Well Well Well....Lookie Here

  • Former Chicago cop Steve Mandell took the stand in federal court Thursday to defend himself against charges he plotted multiple murders.

The risky move — rarely taken by defendants, especially in such a high stakes case — comes at the end of a two week trial at which jurors have heard how Mandell built a torture chamber on the Northwest Side, where he planned to extort, then kill a wealthy suburban businessman, and how he allegedly planned to kill an owner of Polekatz strip club and his wife.
But then this happened:
  • Mandell said he did “a little bit” of the spying he was being paid for, but was conning Michael by claiming to be doing more work than he was being paid for.

He said he used the computer databases and other tools at the civil rights law firm Loevy & Loevy, where he was working as an unpaid process server, to research half a dozen targets Michael had asked him to keep tabs on.

That’s a potential embarrassment for the highly-regarded law firm, which represented Mandell in a 2005 wrongful conviction case against the FBI.
Really? Do tell. The Loevys helped him win a suit against the FBI that was later overturned. And the Loevys also have a habit of scoring large payouts in suits against the City. It certainly sounds like Mandell was hip deep in the shit that got him placed on Death Row once before.

Very interesting.

I was a visiting unit in 009 and just couldn't stand all the complaining from female units. Stop making a fool of yourself, so what you had to do a report, big deal. I'm a female and I go with the flow. Stop all the gossiping and back stabbing. And to the male officer that stood there listening to the nonsense, grow a pair and be a good partner. Cause today those females are talking about your partner, tomorrow it will be you, never changes the pattern. At least you're in third watch, so stop your whining and remember all the criminals hate us, to be hating on each other, all we got is each other.

"Highly regarded law firm" - Trust me, they have a staff of dimwits that work there. Any person of average intelligence can send these wannabes off track . . . squirrel! The only way they really make money is by settling cases with the equally dimwitted city corporate council. When the city was actually defending itself with the help of outside council nuisance suits by parasite firms dropped dramatically.

If anything, the law firm should lose their license to use those databases since they were used by an unauthorized person for an unauthorized purpose. I know a company like Lexis Nexis is very strict about how their databases are used.

Do you mean to say that scumbag lawyers might use their access to databases that others don't have, or in this case allow criminals to use that access, and do harm to others?

But they are the champions of civil rights and socialist principles! Say it ain't so. Say it ain't so.

Law enforcement has access to databases that are unavailable to civilians. Lawyers have access, but slightly limited compared to LE access. Licensed private detectives have access as well. The stuff is hard to get outside LE, but that's why they let a criminal use their access. He couldn't get it on his own. Nice that they allowed that to happen. Great letting a criminal serve process for scum lawyers.

He's one smart slimeball. Clearly Anita should investigate him but as we all know she's afraid to take on anything that might make the democrat party look bad. After all, she's a dues paying member of that club of thieves. You wouldn't have to dig too far to see the collusion between the bottom feeder lawfirms and the Corp. counsels handling these police cases. And the private law firms that "represent" the city. Pay, pay, pay. NEVER go to trial.

And if she ever did investigate, she'd probably "lose" the file, like she did in the Vanecko case.

Use of these paid data bases have restrictions attached to them by the companies that own the information. If mandel used them for personal purposes he violated those restrictions and the companies can pull the use by the law firm and they should. Mandell or Manning was tied to other cops, both in Chicago and in willow springs who were members of a south suburbs burglary crew this going back to 1980.

Slap on wrist, free plane home for the hooked-up

MEL REYNOLDS FINED $100, ORDERED DEPORTED FROM ZIMBABWE

"A Zimbabwean court on Friday ordered the deportation of former Illinois congressman Mel Reynolds after he pleaded guilty to staying in the southern African country on an expired visa.

"Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe fined Reynolds $100 or five days in prison for the visa misdemeanor..."

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-mel-reynolds-zimbabwe-20140221,0,5873041,full.story

Did I say "hooked-up?" "Reynolds was working with Chicago powerbroker Elzie Higginbottom on potential business pursuits in Zimbabwe...When Higginbottom led a delegation of Chicago businesspeople to Zimbabwe in November 2011, Reynolds acted as Higginbottom’s spokesperson."

OBAMA FUNDRAISER DIGS FOR ZIMBABWE BUSINESS DEALS

28 Jun 2013

"A major Chicago fundraiser for United States President Barack Obama has been schmoozing senior Zanu-PF figures, including President Robert Mugabe, in the hope of winning business deals from the Zimbabwe government.

"In return...senior Zimbabwean security force members have been looking to the fundraiser, real-estate tycoon Elzie Higginbottom, to help the country to wriggle off the hook of targeted US sanctions.

"Internal Zanu-PF documents...suggest that the Zimbabwean military was keen to enter into negotiations with Higginbottom to form a joint-venture diamond mining company in 2011.

"Higginbottom's vast property portfolio has been “conservatively" valued at $200-million by the Chicago Tribune. Campaign finance records indicate that he and his wife contributed $400 000 to Obama's campaign war chest between 2008 and 2012 and donated generously to both Obama inaugurations.

"Higginbottom's largesse has catapulted him into a super-category of party political funders in the US popularly referred to as “bundlers."

"Zimbabwe security forces apparently saw the participation of Americans in the Chiadzwa diamond fields near Marange as key to avoiding further action by a “hostile" US government to restrict the Zimbabwe diamond trade."

Couldn't agree more with the Trainwreck of Team Policing in 024. To take a system that has functioned to the best of its capabilities and scrap it for an unproven experiment is not only foolish but dangerous for both the citizens and the officers. The officers have tried to make it work and only the worst winter in history have stopped more tragedies like the multiple shooting at Pratt/Clark. The officers are in full C.Y.A. a nd it's a matter of time before something terrible happens.

To all bitching about Manning constantly being referred to as "ex-CPD', it's very simple. Journalism 101 teaches every story must have a "hook". If the story is written as some bust out wiseguy wannabe trying to strongarm his way into a strip club, not many care. Unless you patronize that strip club. And an editor might just decide the story doesn't make the cut. However, if the same story involves an EX CHICAGO POLICE OFFICER, even if he only did one day on the job, lots of people tune in, if only to see what the corrupt coppers are up to now. That story runs daily.

As a citizen, I was in the area for some reason; heard about the sentencing as I saw the line in to the courtroom, so I decided to que-up in line to hear the sentencing. In front of me was this guy who's appearance really struck me. I couldn't take my eyes off the guy, because he just looked like the classic, stereotypical, scumbag lawyer. The glasses, the "Call Sal" suit, that haven't taken a bath in a few weeks glow. The guy should of been in Hollywood playing that typecast. He looked the real deal. He was the real deal. In line he's waving and shaking hands with connected looking types. I asked the person standing next to me, "Do you happen to know who that guy is?", as I pointed to the most perfect specimen of a douchebag, looking lawyer I'd ever seen. The person next to me in line replied, "He's a lawyer for Lovey & Lovey." I broke out laughing. I'd would have never known who the hell L&L was & what they were all about if it wasn't for reading about them here. It was just too hilarious that this slimeball looking guy in line was a lawyer for Lovey & Lovey. It codified that what I read about L&L here was probably accurate.

He is rotten to the core and married some older women probably bilking her out of everything, His father was found dead in the trunk of his car years back up in Vernon Hills at the shopping mall.
