Union Contributions

The Sun Times has a nifty little interactive chart up showing where the top 10 Illinois unions have spent their political donations over the past ten years.

One thing we noticed is that the FOP has spent the most money on Mike Madigan ($63,05).

Running in second place? Lisa Madigan ($27,460).

One surprising item of note - the firefighters have spent all of their money on the governor - Quinn ($80,000) and Blago ($242,500 ).

One not surprising item is how tiny the first responders political contributions are - SEIU and the Laborers routinely contribute in the hundreds-of-thousands per year, million over the past ten years. And all pretty much in lockstep with the democrats who just voted to screw them all.

So I guess we should all teach our kids to be crooked, thieving, rotten scoundrels if they want to get ahead in the State of IL.

chicago just passed the 400 homicide mark for the year i'm told.

so where's rahm keeping these bodies.

are they being thrown into the city hall furnace as a 'much needed' cost savings plan to keep the heat on.

if that's the case it's getting pretty cold. however, down on 6x th street things have been pretty hot so so far it's all in balance in a sick way.

oh i know. they are going to stack the 400 bodies up on barges, float the barges down the river, and lite them on fire as clouted hollywood types mingle with real estate developers and corporate exec's cheering, applauding, them on during the great chicago fire celebration festival along their newly built pension funded river walk....right.

if my memory serves me there was somewhere around 400 people killed in that fire so the numbers are right.

also the fire left about one-third of the city homeless and we should be their by oct 2014 don't ya think.

the hollywood consultants being paid to create this 'much needed' tourist attraction should get a bonus and a tax break the reenactment may be so realistic i'm thinking.

HO-HO-NOOOO!: Record-Breaking Robbery On The Way; 2013 Expected To Be Millennium's Worst

[...]...In the upcoming days, Wrigleyville and Boystown will almost certainly record their 234th robbery of the year, making 2013 the single worst year on record.

If that record is set, it will be the third record-breaking year in a row.

The neighborhood currently sits at 231 robberies for the year according to Chicago Police Department records...

...

Not only have the past three years broken all of this millennium's records, they have sailed past old robbery levels at warp speed.

We tied 2001's robbery total way back on August 17. The 76 robberies since then are just icing on a very miserable cake.

2002's record was matched on October 8.

• 2003 on August 10.
• 2004 on August 19
• 2005 on September 1
• 2006 on August 11
• 2007 on August 4.
• 2008 AND 2010 were tied on September 14.
• 2011's total was tied on the Monday before Thanksgiving.

...and 2012's total of 233? Hopefully never. But making a Christmas wish for a 3-week break in the neighborhood's robbery business is probably a bit too much to ask of Santa Claus.

=================================

of course these are the 'reported crime' numbers and would not doubt the actual robberies are 2x's the above.

we all know how some officers often persuade victims not to file a report and that some victims know that their 500 dollar smart phone is gone, history. that it makes no sense making a report that requires throwing good money after bad losing time off work and such only to see the ninja to get probation cuz the jails are jammed pack and preckwinkle needs the community votes will cry racial profiling.

/sarc.

oh well. about time for another we've taken 'x' guns off the street speech again. don't look at the crime rising in 19, no-no, look over here.

The amazing part is that we spent any money at all. not to mention all the wrong guys for us. It makes us look stupid. That should come to a grinding halt now that there is a light on the matter.

I say no more giving politicians money until after they're elected so they can work to show us that they want our support.

I think what should piss people off is not the contributions but the rhetoric in the process. The mantra has been for the last couple of years, what is your plan. The Union by large have presented an alternative approach that hurts their members as well and there was no negotiations. The Unions did their part by putting up solid ideas that were tossed by the very people they supported. Lesson learned, move on and get stronger contracts starting today. The hurt is over now start to claw back and fight.

For those of you with some time, remember when Lisa first ran? The FOP told us to vote for her and we would receive 80% pensions like the State Police. She got elected, and we got f%@#%d again.

It is long past time to make strikes by public sector unions in Illinois illegal and to ban contributions by unions to elected officials.

Why fop why is my (our) money being wasted? Mike anything to say? Can you talk without babbling and sweating! When you sweat and babble that is a signal your lying! Much like mark before you, like how about when mark sold us out and allowed the city to back out of paying for fop top staff! Now we the membership are forced to pay your wildly inflated salaries, since we the membership pay you we can be sure your padding your paychecks pay to play alive n well at fop!

Seconded!

The last politician in this City/State to do ANYTHING for the police was Miriam Santos. She tried to stop Daley and pals from "borrowing" from OUR Pension funds. Next thing ya know, she gets indicted. Funny how Daley never got caught doing anything. Makes me wonder if HE was the cooperator all those years, clearing his enemies.

We have to literally "pay to play", and we are always guaranteed to lose. It's like a trip to Vegas, without the sex with a fat girl at 4 am...but I digress.

I loathe politicians.

1. If someone is a registered Democrat, they are the problem.
2. If Mike Shields or associates are President of FOP in 5 months that police have become Democrats.
3. Pull the voting records of each team running for FOP to see where they each stand.

Who remembers when Sgt Joe B. from Swat was running against state rep Fran Hurley from the 19th ward. The good Sgt was seeking a endorsement from the FOP, well the FOP told the sgt that he was more qualified than Hurley, but they can't rock the boat with the 19th ward and endorsed Hurley. It's time we realize that no one is our friend but us! So it's time we get back to taking care of our own.

Yes the FOP and the CFFU both spend less when it comes time for contributions, but they also have a lot less members to contribute, plus have less that they are asking for.
As far as the CFFU they might of been a few good things. I believe with Blago he signed a bill that made it the "cities" job to prove that an illness or cancer that a ff comes down with is "presumed" as happening on the job. It use to be that they would have to prove it can from the job.

You are the stupid one, you must have been in St Gertrude School painting rainbows when Miriam Santos was saving our pension fund.

Daley made a grab to gain control over all City Pension funds, direct control. As in he does what he wants with the money and says not to worry to city employees, the City is good for the Pension money. When the checks are due, the City will simply cut the Pension checks.

Santos cried bullshit and exposed the attempted multi-billion dollar grab for our money.

Look what Daley did with the parking meter money and skyway money and parking garage money. Billions of dollars. ALL GONE!

Same with our pension money, it would be ALL GONE, if Daley had gotten his hands on it.

Daley was embarrassed and pissed at Santos and had her setup for something they all did.

But Miriam Santos saved our pension funds, make no mistake. Without her there would be ZERO in our pension fund. We would depend on the city paying it's bills. You like the sound of that?

At night when you say evening prayers, say thanks to Miriam Santos. I am retired and get a check due to her diligence.

REPORTED crime is down. Of course that's because there are no officers on the street to take a report. You can run over to your nearest police station to fill it out, but wait, we closed a few of those. Well, just wait on the phone for a half hour to be told no one cares here is your number.

Abuse your citizens and they probably won't bother. It worked! Crime is down!

Take all your coppers and put them in the ghetto. Forget the taxpayers, you have to keep the gang bangers from killing each other so they can continue to prey on the weak. Let them to continue to be a drain on society. We are nuts.

Should this surprise anyone? Democrats promised eager union leadership every "goodie" under the sun knowing by the time the bill comes due, they'll be living large far away from the problem they helped create. We have to stop pretending our union isn't a political entity and get some leadership that will hold th flame to the asses of these freakin' garbage politicians who promise us benefits and then piss away money that greatly effects the city's ability to deliver on those promises. We made a deal with the devil and then went to sleep foolishly believing they'll do what they promised. Hopefully a lesson has been learned...but I doubt it.
