No Pension Fix for Judges
- Legislation intended to curb the rising cost of public pensions in Illinois would reduce the benefits for recipients, except for the judges.
Judges receive the highest average annual pension of any public employee, yet their benefits would remain untouched, according to legislation introduced by Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan
The nearly 1,000 retired judges earn an average annual pension of more than $112,000. The average public employee retiree draws an average annual pension of about $40,000.
We're pretty sure the legislature hasn't touched their pensions either.

i just had a revelation. No, I'm serious...im a CHUMP. ( for years thinking that maybe-just maybe some things are a little bit on the "up & up". that the crazy conspiracies are just that. but now i realize im the fool. the sheep. Why did i expect anything different).
Pay to Play. Its all the same. Judges given a PENSION FIX for their past and current opinions. Or Rahm, who gave the Comptroller's job to a Guy after the Guy gave Rahm $9,000 for Rahm's political campaign. Illinois politicians are the 'Ruling Class', bold and brazen, right in front of everyone...no shame. And the MEDIA sits it out.
It's simple take care of the Judges then they will vote in your favor when the lawsuits hit. Typical in this shit hole we're stuck in!!
All failed empires were the result of corruption and ego. Just study philosophy and see.
Question, will the judges pension have any worth during the impending civil war?
OT: The salaries of judges were just raised in Tanzania, Congo, Chile, and North Korea. Those are apparently a direct correlation to Illinois. The writing is on the wall.
Old lawyer nearing retirement. USN 6 years (72-78), afterwards railroad ten years (midnights) while getting through college and law school, while wife worked her butt off to raise 4 kids . . . I ain't gonna see that kind of pension. Shit! I guess I should have thrown ethics out the window and gone Dumbocratic! Have a Dem law school classmate who is a Circus Court of Cook County judge (elected unopposed). . . . and she is an idiot, and should not be on the bench. But . . . I guess I am the idiot.
They would never touch a judge's pension. after all, judges are uber-lawyers, and maybe even more self important than politicians.
They know what's best for us.
Madigan has to keep them Black Robes happy, you never know when he might have to appear before one to answer felony charges. Well, we can hope can't we ?

"No Pension Fix for Judges"
---
Oh the "Fix" is in all right, you can be sure of that.
Of course not. It's the old do as I say not as I do.
It's " shared sacrifice" without the sharing part.
When does the fucking revolution begin?!!
RIP Sgt. Tom BRAND - 014th District (also worked in 019) passed away Thursday night.
Wake Sunday
You WILL be missed buddy !!
WTF But cops and firefighters have to pay??? We risk our lives and our families livelihood everyday for what???
The judges are the cause of violence in this city just ask a cop
We have been sold out by
Democrat Bullshit!!! FLOP is no help either but yet will still write tickets and parkers
We're at a Crises Boys and Girls
*The Police are the problem in Chicago... Once we fix them, everything else will fall in place...*
Drink deeply of the anger and wash yourselves in the hatred you have for these less than humans who laugh up their sleeves while destroying the lives of people who thus far did nothing wrong other than play by the rules.
Divesture... It is the heartfelt desire of Rahm, Rauner, Msall et al to rob Policemen of their pensions.
"Sorry Coppers... Your sacrifices in blood, sweat, tears, grief, aggravation, time away from your families and years taken off your lives working a job that regular people run away from, doesn't mean shit to us. We will abrogate any contract and ignore all laws that don't suit our agenda. But you Coppers better not get mad and fight back. You chumps are the only ones left who have to follow any rules and laws. Why so angry? You knew what you were getting into when you signed up to take the job Copper!"
its coming prepare, tick tock...........
sounds like a backroom deal may be in the works to make the judges pension solvent... Can an unfavorable decision be pushed up to a U.S. Court??
Maybe the stick together? Hint Hint?
Begin ? The revolution is almost complete.
All branches of government have been captured and are no longer beholden to the people.
I think the part you are referring to is at the end when they round up and destroy opposition.
Clue !! your living in Mobville Nothing is legitimate here your just a cog in the machine to be used and tossed away This town is for the chosen few and they dangle the inside sport or some good hours and you lap it up while the system is totally working for others like Masters and Hamilton Both will get their CPD Pensions via Cook County
While you'll have to fight for yours
I think this makes it unconstitutional or at least discrimination to State and other Employees. I believe this should be taken out of state for a true decision.
The nearly 1,000 retired judges earn an average annual pension of more than $112,000 while the average public employee retiree draws an average pension of about $40,000
-----
According to the BGA Website Pension Database;
Over 7800 people get a pension worth over $100,000 a year.
Almost 200 get a pension over $200,000 a year.
MANY have 3% compounded COLAS.
We get shit compared to them but we are the enemies.
It's time to SHUT IT DOWN and stop doing anything for a public that despises us!!
The PROBLEM is not the judges or the politicians. The PROBLEM is the VOTERS.
Right, whats good for all of us, should be good for them. If they really want to fix the pension system go and discontinue the pension benefits to all those state reps who collect after one term.
As far as the judges go, go sit in a courtroom sometime. The public would be shocked at the stupidity that dons the black robe. We had one who was changing the speeding tickets of truck drivers to loud muffler convictions so they wouldn't have a moving violation on their CDL. It got so blatant that she ordered all the officers out of the courtroom while she did it.
She really deserves a pension, f-in joke..
Good luck challenging the constitutionality of this bill...
Not yet anyway. The judges get to think they're special and won't be touched. If it's upheld then it's their turn. Got it from a very good source. Most of them are out of touch egomaniacs that think nobody would 'dare' screw with their pensions.
This is just like the bullshit Obamacare. It applies to everyone except the Congress. Pension reform will apply to everyone except the chosen politicians and a select class of those with political clout (judges).
when the revolution happens, the judges will be judged

