Quick Guilty Plea
- A former Chicago Police lieutenant pleaded guilty to tax fraud Thursday under a deal with prosecutors that likely spells bad news for his two high-profile alleged co-conspirators.
Erroll Davis, 52 — who quit his 27-year police career when he was indicted just two weeks ago — choked up in federal court as he admitted he’d failed to pay taxes on a $30,000 payoff he accepted to help a pal get her hands on an illegal property loan.
Though he didn’t name her, court papers make it clear the pal was disgraced former Country Club Hills Police Chief Regina Evans.
Evans — who’s awaiting sentencing in a separate state grant fraud case — hasn’t been charged in connection with the mortgage fraud she allegedly asked Davis to carry out.
But Davis’s plea deal turns up the heat on her because it requires Davis to cooperate with U.S. Attorneys if he wants to dodge a likely prison sentence of around 12 to 18 months.
Davis was an asshole most of his career, so the karma here is thick. A few months in prison might send a message to a lot more people. And forfeiture of his pension would really put the fear into a bunch more. As an added bonus, it would help our pension not having to pay for people who ended up being criminals.

First, a University study suggests that getting your teenager to bed on time makes them less likely to abuse drugs, get into trouble ( do stupid $h/t) and is cheaper in the long run than paying a lawyer and medical bills. ( the inference is both an individual and societal benefit)
Second, the decline in birth rates has leveled off. Seems many (responsible) couples were holding off on having children because the economy was rough and they couldn't care for them (responsibly) so they didn't have them . . . . .
Both of these stories represent a novel and refreshing approach to parenting ( not just breeding).
I weep for this country and society . . . .

All I can say is, especially as someone who might appear weak at times, it's a huge relief to see the Chicago Police Officers covering that area so well. And for good reason. The list of the 77 new Sergeants comes out today. This might be the final promotions off the old list. Congratulations to those who made it, you will not have to take the second part of the test. The brass finally realized that we need more Sergeants. I know that people studied hard and that it would have been unfair to not promote anymore people.
FOP won the 6th 7th workday NATO class action arbitration AND the change of start time NATO arbitration. Both were class actions, meaning EVERY singly affected officer will be paid. All you promote is bad news and attacks. How about some good news?

It is a very a common tactic to get one criminal to rat out other criminals by offering reduced time in prison as an inducement to turn rat.
The feds do it as does every state's attorneys office in Illinois.

Didn't Regina get involved with a homicide case in Area 2 some years back and pulled the kid/bad guy from the interview rooms? I think the guy was related to her. This guy was in Area 2 less than 72 hrs and she went in a took him out. And then the case went nowhere because he was indeed the shooter.....anyone? anyone? Bueller?

He was charged and was in county for a month. Another guy, who slightly resembles him, was convicted of the murder.
To the person who was inquiring as to when the Sgts. would be made, very soon, a group of 80 from the old list will be made, I really don't know the date, but it will be this year yet.

As far as police expertise, Erroll Davis is a blank slate in comparison to John Burge. As far as deserving a pension, all Burge's efforts were aimed at keeping the older ghetto residents safe from the animal and keep the animal from advancing into other neighborhoods. All Davis did was seek and obtain two undeserved promotions and to fraudulently maneuver undeserved money into his pocket. Big difference.

We kind of knew old Denny had lost his mind when he made Regina the heroine in the book he wrote after he retired.
It wasn't a bad book, but it was tough seeing her as the heroine. At least she got killed in the book.
