FOP Ballots Due Shortly

We'll bet there are more than a few lying on dining room tables or on sideboards unopened.

Mail the damn thing in - they provided a stamp.

Even if you're only voting for one officer that you used to work with 12 years ago, at least you can say you participated.

Who knows? You might like it. And then you'll be attending meetings and running yourself in three years.

"And then you'll be attending meetings and running yourself in three years"

But it's so much easier to bitch anonymously on the blog, ask "Where's the FOP?", and maintain you're too busy to do anything yourself, rather than go to a meeting, make a simple phone call or send an e-mail to the FOP about a particular gripe.

If you did not receive your ballot for whatever reason, you can go down to Fop hall on Friday, March 7th between 0900 and 1200 hours and vote in person. I know it's an inconveniece, but everyone's participation is critical to demonstrate to City Hall and Springfield we are a force to be reckoned with.

This is why the FOP and the police in general are no threat to politicians. THEY DON'T VOTE ! So why should anyone care what you think? If you don't have a strong enough conviction to support you own union you will take whats given to you. . .AND LIKE IT.

ANY VOTE FOR......Bill D. or Mark D.
is a vote to continue the fraud wste and avuse of our resources. Both have endeared themselves to the political machine via the 19th Ward and used it only to help themselves.

So for the nay sayers (especially member in the know) just ask why they dont back a policeman running for office. Wouldnt having a couple of our own who are members vested in the pension as an alderman or state representative put us in a better position? Not once has this question been answered by Mark or Bill. Bill Grahm stated he once ran for office knowing he couldnt win and the union didnt back him because he couldnt win, but he did so to make a statement. Well Bill we dont need you to make a statement every three years when you and the City wide crew make an appearance. We need you to fight for us while you get over paid from us. Backing insiders against your own is a total lack of integrity like a boxer betting on the other guy and throwing the fight. Now these pigs that get fat off us want us to support them as they sell us out to the very people they supported for office. The choices all suck for the top of the ticket but theses guys are the worst.

I have never voted and never will, I am happy with the job for the most part. Seeing as how I haven't been on the medical more than twice in 25 yrs. I do my job and I don't do anything stupid. I don't really need the F.O.P. I am sure there are some actual candidates that are hard workers and mean well, but you have no hope against the machine. I am concerned about only two things on this job my pension and healthcare. I don't think our union or any union for that matter is strong enough to have any say in either one of those issues. You can bash me all you want but I have more important things to worry about like my side business that will save me if they take our pensions. Start concerning yourselves with your own future financially it is not getting any better out here.

If you like to use the medical roll, vote for the medical roll user.

If you like to screw around vote for the guy that's been through the disciple process many times.

If you don't like either, vote for the guy that doesn't participate in either.

Vote for the guy that has certain values, and you end up with a union that exudes those values.

Cue the moron comments about voting out anyone with any semblance of experience and know how.

If you haven't voted, take a minute to think seriously about it. If you want to vote for somebody you worked with and know personally, go for it. That makes sense.

What doesn't make sense is voting against the guys who have experience running a union, negotiating a contract, and fighting the city over pensions. All the bashing of the Citywide guys & gals on this blog are being done by a handful of trustees running against them or by those backing the Angelo & MacDonagh tickets.

Think before you vote--the last time a president got voted in who had no experience he almost ran the lodge off the rails. With the public seemingly turning against unions, now more than ever is the time for leadership that is experienced and prepared to bring members together and protects the interest of the rank and file.

I would appreciate these simple questions be answered by ANYONE who knows the answers:
1. When and who are going to be assigned to hear the charges against Rich Aguiliar and James Moriarity??
PS: Only Acting President Dougherty can pick the Committee's, so please Bill, get off your ass and start looking out for our membership and not your political aspirations. Pick the Committee's.
2. Why hasn't there been an Election Committee meeting regarding numerous complaints and concerns over this election process, please Chairman Dan Barnett, answer this question. I know you have been contacted regarding these important concerns. The election is 1 week away and still NO answers, why Dan???
3.How can James Moriarity Chair the Committee on Charges against Shields, when he himself is under numerous charges?? WTF. Can we please attempt to get some order back into the FOP #7 before the National Lodge steps in and does what we should have done months ago.
Enough of the BULLSHIT men and women, lets get some productive restoration back at FOP#7. Thank You SCC

If you've never needed the FOP then you have no contract including pension health or pay which you get every two weeks. You have never been the recipient of a bad cr or have never needed representation. I assume you have never been involved in a police shooting nor ever been a witness to one.

