Remember, Police Are the Problem

  • In 1991, Chicago aldermen became eligible for a pension based on up to 80 percent of their salary, with maximum benefits awarded after 20 years of service. It’s a more generous plan than other city employees receive, even though membership in City Council is a part-time job. The costs are just now beginning to kick in as salaries increase and long-serving aldermen retire.
At the link is a chart of 21 retired aldercreatures who are drawing pensions, the top three that are greater than that which a 30-year police officer on active duty. The next eleven do better while retired than an active 25-year vet.

And all that is for what is listed as a part-time job. More than a copper who is still putting on the badge, uniform and gun after 25 or 30 years. But screwing these guys is going to fix everything?

If the police are the problem then why do thousands of people call 911 for police service every day? And why do people flag down cops all the time for police service(robberies, car accidents, directions, etc.)?

If the police are the problem, then the people of this city sure as hell don't mind being around the problem.

Jackson is on parole for a 2007 felony armed robbery and aggravated battery with a firearm conviction, according to Park.

An Englewood man was ordered held without bail Sunday after he allegedly beat, sexually assaulted and threatened to kill his pregnant ex-girlfriend before going on to assault the police officers who tried to arrest him

He was also convicted of felony armed robbery in 2000 and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon in 2006, Park said.

I worked very hard to get the score I got. My score belongs to me and my family who made tremendous sacrifices. For those who wish to tear me down, you are what is wrong with this department. What is extremely disheartening to me is that I have seen the "merit picks" basically leap over me. Just because they have political juice. That is a very hard pill to swallow. But I will continue to press on and maintain a happy go lucky attitude. Too many people become permanently bitter. Don't be that person.

So is RE going to "fix" the aldermans' pensions too so it's all fair? Amazing how Michael Madigan left the judges out so they can be fair if it goes to the courts. If a judge is fair and impartial then what would it matter? Furthermore if there is a conflict of interest with judges then send it the USSC and let those justices decide. Also why didn't MM include the legislature in the rework of the pension mess since they are part of it and the ones who causes it?

I don't know but I am just saying that I don't think it's a good idea to tamper with pensions of hard working coppers and fireman especially when cops carry guns and all. Just making a point.

This pension bill was supported by all of the police unions ( I should know) and it was called the Omnibus Pension Bill which was pushed by Madigan. Madigan refused to endorse or move forward a 100 dollar a month increase for police widows unless he got union support for his major pension bill. And, as I recall this bill also established pensions for many other boards and commissions, just another part of the patronage system of Illinois.

Remember he did it just months before a law changed regarding the pension. If I remember correctly he quit being an alderman or didn't run for reelection He was appointed to the bench. Timing was perfect
From a newspaper article

That post will give Allen a nearly 62 percent pay raise - from $110,556-a-year as an alderman to $178,835 as a judge.

The timing of Allen's appointment will ultimately ensure a higher judicial pension. On Jan. 1, pension reforms are scheduled to take effect for new state employees, raising to 67 the age for retirement with full benefits and basing benefits on an eight-year average of pay rather than four.

Allen, 58, replaces Judge Aurelia Pucinski, who was elected Tuesday to the Illinois Appellate Court.

Ok Ok OKAY!

Let's cut the bullshit, shall we?

Chicago's civic/business community, the kleptocratic hopelessly incompetent and corrupt criminal/political class along with the ever complicit knee-walking media have been beating the fuck out of the "Chicago is doomed unless you Cops share the sacrifice and take this combination bald-head haircut & ass-fucking" drum incessantly.

Well... Since they realized RMD had destroyed this city playing "Hide Da Money & Steal It" for 20+ years.

Funny... Before the wheels came off, Rauner, Msall and the rest of the Gold Coast/North Shore cocktail party & political fundraiser set who make up the majority of the "Inner Party Rolodex" weren't saying shit about the stealing Daley was doing.

Corrupt, amoral sons of bitches were in the fucking cookie jar up to their elbows... Unindicted co-conspirators and all that.

OK... So they manage to give Policemen the bald-head haircut & ass-fucking.

THEN WHAT?

Will the overall quality of life improve in Chicago? Nope.

Will the citizenry be able to move about on the public way safely? Nope.

Will the tales of horror emanating from Harrison, Gresham, Pullman, Grand Crossing etc., magically go away if The Police were to take the bald-head haircut & ass-fucking for the misappropriation of untold BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN TAXPAYER TREASURE by the previous and current mayoral administrations?