While I am sure there is "pay to play" going on city politics, I doubt that this is an example. Did you see this guy's bio? I'm sure he was making more money at Citadel than he will with the City. Part of me thinks its good to have someone who was a success in private sector coming to work on the city's finances.
Retirement Benefits
Retirement Benefits
Eligibility
You may retire:
• At age 55 with 8 years of credited service.
• At age 62 with 4 years of credited service.
Your retirement benefit is paid monthly for your lifetime. However, you must apply for benefits in order to receive them. Contact GARS approximately 30 days before your retirement date. Your pension will start on the day following your withdrawal from service.
Your Retirement Benefit
Contributions made before January 1, 1982 were taxed when you received them. Your contributions after January 1, 1982, were not included in your gross income and therefore are not immediately taxable. However, when you begin receiving benefits, you will be taxed on your contributions accordingly.
Your retirement benefit is based on your salary and credited service on your last day of service using the following formula:
3.0% for the first 4 years of service
3.5% for the next 2 years of service
4.0% for the next 2 years of service
4.5% for the next 4 years of service
5.0% for each year after 12 years
The maximum pension payable to a member of GARS is 85% of their final salary with 20 years of service credit.
Example: Assume a member is age 55, has 20 years of credited service, and a final salary of $57,619:
First 4 years x 3.0% = 12.0%
Next 2 years x 3.5% = 7.0%
Next 2 years x 4.0% = 8.0%
Next 4 years X 4.5% = 18.0%
Next 8 years x 5.0% = 40.0%
TOTAL = 85.0%
85.0% x $57,619 = $48,976.15 annually or $4,081.35 a month.
A member terminating service with four to eight years of service credit is eligible for the following pension rates at age 62:
• 4 Years 12%
• 5 Years 15.5%
• 6 Years 19%
• 7 Years 23%
This table illustrates the percentage of salary that GARS members with 8 to 20 years of GARS service credit will receive at age 55.

Annual Pension Increases
If you retire at age 60 or over, you will receive a 3% pension increase every year on January 1 or July 1 following your first full year of retirement. These annual increases are compounded on your previous year’s annuity. Pension increases are not limited to the 85% maximum.
Example: A member is age 55, has 20 years of credited service, and a final salary of $57,619. The initial retirement annuity is $48,976.15 (85% of final salary). The automatic 3% annual increase (not payable until age 60) would be: 3% x $48,976.15 = $1,469.28 annually or $122.44 per month
Accruals
The 3% increase also accrues each January 1st for GARS members who remain in service after age 55 with 20 years of credited service. These increases are payable on January 1 or July 1 following the first full year of retirement at age 60.
Example:
Using the table above, a member retires at age 60 in December 2001 with 25 years of credited service. On January 1, 2003, the member would receive a pension increase of 18%.
Reversionary Annuity
This option reduces your monthly retirement benefit to provide a lifetime income for your survivors after your death. This election should be filed with GARS at least two years prior to your contemplated date of retirement. This benefit is paid in addition to survivor benefits.
Returning to State Employment
If you return to work for the General Assembly Retirement System after retirement, your annuity will be suspended. It is your responsibility to notify GARS immediately of your reemployment.
When Benefits are Paid to You
• You pay no state income tax.
• You will pay federal tax on most benefits. Specific information will be furnished when benefits are payable.
The best tax treatment for you depends on your individual financial situation. GARS advises all members to check with a qualified tax consultant or financial planner before receiving benefits or refunds.
What aren't the reporters doing stories on this?
This is old news. The article this thread is based on is from 18 months ago.

