Preckwinkle Won't Back Felons
That isn't to say she doesn't support currently un-convicted felons on the Board....or that she won't work with the felons running should they win election....she just won't endorse them initially:
- Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle said Wednesday she won't be backing either of the two ex-felons running for commissioner seats in the March Democratic primary.
Former city Streets and Sanitation Commissioner Al Sanchez, who did federal prison time for a City Hall job-rigging conviction, is running in a South Side and south suburban district. Preckwinkle said she'll be backing appointed Commissioner Stanley Moore in that contest.
Former 29th Ward Ald. Isaac "Ike" Carothers, who did federal time for taking bribes to influence zoning decisions, is running in a West Side and west suburban district. Preckwinkle said she hasn't picked a candidate for the open-seat contest, but indicated she won't support Carothers.
But hey, if they win, no reason she can't work with them, right? Bygones are bygones, especially in Cook County.
Anyone want to propose a law saying that felons can't run for office again? Or better yet, disbanding the Cook County Board entirely, it being an entirely redundant layer of government.

Democrat politicians are into the "big tent" and "inclusiveness" theories of politics, among other things. That is why so many get elected as opposed to republican politicians who a distinct minority.

The only time I thing they ought to be barred from running for office is if the felony was directly related to or as a result of being in a public office.

The Tribune is investigating should be a felon, Danny Davis and found dozens of "mistakes" in his campaign disclosures, mistakes he is blaming on his volunteer campaign workers. He forgot to mention his wife is the supervisor and treasurer of his campaign workers. If he can not run his campaign offices correctly, how is he going to run anything else correctly? He should not hold any kind of public office and probably can not hold a job down. Too bad these "low infomration" voters keep voting the Dummycrat back into office.

I've been watching the show on life in a Russian prison...
Now THAT'S "paying your debt to society."
But here in the states? F*ck them. They want to be considered 'ex-felons' when they never once served a single day to seriously reflect on the consequences of their criminal behavior?
I've seen what they call rehabilitation in our prisons and county jails.
With the exception of Arpaio's operation, these places are nothing but hangouts, gyms, lounges, and places to do the exact same shit they do on the block. They fight, f*ck, watch tv, sleep, eat, and get high all they want- and for that they want to have their "debt" considered paid?
The day is coming. I'm as sure of it as I'm sure Chicago politicians couldn't be honest to save their life.
The day is coming when the public will have to choose sides because the so-called progressives' demands to break down every understanding of the traditional relationship between action and consequence know no bounds.

school teacher wont back felons and certainly wont keep them in jail either.
Sanchez & Carothers have to run for Cook County office to get a job. After all, Feloney Franks went out of business and there's no place else fit them to go.
Representative government should reflect the community.
Like we are so much better on the north side electing Marge Larino after her father died under indictment before facing justice. And her nephew John D'mico (state rep) , who is the son of scumbags who both got sent to prison for stealing from the tax payers......

This writer has a good point. All races and ethnic groups have had their fair share of corrupt politicians. There are more black and Spanish corrupt politicians now because more are being elected. This is a corrupt town, county and state and people have been proven to be low information voters who vote because of race, or ethnic group and not for the best qualified.

After Dickwinker turns on the soon to be elected ex-cons they'll have to borrow a line from former DC mayor and ex-con Marion Barry who was caught on video with a hoe doing crack in a hotel room.

They have had government jobs their whole life. They don't know how to do anything else. Work? Those two fucks? A former alderman and a Streets & San worker? They need the government sponsored 3 hour work day. Likely the only honest work they ever did in their lives was in prison.

There may be more investigations of these crook politicians. Danny Davis, his wife, Vera Davis, Wilbert Cook, and Valeria Leonard are all connected to the same church on the west side, Carey Tercentenary AME Church. Wilbert Cook, and Valeria Leonard both ran for Alderman last election. Everyone is starting to wonder about the campaign money these "candidates" get as they only buy these cheesy looking signs and plaster them everywhere, every candidate on the west side. re they putting some "change" in their pockets? Wilbert and another unknown male were having a very loud argument in the Lawndale Christian Health Center on west Ogden, something about someone did not pay the money. They stopped yelling when they saw me approach. Maybe all of these crooks are being investigated, hope some get arrested.