Hell Muthafuckin' No it won't stop! But everybody seems to have co-signed on further stealing from Policemen as the cure for all that ails this city.

This business of condemning and punishing The Police makes great political theater.

It distracts from the deeper problems afflicting this city.

Problems for which these obviously smart, talented and wealthy men who ride the Gold Coast/North Shore cocktail party and fundraiser circuit have abso-fucking-lutely NO ANSWERS TO!

But they need to keep the public riled up about the "unsustainable early retirement and sweet pensions of those greedy cops."

Fucking over The Police will not help this city because the powers that be have proven they have no stomach to confront the real problems at hand.

Beating on The Police is easy because the powers that be have erected firewalls to prevent The Police from taking the appropriate actions to try and protect themselves and their families from harm.

As it is? Throughout history, reasonable men have drawn blood for such repeated disrespect and outrages.

"You Cops had better stop that talk about fighting back or else!"

The war against The Chicago Police and their concerns has been going for quite some time now.

To know where The Policeman stands in the eyes of the public, all you have to do is read the on-line commentary of all the media outlets in Chicago.

The Police are now the enemy...

The hatred, disdain and disrespect are palpable.

We reckon since the public is so free and open about their hatred of The Police, they will fully embrace all those things that The Police are supposed to stop.

Right?

And then you have... THIS:

"We're so sick of all the accolades being given to the cops..."

This and variations thereof have been popping up regularly.

That sound you heard was society turning it's collective backs on the cares and concerns of The Policeman.

Little do they know, that at the end of the day, THEIR cares and concerns are ultimately tied to those of Policemen.

To paraphrase the current occupant of the Oval Office...

Policemen are people too.

>Pfffft!<
Who are we kidding?

The joyful haters are self-boning about how little of a fuck they give about Policemen and the fate of Policing in this city.

Fine... Make The Police go away and let the current insanity run its course.

That's the ultimate goal, right?

Making the good old-fashioned Patrolmen go away and re-booting what Police and Policing actually are?

The Police are the enemy.
Viva Hate...

Once again the elite political class of Chicago reveal themselves as the thieving s.o.b's they are. Does anyone know what level of funding their pension system is at?? I'm willing to bet that they correctly funded their pension!!. I propose that if our (Police) pension is in anyway diminished, so should their pension. If their system is funded at 80% or higher, a portion of it should be moved into the underfunded pension systems of Chicago to stablize them. It's only fair, this is exactly what these assholes have done to our pension, take money out to pay for those "feel good programs" or " For the Children programs" that these fucking hack sob's have done to us over the past 20 yrs plus. Politicians should not even be eligible for a pension for a PART TIME JOB!! This City and State have committed fraud and yet no one cares, not the Illinois Attorney General, not the feds, NOBODY, so the question is " What happens when we,(Police, Fireman, Teachers, ETC.),also stop caring? Politicians should consider that reality! If you don't know your history, it will repeat itself! What we have here is taxation without balanced representation, pure and simple! Revolutions have started over less!!!!!!!

I was a wee bit confused cuz of the similarities b'tween Ditka & the real "Iron Mike" former Capt/XO in Belmont.
Striking similarities. Inspector Mike R is a tough guy, rite?
He's not afraid to look U in the eye, screw a bike team this summer(5 day work week), and that grueling work schedule of 20 hours a week w/a take home car.
The two have soooo much in common. One is a legend in his career. The other "Iron Mike" is legend in his own mind....depending on what psych meds he's on.
Coach, congrats again. "Iron Mike", I'm so sorry U have to look at U'r self in the mirror. I wouldn't wish Belmont Mike's reflection back on anyone.

(Ot) anyone remember quite awhile ago when daleys guys were dumped they filed a lawsuit to get d-3 pay restored did they get it? If so does that also mean they get d-3 pension? Probably yes another draw from our underfunded pension fund! Why when you work as exempt or security specialist are you entitled to a huge pension increase? Why not you get pension based on civil service rank? You still make the big pay with unlimited overtime but you can't suck more from pension fund! Hello Mikey you still asleep? Wake up!

The Brad Woods test prep program needs to be called out. I spent $200 extra for their materials. What did I get in return? I got a total of 20 pages in their first class session. Plus the three hours they spent on Saturday was a complete waste. A complete waste. They didn't even fucking teach anything or go over any material. So disappointed.

12/09/2013 08:05:00 AM

Bernstein we get it already. They provide a study group at a reasonable fee. You lost me when you didn't even change your beef you just constantly cut and paste the same post. Come on, I would expect something better than a guy who can make 2 million bucks off of coppers from Chicago.