Why don't you crawl back to your desk job and don't waste your valuable company time on the blog.

I believe that Tom McDonagh was only a trustee in 2007 when I was shot and not someone with an office at the Lodge but I heard from Tom throughout the year I was recuperating and immediately upon my return to duty in Area 2. Granted, Tom is a close friend now but wasn’t back then. His character is what gets my vote.

I really hope that Dougherty, Donahue and Hauser lose. Especially Doherty wanting to throw all the retirees into Obamacare.

My Dad did almost 40 years on the job. He maxed out with 32 years and a day in 1983.

Had he left in 1983 he and my mom would have city subsidized healthcare for life. He didn't, he worked.

Had he left in 1984 he and my mother would have city subsidized healthcare for life. He didn't he worked.

Had he left in 1985, he and my mother would have city subsidized healthcare for life. He didn't retire, he worked.

Had he left in 1886, 87, 88 thru August of 1989 he and my mother would have gotten city subsidized healthcare for life.

My Dad after nearly 40 years of service retired in 1991 and having loved job. He worked in tough districts in some of Chicago's toughest neihborhoods. It never bothered him as he was tough having grown up in the depression and serving in World War 2.

This man was represented by Donahue, Dougherty and Houser who agreed with a date in 1989 not taking into consideration length of service. Therefore, those that worked less got MORE in the form of City subsidized healthcare for life.

People think these nitwits are experienced. I say experienced at what, like selling out and offering up those that have given the most to Obamacare.

I ask everyone with the slightest bit of intelligence to say no to these clowns, they have and will continue to sell all of us out.

I can only speak to rich's charges since I was the one who filed them...I was told the committee will be picked on reg business meeting which should be tues the 4th 7 less something changes. I would guess Moriarty ' s would be picked that day too but I didn't know formal charges were actually filed after the Google case.
As for election committee, they could make any rulings. That is up to the election judge and since the first was fired, second resigned 4 days into the job, and the 3rd was just appointed, I am not sure how soon we will have a ruling on the violations but Danny is doing his job as best he can under the ridiculous games being played.

To the other posted who referenced voting for the guy with numerous discipline issues....walk a mile in my shoes before you speak. The lawsuit just won shows that standing up to white shirts gets you little on this job except retaliation yet I have a track record of fighting the whole way and never backing down. That's exactly why I decided to run and I assure you I received ALOT more retaliation than Brian did but I am glad he stuck to his guns and fought. This department would be better for EVERYONE if more did it.

I was in one shooting but missed I guess I've been lucky. I've been sued multiple times and represented by hired attorneys for the city. Let me explain I should of stated the F.O.P. and all other unions of the present time are not strong enough to accomplish anything that is gonna really affect my life I've have 3yrs left and I would have no problem retiring with the contract as it is I'm not concerned about a pay raise or losing my retro. I am only concerned about my pension and healthcare. two issues no union is strong enough to do anything about anymore. So I would not complain if I never get another raise I just want to keep what I have, but it is very intelligent of you to assume I'm a inside person and I complain. SCC