This is the first that I've heard of it, but then again I don't read the Quincy Journal. Funny that I never saw this article in Sun Times or the Tribune ever. It is an absolute indictment of our bought and paid for major newspapers that this had to be dug up from a small southwestern town in Illinois from 18 months ago. Not to mention it seems to be extremely relevant due to this week's passage of the pension reform bill.
I guess equal protection under the law doesn't mean shit in this country. Then these liberals want know what was the motive behind work place violence, stop treating your employees like shit and continually fucking them over!
Judges are suppose to be living in the subcircuit that they were elected to per Mark Suplessa's expose on channel 9 news and he found many not doing so. I wonder what addresses they put on their ethics statements? Anyone lying on that should be dumped and disbarred. If a police officer is caught living outside the city he is fired with no appeal.
JUST A REMINDER
VOTE DEMOCRAT IN THE UPCOMING ELECTION!
Remember that they are working for us to fix the mess that the State is in. No really just ask them. So what if it was their fault, their going to change [this time] just ask them they will tell you the truth.
It's not an effective payoff. If the Illinois Supreme Court upholds the pension fix, the next time around it will apply to them and they will have cut their own throats. They still have an interest in upholding the pension clause in the Ill. Constitution.
You must have a generous pension system for Illinois judges. How else would you get qualified attorneys to take the job? You know that Illinois has the hardest selection process for judge then any other state in the union. Only the best and brightest are selected.
In 21st century America, contracts and the rule of law apparently don't mean anything, at least not if the people at the other end are ordinary workers. So, rather than inconvenience all those rich folks at the Chicago Board of Trade or other highly successful businesses with a larger tax bill, the plan is to stiff the firefighters, the schoolteachers, and the people who collected garbage for 30 years.
It may turn out to be the case that the rich and powerful can just rewrite the rules as they go along. But at least the people should know that theft is now in style when it's their property at stake.
From this great article a good short read.

The fucking revolution begins when you take action instead of waiting for the next guy to do it.
Time to begin "culling the Herd", starting with Democrats...
Rahm's new comptroller also worked for Citadel. Citadel invests 401k money. Citadel's CEO, Kenneth Griffin, gave money to Rahm and Rauner and is also a Rauner campaign advisor.... Watch for the big push to end our pensions and put them in 401ks.
OT: I have left phone messages and Emails for Sid Davis over the way the vet was handled by Dougherty and then how Moriarty threw his name out at the last FOP meeting. I was told the trustees discussed this in executive session so the vet’s name would not be made public. Sid refuses to return my calls and when I finally got a call back it was from Di Maria. He tried to tell this was a setup from start to finish. He said there would be no apology from Bill Dougherty or Jim Moriarty directly to the vet as this was all water under the bridge at this point and was done with. He’s blaming it all on the guy running for 1st vp with Angelo. Davis has forgot our code and has lost his honor. All the stuff about caring about vets was all for show by Sid Davis for his political advancement in FOP.
No vet should vote any of these guys until they acknowledge they have contacted this guy and made peace with him.
Stay safe.
of course, all hail the almighty judges who are far more important than petty police officers, teachers and firemen. translation is that the judges are on the political corruption payroll. illinois, chicago, cook county are all corrupt and soon-to-be complete garbage infested detroit jrs.
Off topic.

and now also showing in White House
I wonder what their funding level of their pensions are
We need to over-throw these assholes already! This is not representation- they don't represent the people, us, they only represent themselves. It's outright stealing, plain and simple. And the very reason why they do not want the people to bear arms. When they turn against the very people who protect them they will be fed to the lions.

Hey Mike Madigan and every other state senator and state rep. Congratulations on preserving your elitist class system. Guess what though, If any reform is good enough for me its good enough for you, the judges and anyone else who collects from a taxpayer funded pension fund. The middle class will only take so much of your elitist bullshit. What goes around comes around.