P.S. If you were actually in the course you wold know the materials were not $200.00.

I see that the Brad Woods group has the class not to be slinging mud on the blog. Stay Classy Bernstein and Associates oh that's right you recently changed your name to Bernstein Test Prep sounds familiar?????? Imitation is highest form of flattery..

Ot - was out in yesterday's snow storm from 2-8 pm. Chicago main streets were deplorable. Didn't see any city snow trucks. Expressways were too but at least the state trucks were out. Our side street still has not been salted. Read in the Times this morning that the city did not deploy all the snow removal trucks. Why the hell not? If they handled this small storm so badly, I can hardly wait for a bigger snow. Maybe that's what it will take to get this smart ass out of city hall. So sick of our smug twit of a mayor. He was probably too busy dancing with the snow flakes to care about the roads.

How many of you plan on leaving the state when you retire? Who will be left to pay taxes in this state? Exactly. The state is fucked big time. By waiting/ fighting to address these issues it will only be worse in the future.

Please explain why working VRI has anything to do with leverage and how are we pissing away a good opportunity?

As far as I'm concerned, making time and one-half is a good opportunity. A good opportunity to pay off those credit card bills or to pay for little Billy's catholic school tuition. Then once I have all that paid off, start socking the rest away for retirement.

In the end, it will benefit myself and my family.

Sorry, we can never get 80%, 75% is our max

12/09/2013 03:14:00 PM
Yes, but actually you will not get a full 75%. It is 75% of the average of the last four years of service. Police and fire are the only ones who do not get compounded cost of living increase. Lets see how the mayor handles that one when he writes up his reform package?

"Why are you guys fighting pension reform?"

12/10/2013 07:47:00 AM

You see... As far as Chicago Police pensions go, there is one inescapable fact. The prior and current mayoral administrations have made an intentional and conscious decisions to not make their required timely contributions over a span of 20 years.

During that same span, the Chicago political power structure has stolen untold millions from our pension fund and gifted the money to third parties with ties to the Chicago political power structure as if OUR pension fund was THEIR personal petty cash drawer.

We're fighting this so called "reform" because we recognize it for the flat out, bald faced thievery it actually is.

"Reform" is Chicago politician-speak for, "Yeah, we stole from you guys and we have no intention on making you Coppers whole while we put laws in place to dynamite YOUR pensions while safeguarding OURS."

In just societies, criminals have been paraded to the scaffolds justifiably dangled for lesser outrages.

We don't want your sympathy...

We need you to be angry that the powers that be have said it was ok to steal from Policemen and then move Heaven and Earth in a media campaign to vilify Policemen in the eyes of the public.

The public turns their collective backs on the concerns of the Police for having so called "sweet pensions and early retirements" which makes it easy for the political power structure to destroy the lives of people who have done absolutely nothing wrong except wear a shiny star, a blue suit of clothes and swear an oath.

"The Police ARE the problem in Chicago... Once we fix THEM, everything else will fall into place."

The Policeman didn't break it.
It is way beyond the power of The Policeman to fix.
If The Policeman were so empowered, the people would cry against them for crying's sake...

The Police Are The Enemy.
Viva Hate...

Right?

But someway, somehow in spite of everything.

We dig deep and answer the call.

Bill Dougherty:

I have known you since you came on the job. I know your heart has been in the right place in the past. We all make mistakes. The electionering in FOP office in reference to the vet was a mistake. But it’s water under the bridge. The fact that some of the guys in the office did not help Shields as much as they should have can be debated until the cows come home.

What really disturbs me is the flash mob at the last general election. I heard that you handled the last board meeting with class What happened at the last general meeting was a disgrace.

Yesterday we got some stuff in patrol division administration calling for a Occupy Wall Street type of action at FOP headquarters. It was faxed from the 3rd District . A CR# was obtained for using Department paper and fax machines for non-police reasons. The Department knows who sent it. Is this what the election has come down too? Bill in your heart you know that for every 2 votes these actions get you drive they drive away 5 votes. She is doing you a disservice Bill. Many of your supporters like me are being turned off by Sid, Jim, and Kevin’s tactics. I am asking that you, for the betterment of the lodge, call off the dogs and let the election run it’s course. You also have to how your audience too Bill. While my dad said you were curtiously received at OPLEO some of your ticket actually took votes away from you.

And you have to be your own man and leave Mark at home.