Again, in reference to posting dated 2-27-2014 @10:28 hrs.
P.O. John Catanzera's response to the the 3 questions asked was a response I've heard time and time again.
THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH OUR CURRENT ACTING PRESIDENT, BILL DOUGHERTY, you can NEVER get a quick response on issues relating to this office.
Dougherty is going to WAIT until Tuesday-March 4th, at the Board meeting to address issues on Election concerns, possibly fraud. WTF !!!!!!!!
It appears we have a " KOSCHMAN-RICHEY DALEY" approach to cover up at FOP #7.
Maybe the next President will find the illegal copy of the YOU TUBE video that smeared other candidates not alligned with Bill Dougherty.
Under Bill's leadership, FOP #7 responds when it's favorable for Bill DOUGHERTY and the CITYWIDE SLATE, but stands MUTE when real concerns are brought to his attention.
But there is a silver lining in his approach to tough questions and concerns. After March 7th and with the help of those P.O.'s concerned with fairness and honesty, Bill DOUGHERTY should be voted out as President, along with the other self serving greedy candidates who line their pockets, just like Richey Daley did for 22 years.
I should not be surprised Bill, after all your a product of the 19th Ward, a strong-arm of the Rich Daley machine, as in STRONG ARM ROBBERY
of Ballot's casted. Thank You SCC

We've done the research, we've interviewed the candidates. We've spoken to their x-lovers. This is the legit list. It's over at FOP

1. Don't vote for anyone associated with Shields.

2. Don't vote for anyone that has been in office 3 terms.

3. Don't vote for any ticket that supports and has members that violate rules 1 or 2.

4. Vote for the Independent candidates.

There are 101 candidates running for FOP office.

Of those 101 there are 9 (yes only nine) that are independents not associated with one of the 4 teams or the board.

These are the officers that can hold others accountable. Vote for these 9 first, and then vote for whatever team you like. Only at that time will there be adequate checks and balances.

To all interested in the FOP election, as of this afternoon there are approximately 7700 ballots returned. This means that there are approximately 9300 ballots still out there. If you have not returned your ballot, please take the time and fill it out. We need to show the citizens of Chicago, the mayor and anyone else that we truly care about our future. So those in the 9300 category, please take the time this weekend to fill in your ballot and drop it in the mail. We all need to give a fuck this time around folks.

On another note, in my 19 years on this job, I have come across many people. I have a unique perspective being a northsider and working on the southside for the last 14 years. A dear friend mine, Kevin DUFFIN, will be the new commander of the 020th District. Kevin is arguably the sharpest police officer I have met in my time on the job but more importantly, he's one the better people I have met on this job. For those of you that know Kevin, I say nothing you do not already know. For those that will be meeting him for the first time, enjoy. Kevin is a true gentleman.

What exactly do the trustees do?

Trustees are basically the eyes and ears of the membership. They should be the ones who are accessible always and relay the sentiments of the members. But realistically they collect 600.00 per month to do nothing except attendca meeting. When there's work to be done they are invisible. They show up for freebees and trips. They get the free bbqs and booze.
The trustees need to be just that ,Trustees. You entrust a board vote to them.
Between the current trustees there is a handful of credible ones.

As board members are concerned the greed is there but the dedication is not.
You know who you are. I remember vividly that our local trustee in 025 Ed King; he did NOTHING. "worked" in the district for 8 hours and worked his side business the rest of the time. But stood there when we picked up our retro claiming he was one of the reasons it was there. He is just the example. The bar is set very low. No offense Ed. Facts are facts.
Most trustees and lower level board spots are merely supplemental income. Am I right Jim Moriarty? Its All about you.
Don't vote for friends unless its best for the membership. This is business. Its not personal.
But I voted. How many of you assholes won't vote yet you'll be the first one on this blog bitching about everything. You ambivalent fucks are the problem. VOTE.
I'm just saying

The question is how could the Citywide Team have let this happen. Also, I love when Mark Donahue discusses, "I am a registered lobbyist." Hey Mark - anyone can register as a lobbyist!

Yeahhhh, kilmer said his slate could have been better put together but he had nothing to do with it. He said his good family friend put the slate together and wouldn't have done it the way it came out. Kevin stopped by the academy and he said this to a few people here he knew. I couldn't understand why KEVIN is running with this slate if he doesn't like them at all? So i cast my vote for just a few trustees only. I know KEVIN'S slate is not so CLEAN if only because of HIM!