The woman’s decomposing body was found on her bedroom floor on Hubbard Place in Flatlands about 7:30 p.m. Friday, cops said. She had a rope around her neck, according to police sources.

Its time for the media to start reporting the real facts about the dirt in Illinois! People should be outraged at who gets taken care of and for the reasons behind it. Judges are really just lawyers and politicians. The majority of politicians are lawyers. Why would Illinois politicians take care of the judges? Maybe because they will rule favorably? Its obvious.
Judges are legislators best friends.
Ok, we are living in a country where legislators make laws for everyone else and force them to comply. But they make exceptions for themselves, their friends, their cronies. This in it's very essence is un-American. If people are not pissed by this, then something is horribly wrong.
Bruce Rauner wants to put all judges on a 401K type plan.

O.T. Brad Woods Study Group
I am going to give a honest review of the Brad Woods Study Group. They fucking suck. Let me elaborate. They fucked things up for the first part. Now for part two, they fucked it up even more. I just sat through their morning session and it was a complete waste of my time. I left early. All they did was reiterate nonsensical gibberish. Nothing related to the actual test. Plus they give you their handouts every week. Also they claim that 40 people got opted out of their email list and somehow it's my fault and not theirs. Go figure. When these fuckers give a test prep for the detectives test, et test or any other future tests, stay the fuck away from them. I have coworkers who took Bernstein. Bernstein is a lot of flash and well put together. But in the end, save your dough and study the materials yourself with a small group. If you have a group of 5 to 8 people, you can easily break down the material and then study it.
Democommunist Re-Distribution of YOUR Wealth, NOT Theirs.
So...
Is it ok now for Policemen to fight back?
You see... Out of all the principals involved in this drama, it was only of The Policeman that there ever was any expectation to abide by any rules or laws.
Over all, The Policeman has conducted himself with amazing restraint... Be it at ground level where every else has leave to run away and The Policeman is compelled to run forward, be it administratively against a hierarchy that views The Policeman as a consumable and ultimately disposable asset on the ledger and be it in the final arbiter of all things; the court of public opinion.
"Don't you Cops DARE get angry and hit back... You have rules to abide by..."
No one wants to stop and consider the implications to a society that openly wars against the people who constitute the first line of defense.
It is as if they have the deeply held desire to make The Policeman go away?
"You Cops are strange men with funny thoughts, odd traditions and you annoy us by clinging to your old-fashioned, irrelevant ideals like integrity, justice and fair play."
So... Is this the "new" way of doing things?
Is this the rewriting of The Policeman's societal contract?
Funny... In light of all this, people still have the expectation of The Policeman to carry on as he has for generations.
"Well, you guys knew what you were getting into when you signed up. If you don't like it, quit... There are many who would love to have your job. Besides, being a Cop is easy."
So...
Society is now very comfortable turning it's collective back on The Policeman as a political and media construct?
Give the people what they want then... Even though they have no idea what they're actually asking for.
And for you joyful haters... The current state of affairs is so much more than just the criminal-professional political corporatist class having stolen from Policemen for decades and erecting legal, political and public opinion firewalls to shield themselves from justifiable vengeance...
Much much more...
"How dare you talk that way to us, Cop!"
This is what would be known in other circumstances as a bribe.

Yes, the story was first reported 18 mos. ago, but the judges will now be expected to deliver the goods when the pension lawsuits are filed and brought before the courts. It's news that stays news.
And if you want to totally honest about it, these types of stories get recirculated every several months anyway, only with different players. Because nothing changes in the filth pits of Crook Co. and Illinois.
Btw, judges in Illinois are the second highest paid in the U.S..
Even higher than NY.
Listened to Dougherty explain why he bears no responsibility for Shields not sending the letter. He says it's like you and your partner responding to a burglar alarm, your partner gets out of the car and upon his return he says he wrote a ticket. Later the Sgt. Calls you and wants to know why no ticket was written at the burglar alarm. Bills answer, my partner said he wrote the ticket. OK if Shields was told to send the letter, didn't but said he did then why isn't Dougherty bringing Shields up on charges of telling a lie to the Board. If the Board believed he sent the letter then why did Donahue and Aguilar tell him to send the letter? In Doughertys world it know appears his partner on three occasions said he wrote a ticket but didn't. I think anyone would have said I can't work with this guy he lies to his partner. I could be wrong but why didn't Dougherty do something other than shrug his shoulders? But then again I don't live in Doughertys world. I don't get an extra 2G a month to work a beat car.
The news had at first reported the pension reform would include everyone.
I remember thinking that won't last because as soon as the seal is broke and the know the coast is clear, they would simply amend their own bill to restore the costliest pensilns for themselves.
I didn't think they'd do it this openly but, then again, why not? Who would stop them?
Part of me thinks its good to have someone who was a success in private sector coming to work on the city's finances.
12/07/2013 08:26:00 AM
The part of you that thinks that needs a good wiping, because it clearly shows you don't know shit.
These fuckers who run hedge funds are complete shit, their single focus in life is to dismantle and destroy for the cash value everything they touch.
Hedge funds are the very financial instrument that is attempting to take all the pension money laying around in this country.
You need to spend more time reading what's going on and who's responsible for it, because this little shithead who bought himself a city job was brought here to do one thing, find a way to fuck employees out of more money and destroy their pensions as fast as possible.
Judge Holden is the Devil. If Apache don't kill us, Judge Holden will for sure.

