- A man who was found dead in his apartment in the South Chicago neighborhood early Friday was shot to death and police are conducting a homicide investigation, officials said Saturday.
- Shootings on the West Side left one man dead and four people hurt Saturday, including three teenagers wounded in a shooting in the Lawndale neighborhood, authorities said.
- An 18-year-old man was shot and seriously wounded in the Chatham neighborhood this evening, police said.
Making up for lost time evidently...and maybe a clue to keep one's mouth shut until after the last shooting of the year is tallied.

A bunch of shooting are identified, what is not mentions for most of them is criminal intent. Many of these shooting could be chalked up to unfamiliar careless people cleaning loaded guns, teens playing with loaded guns and/or games of Russian Roulette. All are shootings, but how many are the result of criminal intent. The Police Superintendent deserves more respect for his rank and for the skill, knowledge and hard work to arrive at his high rank.

June at the earliest according to personnel. They are still making two classes of 30 sgts . One in march and one in the end of may. New sgts list will come out about a month or two after the last class is made so June is best case.. But I'm sure the classes will be delayed so I'm sure July or August is more likely

OT Tonight on 3rd watch in 011 there will be 33 two man cars up. That does NOT include all the VRI and saturation cars or the vans full of PPOS being sent to their foot patrols. I wonder how many cars will be up in 016 tonight. Given that 016 is enormous compared to 011, I would guess that they should at least have the same number, if not more. Right??? VRI slots are getting cut. New policy coming out. You will have to have a minimum amount of activity to apply for VRI. However applicants will be competing for VRI slots based on activity. Only applicants with highest activity will get one of the under 100 slots offered.
New policy is expected to kill two birds with one stone, increase activity citywide and limit overtime.
The homicide total for march 2013 was light, 13 or 16 , depending on your source.
This march is going to have some bigger
numbers because the weather is warming up.
By april the total for all of 2014 should be close or even higher than 2012 or 2013.
The mayor will have a lot of explaining

After 5 years we finally have a verdict...a WIN! The city produced witness after witness that did nothing for the case. One white shirt after another was paraded up to the witness stand from deputy chiefs, commanders, lieutenants down to sergeants. Each one proved to be less than credable. But eight officers told a very similar story...Brian's story. Ultimately the truth was told!
So let me tell you the truth from my experience...my husband came home night after night with another story about how they were looking to screw him. This took a horrible toll on our marriage, so much so that I looked to divorce Brian. On the stand I had to talk about our intimate relationship or lack there of, in court. And the funny thing is all the "kids" in 18 knew about our personal life. Guess what the link is....Randy Zawis...he felt it appropriate to discuss our personal life with 18 district white shirts. And sure enough the "kids" in 18 thought this was a great topic to discuss. That was not the crux of the case, but I can tell you that it was very real and very devastating to us.
Most people knew what was happening to Brian, but there were a handful of "kids" who choose to call him a dog. Is he a dog, absolutely not, but he was entering the last 5 years of his career? YES. For the "kids" who came to 18 without ever working as a real policeman anywhere, had to kiss the white shirts asses, otherwise what would they do. My husband never had to do that because he did his time-7 years working for cook county in the south side projects and then in the 9th district and then to 18 and finally now in 14, which he LOVES, it's a true brotherhood. Everybody including me, knows that 18 is nothing more than a revenue generating district, hence the 5 parkers and a mover everyday.
All in all, it's disgusting that ass kissers still stand with lying white shirts. I guess the true justice in that is they have to lye down with themselves every night. The true mark of a man is one that does the right thing whether it be hard or not. Regardless of what you think of Brian, he had the courage to pave the way for anyone who may be retaliated against!

Trustee Al Jaglowski just filed additional serious charges on Committee Chairman James Moriarity for criminal actions during last Friday's Hearing of Charges on Shields.
Apparently Chairman Jim committed assault, possibly aggravated due to age of Jaglowski, when he charged Jaglowski with intent to commit a battery.
Past President Mark Donohue and Trustee Dan Stover had to grab and restrain Chairman Jim.
Lets see , that makes at least 3 committee's that Acting President has to appoint to hear charges.
1. Two Committee's on Moriarity (Video on You tube and Assault on Jaglowski).
2. A Committe to hear charges on Rich Aguiliar for the email blasts THREE weeks ago to members , by hacking the FOP email list and using private confidential member's emails for his POLITICAL agenda with the "CITYWIDE SLATE".

I don't know the whole story, but I know from experience how these kinds of incidents can devastate families. People on this job have no respect for each other. Officers get bullied based on rumors and bullshit. Then they take that home to their families. It affects everyone. Please understand that children spread rumors and form opinions based on them. Adults form their own opinions and don't participate in listening to or spreading rumors. Don't let the actions of a bunch of children have an impact on your family. The people that talk shit have probably been acting that way since they were kids, and will continue to be just as pathetic in their adult lives. Don't let your husband feel down because he worries about what people are saying. If he's a good person, others will see that and not give a shit what a small group of idiots say. If they assign VRI on level of activity then what is the norm. If you get it with less time than me what is the criteria? What is the cut off....Do arrests have more weight than Contact Cards or Movers? SOS used to have an old points system. Again, if I am denied over someone with less time there has to be something in writing how and why. It can open up to favoritism. I hope our Union jumps on this if it is true.
I have always seen everyone bring in some type of activity while working VRI. For the past year we have had it pounded in our heads "VISIBILITY" and not just numbers. What do you want now? If they play the numbers game people will just get some bullshit arrest or TVB and then no one will be in the box. That should make the desk crews in 3, 4 or 5 happy. They already nit pick when you come in with something now.

Brian is a good man! I worked with him when he was on the sheriff's dept. The city got what they deserve! Why do bosses think that they can just fuck with you? You are telling it right. The exempts used to stay on for years so the paid into the pension at gold braid rates. Now just 4 years and out. guys dont realize they paid in at say po rate for 15 yrs,sgt. for 5 lt for five, the the 4 years as exempt and thats their pension

Nobody ruined it for you. Rahm is about to blow a gasket about overtime and now he has to scrounge around for pothole repair money and pothole damage reimbursement. Relax. As soon as it warms up, even low-seniority guys will be able to get VRI again. Meanwhile, you can spend the month with your family, or painting the bathroom.
Off topic...sometimes the good guys win! Best outcome for Corcoran v. City of Chicago. Ruling was in favor of Corcoran. The jury saw the truth about white shirt corruption, cover-up, intimidation, harrasment and retaliation. They saw this despite the city's attempts to hide the truth. A lot of lessons to be learned. One is the truth wins again. Another is one guy CAN make a difference. You can stand up to a corrupt system and take them on - doesn't mean it won't be a struggle and a hard fight! But it can be fought. Good job Brian for hanging in there and fighting the good fight.
