Here's a Stupid Poll
- Illinois voters still have mixed opinions about gun rights, according to new data released Monday by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois University.
Numbers from the poll, taken Feb. 12-25 and surveying 1,001 registered voters, show 52.3 percent of registered voters feel less safe since Illinois passed its concealed carry law last summer while 31.8 percent of respondents said they felt more safe.
Opinions varied with geography, as 64.5 percent of respondents from Chicago felt less safe while 54.6 percent of those in the Chicago suburbs felt less safe.
Downstate, those who feel more safe and those who feel less safe were statistically equal, with 41.9 percent and 40.5 percent, respectively.
If you go all the way back to when the first permits were issued via US Mail, Concealed Carry has been in effect for eight whole days - plenty of time (according to the liberal gun grabbers) to form a lasting and well-informed opinion on how a law functions in the face of thirty-plus years of leftist propaganda.
Oh, and also during those eight days, we have yet to see a single report of streets running red with blood, gunfights at the OK Corral, incidents of road rage, flashing guns at restaurants, or any of a million scenarios involving legally owned firearms spouted by the Chicken Little crowd. Imagine that.

Despite the lore, the gunfight at the OK Corral only ended up killing three. An average summer afternoon here can tally at least that but it'll never be made into a movie.

Another bullshit, Media -Contrived Poll.
Dam democrats !
Silly (stupid) poll.
When I read this originally, I immediately considered the source. Total lib slant. They make it sound like it was completely random and "scientific," but a skilled pollster can completely manipulate the data to favor a position (the structure of the questions, the tone of the person reading the questions, even the selection of those polled). Remember: there's lies, damned lies and then there's statistics . . . .
Mmmm-Hmmm...
At the end of the day, the liberal, nanny-statist gun-grabber agenda that pushed forward the commissioning of this "poll" will mean the sum equivalent of dick-all when a squad of Skull-Men cut your screen and scamper through your bedroom window...
M/fers gathered around your bed while breathing on you really hard through their mouths...
Are you soft and tender people ready? This is what they want you to be defenseless in the face of.
No Police for you... They're dispatched by the mayor to lend the appearrance of giving a fuck about the ghetto when it's a very real "FUCK YOU" to what's left of Chicago's middle and working class.
Heh... Every man for himself.
Every man according to his conscience and his ability to make peace with his God.
Compare these polls with the views of a real leader of police in Detroit, of all places...

Occurrence waiting to happen in this ornery, tough town.
I hate to quote demorats, but as Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare, we have to pass it to see what's in it. . . .
What's good for the goose . . .
Poll notwithstanding, the circuit court forced Illinois to join the remaining states in the union and allow CCW.
This is pure socialist spin to get unconstitutional laws on the books against gun owners.
This will backfire on them in a very, very big way.
The real numbers can be easily found. Of the 33,000 concealed carry applications in the first month, 1/3 were from Cook County.
Over half a million are going to be issued in Illinois this year. This terrifies the socialists, because they want to be the only ones with the guns in order to control the people.
Arm yourselves against the government that seeks to disarm you and control every aspect of your lives.
When you live in a state acknowledged as the most corrupt in the nation, you better be armed against them when they try to deny your constitutionally protected natural rights.
That reminds me. Have you renewed your NRA membership yet?
Democrats lie. It's what they do. Next order of business.
Funny how all of those anti gun democrats have guns themselves. This propaganda piece they're throwing out smells of desperation.
A little digging on the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute reveals their "work"...

===========================
If my math is correct, that equates to the likelyhood that 1 in 470 people in Cook County are carrying.
Granted, all those who are licensed may not carry all the time, as more get licensed, that number we'll go down and I think that's a good thing.
Right to carry is going to highlight even more that the gun control freak liberals and the sippy-cup media in Chicago are full of shit because the world isn't going to come to an an and it's not going to be the OK Corral on the streets of Chicago (lest not anymore then dude makes it with gun "control").
But, as the topic of this thread evidences, that's not going to stop them from screaming about a crisis or doing their darnedest to create one.
If the people in this poll are unhappy and feel uncomfortable about the right to carry think the law should be repealed, then so should Obamacare.
A lot more people were against that before and after it was passed & since it's been passed, a lot more people have been -- really -- hurt.
it's been a total unmitigated clusterfark from its inception.
Where's the poll on that you suck-ass Chicago media types??
This is going to be fun to watch.