The public does not care about your pension.
The media compares us to private sector jobs but i cant' live where i want, work holidays and mid-nites, and of course i can be fired for numerous thing civilians laugh at.
Most of you don't vote and know little about the contract. Some still don't know how to fill out watch bids after a decade filling it out.
Now everyone thinks the FOP gonna save us. Look whose running for office a wanna be priest, a guy who forgets to mail contracts, another dweeb scared to work in o22 the safest district and the funniest a guy who can't work on the job full time but wants to be president.

Ok buddy to bad hair gels as you call them have a very hard time getting VRI. Try looking at the guys that have a lot if time otj. The same ones that are close to receiving a pension that is in jeopardy.
Judges, school district superintendents, and politicians are the ones sucking the pension system dry. They are trying to convince the public that the problem is from teachers, firefighters, and police officers. A good portion of the public buys into the hot air the politicians are blowing, because they aren't savvy enough to figure it out on their own, and simply believe the politicians hot air. Such a shame.
The bottom line is: why don't this apply to the legislator's and their pensions? Wouldn't that give this bill some legitimacy? Just sayin....
It is way past the time that We The People tar and feather and run out on a rail every single one of these thieving politicians!

All is not what it seems young Jedi knight. Frank did to help his buddy out. By impeding the investigation and then refusing to respond to the Dics phone calls he is killing the investigation of his buddy Jim Moriarty. This is the same goof who at the last general meeting blew the privacy of the recovering vet that Billy tried to strong arm into supporting him with the veiled threat that if you don't back me your medical grievance may get put on the back burner.
Frankie is taking one for the team in that he is also postponing his retirement until after the election so if he wins Billy could just appoint any goof that lost from the city wide team. Bella with all his legal troubles could just sit out the election and then have Frankie's spot handed to him.

Yes. Jim Moriarty taped (100% sure of this) and released (can't prove this as easily but someone conspired with him and it got released) on YouTube the contents of a confidential FOP meeting. What he did was CRIMINAL and he needs to be held responsible. He is a disgrace to the membership. Shields may have effed up withe the letter problem, but Moriarty intentionally tried to torpedo the union by his actions. And then he disclosed the name of the Marine embattled with medical issues at a general meeting?!?! For those that don't know, Moriarty The Rat is a member of the contract negotiating committee. What do you think he might be up to to undermine our contract?? Moriarty needs to face the music. I want to see a CB# attached to his next picture. Fucking asshole.
Any word on the 5 am stabbing today @ 5700 w 62 st ?
"PENSIONS" I want those who read this comment to go to the Hoosier Lottery.com and scroll down to "Where does the money go." Smart Baby gels should hop over to Indiana, at least our fellow brothers and sisters over there have secure pensions!
Word is no more Sgts class. New list will be made then promoted! I guess keep studying for the old listers
Will the one troll who is bashing the study group please stay off the blog. You obviously are not in the class with your nonsense comments. I am actually in the class and you are totally confused... I hope the two groups you keep referencing publish their results and we can see, until then shut up goof.
When does the fucking revolution begin?!!
-----
When the FBI via NSA knocks upon your door and then arrests you. That's when your revolution would begin.
Before that you know it can't. Everyone's revolution is within.
To the d bag bashing the only legitimate study groups out there direct your comments somewhere else. No one needs your negative shit about either group we all joined in order to help us get any edge we can. I am in both groups and both have something to offer. If its not for you then spend your time doing something constructive. I am so sick of the baby bullshit about the test and how unfair it is. Grow up. Its my responsibility to study and do the best I can and anyone who offers any help regardless of how much ill take it. Stop the self pity and woo is me attitude. You are the cancer that our department needs to rid itself of.
So when Judge Timothy Evans leaves the bench, his aldermanic pension will be supplemented by a fat, juicy, judicial pension???
!! Course!! Clouted alwys get the perks you'll get nothing Just like Maters and Hamilton will get their CPD Pensions too they are coded as LEO on County
Where ever you may stand on pension reform in Illinois, I bet it is unlikely that most if not all citizens of Illinois formed their opinion considering the impact of such reforms would have on all retiring or retired State of Illinois civil servants. So why after failing to address this crisis year after year and being unable to reach a middle ground, did our representatives carve out the Judiciary and exempt them from any fixes?
Perhaps they feel guilty bc this will be the first year that Judges will have to contribute to their healthcare insurance costs. Something nearly all of us have been doing forever on much lower salaries.Up until now the fine citizens of Illinois covered all premium costs for all judges.
Is it just me or have our politicians gotten so bad that they don't even bother to pretend they are looking out for our best interests anymore?

