How Long?
This seems a bit extreme:
- An autopsy conducted today determined that a 51-year-old woman whose body was found Friday wrapped in a blanket in an East Garfield Park alley had been strangled, officials said.
Police found Velma Howard in an alley on the 600 block of North Homan Avenue at 2:20 p.m. Friday, said Chicago Police News Affairs [...].
Howard was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:02 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Just following procedure and it was a Friday afternoon.
What's the proper protocol when u see someone obviously dead. Do you still need to call an amb to do the official pronouncement? Got into it once with a boss over this. Just wondering what the correct way to do it is?
Dont worry chief Andrews already classified it as a suicide.
Rumor has the decedent last seen alive while "performing" at Aldercreature Jason Ervin's taxpayer-funded ward office as entertainment for his bachelor party (sarcasm).
But do check out that story, SCC. They're spinning this one hard. Extortion plot, conflicting information about it being documented with CPD, yada, yada, yada.
I remember reading a while back that a dead body laid in the front lawn of a home for about 6 hours or so in Detroit-- had to wait for the coroner, which I believe there is only one, not sure though.
No reason to move it, it was frozen to the ground. By the time the dics get there, then order the crime lab, then the ME then the body snatchers, three hours is quick.
Lookup Graemare Hotel. It was an elegant hotel in East Garfield park when it was an ok place to live. It's very sad to see how EGP has been destroyed over the past few decades thanks to rif raff and dope.
heard e body was found in dan ryan woods murdered
It wasn't like the body had any important appointments, or anywhere it needed to be in a hurry.
She was alive until 4:48. If only the call was dispatched earlier she may be on her way to getting her college degree in brain surgery.
Horrible. What did the blanket ever do?
That body had been there for days if not longer.
It wasn't like she had somewhere to go.
Last night I had pig in the blanket for dinner.

Call an ambulance to do the official pronouncement. U R kidding? Only a doctor can call a death. While I was working a wagon you would take a DOA to the ER and have a dr come out and make the call. And thats on stinkers and floaters
To the officer who asked what the proper procedure for pronouncement is:
First, if CFD is on scene, keep in mind that a Paramedic CANNOT pronounce someone deceased. So, when you complete your G.O.C.R. or Hospitalization C.R., please don't put down "Victim pronounced Deceased by AMB XX." While still on scene, and without your knowledge, the victim's vitals are sent to a hospital with CFD'S equipment where a doctor reviews them and gives the pronouncement date/time back to the paramedic. Just ask the paramedic what hospital/doctor's name/date,time before they leave.
The correct narrative is:
"The victim was pronounced deceased via telemetry on DATE/TIME by Hospital XXXX Dr,XXXX"
A second way of pronouncement is to ask the M.E. call taker if they are sending anyone out. If they do, the official pronouncement will be when the assigned ME arrives and tells you what it is.
Neighbors thought it was a "dib" from a previously shoveled spot. Nothing to see here folks. Keep moving.
detective must start working for a living not just acting . too many dummies and lazy
people get to work that what you get paid for .
Only a doctor can pronounce a well done steak as officially dead meat.
HOW LONG MUST WE WAIT UNTIL :(
FEDERAL criminal charges against THE DIRTY six police officers — (1). Deputy Chief of Detectives Constantine G. “Dean” Andrews, (2). Sgt. Samuel J. Cirone III,
(3). Cmdr. Joseph P. Salemme,
(4). Det. James G. Gilger,
(5). Det. Nicholas J. Spanos and
(6). Lt. Denis P. Walsh

wooowwwwwwwwwwwwwww! thanks for the lesson. Let me guess, you just studied for the sgts test... ok, we get it kid.. no go back to the beat car.
And the third type of pronouncement is if the death appears natural like a 80 yr old heart patient, cancer patient etc and the death appears natural the detectives and the M.E. Are not coming out and before private body snatchers were around the wagon would swing by the nearest hospital and a emergency room doctor would come out to the wagon and pronounce the body dead.

Who is this with the beef with detectives that keeps posting here? You are only half right. They are depleted as badly as patrol maybe worse. No hiring for at least 5 years and not enough to cover the retirees leaving. Instead of banding together, we have idiots like you dividing us.