Maybe someday soon I can legally possess my AR15 in Chicago and even get ammo shipped to my home like the rest of the state can.
This poll is whore-shit because the wording and structure of the questions is slanted and misleading.
Too many people in Illinois willingly follow the Judas Goat on this lib-tard nonsense.

Paul Simon was a Liberal Communist who never met a minority program to give away our money. His daughter, "Buck Tooth" aka "Mr. Ed", probably wrote this crap.
Yes, and things are getting crazy. in Palos Heights there are going to post those :" no guns" signs along the route of a charity race. Condo associations are also planning on posting these signs on their buildings.
Join the national and state rifle association for starters. fight the gun grabbers.
Consider the source:
"Paul Simon Public Policy Institute"
"To underscore that theme, Simon's platform is an old-line liberal blueprint, calling for increased educational spending, a revival of guaranteed jobs programs in the style of the Depression era and a healthy dose of government interventionism."

In today's fibune, some pinhead dr. from deerfield wrote "I doubt most of us will feel more secure seeing people carrying guns." WTF does he not understand about the word concealed?
One particular poll I discovered is that 100% of gangbangers feel less safe since the Concealed Carry Act was passed.
Another poll is that Rahm Emmanuel and Garry McCarthy feel 100% emasculated since the the passage of the Concealed Carry Act.
And 100% of Concealed Carry Licensees feel vindicated after years of having their Constitutional Right to keep and bear arms have been given back to them.
Are there any other polls you guys have heard of?!
Dougherty is going to circumvent the election process. He is not going to make the people we elected field reps. He is going to bring up his friends who were voted out by the membership. Pure arrogance.

I would really love to see a poll/study indicating the number of crimes committed with a legally owned gun being used by legal owner of that gun/weapon vs. the number of crimes committed with illegal ones. Maybe our elected officials are focusing on the wrong thing? Money has been poured into stranger things in the past.
I see polls all the time, yet I have never got a call asking my opinion. Anyone else???
Not only is that poll stupid, its meaningless -- besides for that little constitutional thingy :-)
That poll consisted of only 1,001 "registered voters" and that 52.3% polled who want more gun control equals only 524 people, and 'folk' ;-). Making it even more laughable is that the Poll has a margin of error (MOE) of 3.5%. That means the 52.3% could in actuality be 48.8% or a whopping 488 morons who have zero idea of what their God given Rights are.
Plus, when you go read the actual poll (adobe .pdf) you find that the number of 'More Gun Control' ijits has dropped significantly in only one year.
So all in all, that shouldn't be good news to the gun-grabbers, not considering how the libtard moonbats say 'IL is a Blue State' and all (yeah, riiiiight)
There is a word for that
Hoplophobia
is a neologism, originally coined to describe an "irrational aversion to firearms, as opposed to justified apprehension about those who may wield them."[1] It is sometimes used more generally to describe the "fear of guns"[2][3] or the "fear of armed citizens."[4]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoplophobia
Funny how someone was murdered 2 blocks from my home by someone illegally carrying gun, but when I carried legally at the grocery store last night no one was hurt or murdered.
And you won't see good law abiding citizens flashing their CCW gun. But you will always see bad guys doing just that...
MS
I don't feel safe in police facilities anymore with all the accidental weapon discharges. Take that poll and see the results.
I live in Cooter Country and we all know carrying a gun is just an accessory for your wardrobe. Yee Haw!
Does anyone realize how much we have lost during the citywide reign? Desk lock up bid positions, bud percentages on watches. We lost spots by district furlo picks. We have lost the acting desk Sgts. We have lost grievance over grievance. Change is good.
There's no way they're going to issue anywhere CLOSE to half a million of these by the end of the year. Not the way they've priced them outdof the reach of a HUGE number of people who need this self-protection the most. May not have been a goal, but the end result is going to be perpetuated dependence on a government that doesn't give a fuck about them, to peotect them. And we ALL know there aren't enough police in this COUNTRY to proactively prevent crime.
Best I figure, by the end of the year, I'll be surprised if they even get 300,000 applications. In a state with a population of 12 million, that's less than 3% of the population they're worried about having gun fights at the OK Corral. Too bad their irrational fear of guns keeps them from knowing how seriously almost ALL (obviously clean-nosed, law-abiding) CCL holders are going to take that responsibility once they have it.
How many people do they think have guns specifically to commit crimes already, and have for YEARS?? We don't suddenly jump through legal hoops to become criminals.
Wait, never mind, that's logic, and it does not compute for them.
How many