As a vet I have to ask what are you talking about.

Good luck in retirement Sid.

The above comment is in indicative of why those in power f**k with us. While you're ranting about nonsensical political ideology the puppets of the 1% have their hands in your pocket doing their very best to lift every penny out of your pocket. Keep being distracted with labels:liberals;conservatives;progressives;takers...by the time you realize it's a charade your money will be gone.

Bruce Rauner wants to put all judges on a 401K type plan.
Rethink who you want to vote for as your next governor.
12/07/2013 12:48:00 PM
Rauner will put you on a 401k plan. You will only get the money you put into the pension fund plus 1% interest. Then you start over.
The governor and every state rep have to get sworn in to their office and during that they must state they will uphold the constitution to the best of their ability… We should be running commercials showing their swearing in and then defining what a public employee is which includes judges and the elected officials themselves on how they willingly and knowingly violated the constitution by not including the judges and also by not funding everyone’s pension but their own. They are special you are not. Clear violation of equal protection rights provided to us in the constitution.
I should be seeing and hearing this every half hour on tv and the radio.
12/07/2013 12:57:00 PM
Woods was a charter member of the inside group of self involved pricks that left us with this mess we have now. He was like Ron Howards goofy looking brother, not very bright but dragged along because of the right connections.
Sorry you guys wasted your time and money.
12/07/2013 02:42:00 PM
I'll vote for Doughtery, just because I don't see them using the bathroom wall to slam candidates. It's obvious that you and all the other moronic posts about Bill are from the crooked "doctors" camp. We don't need another set of childish backstabbing pricks in office, Shields and crew was enough.
It looks as though the FOP could use Sid's knowledge, expertise and compassion right about now.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Are you on crack or his girl friend Whoopi Goldberg?
Compassion? This prick still is saying Dean Angelo and Angelo's 1st vice presidential candidate set up the whole vet thing.
He is no longer involved in FOP? He just got caught falsifying meeting minutes. He still gets a monthly stipend. He and Jim Moriarty have both turned out to be low life's. If they think Dean's Disability is fake then prove it! Otherwise these to assholes should be sued for definition of character which neither of them have. Sid needs to be replaced from the veterans committee too. He refuses to acknowledge what Bill and Jim did was wrong. No code and no honor either.

