Fathers' Day Mass
Once again, the Chaplains making that special effort for our fallen fathers:
- CPD FATHERS' DAY MASS AT GOLD STAR MEMORIAL AND PARK - 10:00 A.M. SUNDAY, 15 JUN 2014
ALL ACTIVE AND RETIRED CPD MEMBERS, CHAPLAINS MINISTRY SUPPORTERS AND FAMILIES ARE WELCOME
Mass will be finished by 10:30 a.m. for the sake of on-duty worshippers
While this is a Catholic Mass, ALL are welcome to come and honor dads whose names are inscribed on the walls of the memorial
Bring lawn chair / blanket ... and if you wish, food for picnic lunch after Mass
IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER, call Fr. Dan Brandt, CPD Chaplain, at 773/550-2369 for status

Yet another example of our Chaplains Ministry support for our troops.
One of their motto's is...
'Your partner has got your back, we've got your soul.'
We're again blessed to have a class act in Fr. Dan and Rabbi Wolf.
Thank them next time you bump into them on the street... 'Chicago's Finest!'

Bingo! You hit the nail right on the head with that observation. As long as police officers act like this, as others stand by and do nothing to stop it (like the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil stupid monkeys), we will continue to get sued, and lose! One of these assholes will probably loses his job and his house over this- and for what? To make a point? You can make your point, and act professionally at the same time, instead of being just a thug with a star. We don't need cops like this- they make all of us look bad.
From one who sometimes questions the existence of God, I must say thank you to both Father Brandt and Rabbi Wolf.
I have talked to Father Dan many times, asking him to reach out and speak to Officers who might need someone to talk to or in need of help. I have attended his Sunday Mass (not as often) as I should. And asked for his prayers when needed, (I had ankle surgery 2 May 2014) which I had put off way to long. I can tell you he is not only a great man of the cloth, but also somebody who will make you laugh and sometimes cry. Father Dan and Rabbi Wolf can be reached by phone and they do return calls. We are lucky to have clergy like them. Please support the Mass on Father's Day. I am going to try to get there. At present I am in a non weight bearing cast until at least 29 May, then non weight bearing boot for 2-4 weeks, getting around is a little hard, For of you still fighting the fight stay safe and look out for each other. You are the Thin Blue Line
Father Dan & Deacon Bob are the real police. They hit the street for 12 to 15 hours on Wednesday into Thursday. They are Saints. God Bless Us....

Knew Rich my whole career with the CPD. Met him when he was a Sgt in 015. Rich was always the police and watched over all people under his command. His kind is a rare breed that is nil with the CPD.
He was a warrior in every way. He bucked that idiot former Female cmdr that threaten her side squezze when he was in 011.
Rich would never hurt a copper and mentored many of the young bucks.
Get better Rich, hope I run into you in our travels.
The good Father DB along with all chaplins are a gift from God to us. Dear Rabbi Moshe can be at two places at the same time !
CPD member' should honor these men and women of God. Extend your hand to them every chance you get, Father Dan and our former head guy, Father Tom saved more lives then anyone knows, This includes the greatest Rabbi in the world, Moshe Wolf.
We should start a benifit kust for these men of God. Money they could be put in their pocket...they will protest, but so what.. but the gig would draw thousands. I would get involved and sure our retired friend Capt Rich.
Stay wekk and be safe, all of you sworn members of the CPD. The job is a calling from the Almighty himself. Laugh and love each other. For we are all brother and sisters.
Us retired guys are with you in your travels on the mean streets of Chicago.
Be careful Father Dan.....Father McCarthy from St Rita has been having mass for 20 years on the lakefront for Easter.....this year he received a bill from Chicago Park District for a few hundred bucks for a permit.....absolutely ridiculous but 100% true....
