who was originally elected as the Democratic mayoral nominee, was the first mayoral candidate, running as an incumbent, to be elected in a non-partisan mayoral contest.

    2) Timothy Sheehan was a former Cook County Republican Party Chairman. He also served in the US Congress for about four or five terms when the Northwest Side was still capable of turning out GOP votes. Sheehan lost his Congressional seat to Roman Pucinski in 1958 and ran for mayor against Richard J. Daley in 1959. The 1975 Republican mayoral candidate was Alderman John J. Hoellen. If President Gerald Ford brushed by a mayoral nominee, it was Hoellen because Sheehan ran when Eisenhower was still in the White House.

Unless you work for government, which many do and they are given 12 months of employment, the union wage and a pension with early retirement. As far as the plumbing business going out because of the union, you do not know what you are talking about. They demanded money from the small company, a lot of money and they froze the bank accounts of the company per the union contract. Unions make a lot of money for the leadership and a lot for the political class. Tradesman do fine in states with no union shops. I know, I live in one.

There would be plenty of work out there if people could afford to hire plumbers but the union wage is way too much for most. Plumbers make their money on construction and when that is down they have little work. That is why is costs $200 bucks for a plumber to rod your kitchen sink. That is why home do-it-yourself projects have taken off. Unions are also famous for keeping out minorities which is another topic in itself. Many plumbers are out of work and would take a job at half the wage but are prohibited by the union. This has been proven in states that outlawed closed shops. Union membership fell, dramatically.Look at Michigan for one.

The bad things you hear about bruce are true, because they're true! "Except police and fire?" Are you serious. The whole pension system is used and abused by politicos to fund their bullshit pet projects instead of...oh yeah, funding the pensions! Unions are not the problem if the people run them for the right reasons (the fop doesn't have a good track record endorsing candidates, neither does ctu, but they are at least trying to run their own candidates instead of pissing money away to idiot hacks) Unions are needed now more than ever. This city would gladly let you work 8 days with one day off, on call status, for 50k. Why, to piss tax dollars away on bs social projects and handouts for people that shoot at us. They will convert your pension to 401k( which your boy bruce will make millions off of managing) no union protection for justified shooting, forcing out of job, no seniority. Department support, ha, cops in jail to appease west and south side voters (along with paying them 50$ to vote and show up for public hearings to ensure their political career.
    Tell me you're not serious.

Terry Goggin is a former Pct Captain for 13th Ward Committeeman Mike Madigan. Goggin is a retired Laborer from the Department of Streets and Sanitation and originally worked in the 13th Ward behind a garbage truck and later when to the Division 4 office at 52nd and Western where he worked under former Assistant Division Supt of Sts and San Lou Phillips and a Local 1001 Business Manager Lou Phillips. Goggin was just a quiet guy, but he did not get any promotion, other than just remained in the office under Phillips, but got a lot of overtime. For the most part that was his reward. Goggin ran many times in the 90's, they wanted to see how many would vote against Madigan, no secret on that.