Are you nuts? Bill may call this blog the bathroom wall but he's here every day. Bill, Aguliar, DiMaria, and Donahue were on this blog every day insulting the Sgt’s union during their contract vote. They laughed at it for months at meetings. That is a fact.
What gall the Citywide guys had coming out to OPLEO. The guy who runs this organization is Jimmy Ade's uncle. They beat up Ade every day on SCC (deservedly too). Shields at least did it in public with interviews. And that’s where Rahm’s hate for Shields comes from.
The Citywide guys were there (OPLEO) looking for votes but not telling the retires how they have a history of trying to get them out of the union. Before Shields knew where FOP was Bill Dougherty 8 years ago talked about how he wanted to triple their dues because of how much per capital was being paid to the state and national lodges. Steve Robbins is Donahue’s neighbor and was his named pick choice for the pension board. After one term Shields beat him. That is where their hate comes from. And this last week the CityWide guys voted in masse to postpone the vote on letting retirees in the union w/o penalty if they missed a year. So they will not be able to vote in this upcoming election.
Maybe you were not around 12 years ago when the CityWide guys attacked Dean Angelo. We did not have SCC back then. But Bill Dougherty and his guys had a sharpies and they WERE writing on the wall in every bathroom in the city against Dean.
Dougherty likes to call this site the bathroom wall so if you use that exact phase I’m guess if you are not Bill you are on his ticket. Bill will never get 50%. In a three or five way race he’s toast. No vet can ever vote for him. No retiree should vote for the CityWide team either. And Dean Angelo will never support Bill nor will Mike Shields so Bill’s a rudderless sinking ship.
With or without a flash mob he’s just a punk and most of us knew that 12 years ago when he showed his true colors with a sharpie or his big mouth. Now he added a keyboard to his list.
It may have taken 12 years but goes around comes around. Life’s a bitch. Right Billy boy?
in New York City.
How would COMSTAT handle this ?
Accidental death - auto-erotic asphyxiation
He was lucky enough to retire because ole Mikey Shields was going to pull a Caparelli move on him and get rid of him.

Rauner will put you on a 401k plan. You will only get the money you put into the pension fund plus 1% interest. Then you start over.

It would apply only to elected offices. Read before you type. A great way to set a policy of term limits.

You have been mis-informed. Sid was launched from the Field Rep position in the office but retains his elected office of Recording Secretary. Sid then retired from the CPD but is still Recording Secretary of the FOP Chicago Lodge 7. As such he sits on the Board of Directors. He continues to be paid whatever stipend the Recording secretary is paid but it is NOT Captain's pay. Trustee gets $600 a month, I don't know what Recording Secretary is paid.
Just don't ask Sid to stand up if you see him. He likely is already standing up and is sensitive about that.

If it was in the back then the Citywide guys should all be persons of interest.
Sounds like Frank DiMaria is taking a page out of the Sid Davis "recoring only what I want to secretary " book . What the hell is wrong with these guys. Do they want to stay in power so much that they will stoop to anything just to save their rat City-Wide Teammate Jim
"the the taper" Moriarity and Saint Bill. Both Sid and Frank are kissing their own elections good-by withthis kind of conduct. Frank , you stood up there at a meeting and professed to want to hang out to dry the RAT that illegally taped the FOP Board meeting and then put the audio of it up on Utube along with the pictures of everyone on the Board Except everyone running with Bill Dougherty. Gee I wonder which team put that post up ? Now I have heard you have expressed to the Detective who has the criminal case against Jim Moriarity that you don't want to sign complaints against any copper. Funny you shure didnt seem to have any such feelings when you were pushing the Puerto Rican Morman Chaplain's case
that Mike Shields tried to "intentionally harm the membership"
by failing to submit a letter on time.Frank really, you are such a phony, Webster's has your picture
next to that word in the Dictionary.
Sid I am really surprised at you, I worked with you back in the day and you never came across to me as a phony but your proven guily of that moniker by your own hand with the last two I think they said sets of minutes that you did. The minutes are not supposed to be fictional Novel Sid. Just
record the actions at the General and Board meetings as they happened. There is not supposed to be any selective journalism.
I don't know guys, Maybe Dean Angelo is right, your time has come and gone. Thanks for the memories.
If you are going to vote for Dougherty just because you don't see them using the bathroom wall to slap candidates it is only because Dougherty broke his crayon. This is the worst, most dirty FOP election I have ever seen on my 26 years on the job, and Bill Dougherty is the worst offender of the whole lot of them.
This whole campaign is shamefull.

SID:
how does it feel to scorned even by the members of your own ticket? You know the rest of the Citywide laugh and make fun of you all the time? You were an outsider who got elected on your own and they just kept you around to balance the ticket. But when you give your report over the years your guys all roll their eyes. I missed a couple of years of meeting while my girls were in high school but when I can back it was the same as when I left.
Do some soul searching Sid. Have they ever really took you into their inner circle? A man with honor and backbone would have said f this and moved on.

