City Sticker Grace Period - Done
- Chicago drivers could lose the traditional 15-day grace period during which the city doesn't issue tickets on vehicles displaying out-of-date city stickers as part of the move to year-round sticker sales.
City Clerk Susana Mendoza said Wednesday that when the sale of the city's 1.3 million vehicle stickers gets broken up over the entire year instead of taking place just in June, Chicagoans won't encounter the long lines that have prompted police and Revenue Department enforcement workers to traditionally give two weeks leeway after the old stickers expire before starting to issue $200 tickets.
[...] Starting this year, the yearly city sticker will lapse six months after the vehicle's state license plate sticker does. The clerk's office will give drivers the option this year of either buying a cheaper sticker to cover those remaining months after June until they must buy a replacement, or a more costly sticker good for those remaining months plus another year. By the end of 2015, everybody will be on the new system of staggered sales.
This could be the smartest thing coming out of that office in years.

Sounds good if I retire then I only have to buy a six months sticker when I move down south at the end of the year.'
Of course, I will keep my VOTING ADDRESS in Chicago to keep in the fight for our pensions.
Just send me the absentee ballot via snail mail.
No, the smartest thing was the tollway going to transponders.
Now you don't think about how much you are getting screwed, you just see a 40.00 charge from time to time on your credit card statement.
Now how can the city get me to forget about paying 200.00 for a small pickup truck ?
They can't. .....and I vote !
Having a police person driver/bodyguard is a matter of prestige for government bureaucrat types. Being the chief tax-person is a very important job in socialist society. It's like Hollywood. There you know you are an A-lister when you have your own bodyguard(s).
Wasn't the whole idea of moving stickers to June was so you didn't have to change them when the weather was below zero! I'll be back to February now. Glad it's not this winter!!!
Mendoza isn't the one with a CPD driver/bodyguard... That would be City of Chicago Treasurer Stephanie D. Neely, unless something has changed.
I remember seeing stories about Mendoza riding her bicycle to work with no cops in sight.
As a correction to this post, please note that Susana Mendoza does not have a CPD security detail.
When Miguel Del Valle became City Clerk in 2006, he voluntarily declined his security detail.

When Susana Mendoza took office in 2011, she too declined a security detail.

"City Clerk Susana Mendoza does not have a police security detail.
“I drive myself, and I ride my bike, so at most my security detail is either my seatbelt or my helmet,” Mendoza said.
Yet Mendoza’s job is much higher profile than that of Treasurer Neely.
“I believe that it’s more important to have police officers that could have been assigned to my detail to be working on the street,” Mendoza said.
I haven't bought a city sticker in two years. Of course I fled that shithole and city stickers don't exist where I live.

No Susie Mendoza asked for bodyguards and was turned down, don't know if she has them now!
Why give a grace period in the first place? The state doesn't give you one with your plates. When they expire, they're expired.
Wasn't one of her Campain promises to LOWER the cost of the City Stickers????......YES it was....Another lying Dumbocrat..................
One of the better ideas, especially when you have 3 cars, two of which have plates expiring in June.
SCC
Can someone please tell me why Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas has a driver???
She claims she has reduced the budget for ALL of Cook County Tax Payers through her aggressive approach of Management and Employee cuts.
Really Maria, you may have cut your budget for your Office Staff, but you sure as hell kept all your perks in effect for yourself.
Just ask Pam Zekman and Andy Shaw of the Better Business Bureau????
The YOGA QUEEN
"City Clerk Susana Mendoza does not have a police security detail."
Don need one. Herbie Pulgar an da Maniac Sticka Croo got her back, yo.
She done Herbie a solid, lay a stack on him, yo.
FrEnZ Fo LiFe.
Fewer Parkers are going to be written with the new stickers. It was easy to drive by and see if the sticker was last year's picture/color. With the new stickers you have to get out and look at each sticker.

So do what 024 or 018 does..
Drive the wrong side looking at the windshield. The Darn Numbers are big enough now.
Since my plate expires in Dec I'll be back to June and there will still be lines for the parking permit passes since you can't get them at the currency.
I don't think it's fair, I was doing the best that I can, and that sticker has nothing, nothing to do with no gangs, nothing.
Now, if only they could nab those slick, complaining yuppies. All those plates registered to Indiana,Ohio and Wisconsin all over buck town and wrigleyville. That would be a city sticker bonanza!. A million right there!
008th Dist (west end) came by last night (3rd watch)
Got a few scoflaws.
I wanna say thanks and
Please come back.
There were a few that weren't home when you drove down the street in the opposite direction.

She didn't say the cost of the city sticker would be lowered for all of you. Just for the city from the supplier. More profit you see.

So roll up on the vehicles...get the VIN and run it through LEADS or whatever you use to check for DL and ID.
There should be a database you can check the names against the Water Department water bills.
Or Track the Vehicles for 31 days.
With all the snow and ice...you guys should have been doing City Stickers and Abandoned by now.
I Remember when she was running for office. In her TV commercial, she clearly stated she had a plan to hire more police officers and lower the city sticker cost. I'm still waiting. She's too stupid to need a bodyguard

Renters don't have water bills.
Keep notes on the car for a month. Just note when/where you see it habitually for a month, so you have something to back you up, then write it every day after that.
My fto was like a rabid dog with that, but we were on mids and it's much easier to document where a car 'sleeps' overnight, every night. If you throw a stop on them for a minor mover, then ask the right questions in a casual way, that'll work, too.
Madigan doesn't have a security detail or driver either.
Papas didn't fire her staff, her henchman Peter Karahalios did. If you ever see his name on a Chicago ballot don't vote for him. He's an unethical douche on many levels.
