More Money

  • South Side activists denounced “cul-de-sac” critics Monday and called for more cash — not less — for anti-violence programs such as Gov. Pat Quinn’s troubled Neighborhood Recovery Initiative.

The Rev. Michael Pfleger and former state Sen. Alice Palmer were among those who appeared at a news conference at The Ark of St. Sabina in the Gresham neighborhood to support the now disbanded program that was assailed in a blistering audit last month and is now facing a steady drumbeat of negative headlines.

Palmer, who helped manage the project in the South Shore neighborhood, defended the hiring of two gang members through the program there — only to have one wind up accused of the other’s murder.
Only in the liberal mind can failure be interpreted as a need to spend more money on a rat-hole of a program. No competent oversight, no responsibility, just burn through a few more millions in tax dollars as the state slowly sinks under crushing debt.

Your last paragraph hit the nail on the head. When faced with failure, shovel more money down the rathole.

"•I have a relative who works in the Emmanuel administration. There is a term circulating around City Hall concerning the police department. It's "Dead Weight."

The city has been auditing activity of the CPD officers and comparing the activity to the surrounding suburbs and, of course, New York"

I call BS. You are a weak troll. SCC might have bit, but I won't

FAIL harder next time

It's the basis of all liberal governance excuses -- "You didn't let us spend enough money, so our ideas failed."

Obama's stimulus? Another 2 trillion would have done it. Education? Skyrocketing "investments" aren't enough, we need more.

There ain't no shame in their game.
Any city problem will improve if you
continue to throw money at it or
them. After all, it's not coming out
of the politicians (mayor and flunkies) pockets, it's OPM, other
peoples money, and there's always more where that comes from.
A new tax or fee here, or increase
an existing tax or fee there, you
get the picture. And the sheeple will not complain and will still re-elect you time after time, after time.

That's an excellent question, and I'd love 10 hour days. Another question of mine is, what are we as a union asking for from the city? During the last negotiations I recall being given questionnaires and having a list of issues that were being sought out through collective bargaining. Maybe I'm an ass and just don't see it, but the new and improved FOP website doesn't have any detailed information on what we're fighting for. I don't want this to be a bitchfest about the Shields regime versus someone's else's, but am I delusional in thinking that we had moved forward as a union and were previously being kept appraised of the status and demands of our negotiations? I have the feeling that when the contract is finally settled by the arbitrator, it's going to feel like getting a present as a kid from the relative that never asked what you wanted. You just have that feeling that when you open it up you're not going to like what you see.

Good comment SCC. In the liberal mind there doesn't exist a problem in our society that can't be cured by throwing other peoples money at it.

Its only taxpayer funded public money. The cunning intellect of hillary sums it up: "What difference – at this point, what difference does it make?" John Q. Public must declare all income and attest to an accurate account for any and all identified income sources without exception under penalty of perjury, the threat of criminal prosecution and levied penalties on the tax revenue side. Public revenues are derived under a very real threat of criminal prosecutions for omissions, inaccuracies or procedural errors by citizen friendly agencies like the I.R.S.

Those who spend public monies are given a pass for a full accountability absent a threat of perjury or other criminal prosecution. We read about similar willie-nilly politically connected hand outs of public money all the time so one can assume this is standard operating procedure. It seems the government revenue processes and procedures are airtight and lots of accountability applies. When it comes to the distribution scams under so many names, money flows like Niagra Falls over the edge not to be seen again. We are constantly reminded government and quasi-government agencies are always running deficits. How about a full and accurate accounting for all the money received and services provided to John Q. Public. How about public assistance benefactors submit receipts and expenditure statements signed under penalty of perjury accounting for all that “free” unaccountable money? Taxpayers must submit by law all those legal type tax forms for their lawfully earned income and waste their valuable time trying to figure out how to comply with tens of thousands of pages of the constantly changing tax code.

These anti-violence programs can be very profitable if you are an administrator. These programs use tax money from the producers and subsidize those who commit criminal behavior and terrorize the working populace. What is the return on investment? Not like the criminal element will stop change their ways. I would rather see the good people receive some sort of program rewarding those who make a concerted effort to follow the rules and will probably contribute most to society. This is an income redistribution scheme of a different stripe from the law abiding to the lawless non-producers and their money managing sponsors. Good money rewarding bad behavior. Who would have thought?

"Only in the liberal mind can failure be interpreted as a need to spend more money on a rat-hole of a program." -- SCC

In the liberal mind, the fact that something has been tried, tested, experienced, and found wanting, counts for nothing. Nothing can ever be discarded, eliminated, because it doesn't work or is actively harmful.

No! This only means that you don't understand it, and that you need more of it crammed down your throat -- blared from the rooftops, shoved in next door to you, written into all entertainment and advertising, and taught to your children in the schools as the frantic snuffling and rooting for the last saved-up penny earned by the last productive generation goes on and on.

"These anti-violence programs [and other 'social programs'] can be very profitable if you are an administrator."

Administrator, manager, coordinator, facilitator, director, etc. The whole place one big shiny office building that absorbs money and in return emits noise, s__t, carbon dioxide, and waste paper as it destroys the society around it.

"Re-making the world" -- unbidden.

It's a living..

Pfleger is just emulating another bastion of integrity and towering intellect, Maxine Waters. She was famous for getting federal funds to pass out to gang-bangers in her district on the premise that "they won't have to steal no more."