If you guys think Dean is a scam artist then prove it. You had your hack at the pension board in Steve Robbins who went along to get along with the city and OUR money. Did he even look at the annual review of Dean's case for the three years Robbins was on the pension board?
No because Steve was too busy giving our pension money to Daley's family and friends to invest!
Now you know how Donahue can make a phone call so Dougherty gets days in 22. Hurley, Vanecko, Davis, the the part of the contract talks the three people had with the city that the rest of core group was excluded from?
Dean's a good guy. Your FOIA request their is pimpy. And it is obvious that you guys have now turn your sights away from Shields and on Dean now. I guess from the prior posting here that Dean and Shields talking to each other like gentlemen scares you storm troopers. Why did Billy skip the PR dinner last night? But he sent Moe, Larry and Curly to spy for him?
Mike Shields and his crew are like a tornado, they create a path of destruction and devastation with their lies and inability in a very short time only to blow away and never be seen again leaving everyone else they came in contact with trying to put the pieces back together and trying to figure out how their retro was sucked up in the tornado.

YOU WOULD LET THE ENTIRE MEMBERSHIP SUFFER SO YOU COULD GET BACK IN POWER.
To the membership demand to find out why Capparelli was really dumped.
Ask why the lawsuits against Donahue's administration were settled for 25 times what the plaintiff asked for. And there are more than one.
Why legal defense was paid out w/o going thru the normal process.
Why most of the core group never met with the city's team for anything of substance.
ASK YOURSELF WHO BENEFITED?
So young Jedi knight if you do not know the answer to these questions don't feel bad. 99% of the membership has no clue.
A former member of the Citywide Team
Most of the public seem to care about the pensions of police and fire, although they think the amount is way too generous. And, it seems most of the public also care about the pensions of teachers but complaint that the retirement age is too young. However, no one I have talked to or things I have read agree that other government employees should even have a pension, let alone such an early retirement age. If governments truly want to cut taxes they need to do a work study on all government jobs, their salary and benefits as they compare to the private sector. Now that would be interesting!!

It was Dean's 1st VP that threw this vet under the bus. Looks to me like the general orders were changed to help this vet. How did Dougherty hurt him? Lets hear from the vet how he was harmed. Sounds like a bunch of political nonsense from the Dean boys.
Its sad Rick that you are on the board and you don't know that charges were brought up on Shields. Shields picked his own committee and he was found not guilty. Now the State is looking into why Shields picked his own committee. If you worked as hard looking for Bear as you do posting lies on SCC you would have found Bear. Shields has got to go!
Steve Robbins is Donahue’s neighbor and was his named pick choice for the pension board. After one term Shields beat him. That is where their hate comes from. And this last week the CityWide guys voted in masse to postpone the vote on letting retirees in the union w/o penalty if they missed a year. SCC I will send you a poster from the last election. It was Mike Shields and Rick King that ran on the same ticket as Steve Robbins. You gotta love how these guys try to distance themselves from the truth.

I don't know if Dean is scamming, but you do have to question why he couldn't come back and work limited duty. We come to work everyday shouldn't he. If you can be FOP president and you can work as a professor at Calumet College while on disability then why can't you work limited duty? These are questions that the men and women in blue will have to ask themselves.

This was mentioned in an editorial that ran in the Chicago Tribune on Aug 10, 2012 titled "Reform Lite? Not enough"
The bill in question, HB1447 affected just two of the five pension systems covered by the state. The three left out were the Teachers Retirement System, the State Universities Retirement System and the Judges' Retirement System. That particular bill never made it to the Gov's desk. This latest bill, an amended bill formerly known as SB 01, NKA Public Act 98-0599, that was passed and signed into law by Gov Jello covers all five I think (the State Employees' Retirement System of Illinois; the Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois; the State Universities Retirement System; the Judges Retirement System of Illinois; and the General Assembly Retirement System). Seriously, I tried reading the actual bill and I started getting a headache.

No way judges are not included in the pension reform bill. Take that to the bank
Whoever said the judges are included in the bill are WRONG Below is a link to an article about it and why they think the judges were excluded by Madigan
Senate Bill 1 does not include the retirement system for judges, likely in an attempt to improve the legislation’s chances of surviving a court challenge on its constitutionality – the Illinois Constitution states that pension benefits “shall not be diminished or impaired.” When former Gov. Rod Blagojevich tried stripping judges of their 3 percent COLAs, they sued, got to hear their own case, and won.
Read the below link if you think judges are included and you will discover why you are wrong

This is what you wrote: "No way judges are not included in the pension reform bill" Did you miss the part about punctuation?
Seems to be a clear statement: "No way judges are not included in the pension reform bill"