I would like to see the city of Chicago write another check to the National Rifle Association. Keep it up, you desperate assholes in city and state government. How many times can you be spanked in the courts?
I guess when it's the people's money you waste fighting the Constitution, it's pretty easy. You will soon be voted out.

"McCarthy said it’s the responsibility of concealed carry license holders to immediately inform police officers if they’re armed when they’re pulled over for a traffic violation."
One would think that the Supt would know what the law actually says.
There is no duty to inform unless the LEO asks the CCL holder if they are armed.

Our mayor doesn't want an independent thinker in the position. Could never happen.
Whats all this "OK corral" bullshit being brought up since concealed carry hit? It's BEEN happening. 10 people got shot on monday, friday will be the same. If CC holders started shooting blindly in the streets of Chicago tomorrow it would be business as usual in this city stat wise.
So, a vote forDaugherty, is a vote for Agu-liar? Dean's got my vote.
"the wild-wild west"

An armed society is a polite society.
Last week ABC7 TV news ran a piece about some La Grange moms that were going door-to-door to try to convince businesses on La Grange Rd to put up the "No Guns" sign. 5 moms in the "Blueberry Hill Pancake Shop". Got nowhere.
Out there a few days later. Did not see one of those signs on any store.

My understanding of the issue is not in question. The fact that Dougherty will choose to do it where I have the problem. I voted for Casiano, Bella, and Kilmer and I want them in the office handling the duties I voted for them to do. Not agular, bailey, and graham. Even shields kept Dougherty and agular in the office last election. After the terrible 3 years this union had, do you really think bills first act in office is to remove the folks the membership voted in? If you don't see anything wrong with that, then you must feel way better about the current state of the union then I do.
Libtard-dummycrat propaganda
I made "the decision" 4 years ago. After having my business broken into twice and being assaulted at gunpoint I decided I would not be an unarmed victim.
Do I feel safer with a permit system in place? You bet your ass I do.
Now, I only have to worry about bad guys, not catching felony charges every time I walk out the door.
Signed, NAC (not a cop)
Not to worry. Given all the stupid "No Guns" signs going up everywhere (even banks, which you might leave carrying some cash!) most people with CCL's will be leaving them in their cars.
Wait for it...."Hey, we gotta stop this CCL stuff because crooks are stealing their guns from cars."
How about IL copy WI. In WI if you put up a "No Guns" sign you are LEGALLY obligated to provide protection to customers/visitor, who, if harmed by a criminal, can now SUE YOU INTO OBLIVION.
No, in IL anyone congenitally short one spine can put up a "No Guns" sign with impunity.
IL sucks.

My bet is if Bill gets elected he will put his people in those positions.
Change the rules to state the inside people are the elected ones. That would remedy the situation and it should have been done years ago.
You still dont get it. You voted for them to hold a particular office, not get the inside spots. They don't have an election for those spots.

The president can't remove the po's you voted in from a position they never held. I checked a copy of my ballot and didn't see any place to vote for field reps or inside spots.
