Here's the latest spin:

• The first four months of 2014 were marked with fewer shooting incidents and victims, but saw two more murders compared with the same period in 2013, according to police.
  
  From January through the end of April, there were 12 fewer shooting incidents than the same period in 2013, Chicago Police spokesman [...] said in a statement early Thursday. There can be more one shooting victim per incident.
  
  Also, four fewer people have been shot this year compared with the first four months of 2013, [News Affairs] said, and 210 fewer compared with the same period in 2012.
  
  But two more murders have been logged this year than 2013, Collins said. Murders are down by 59 compared with 2012.

Notice that they are saying "shooting incidents." Why is that we wonder? Oh yeah, because it is a manipulated statistic.

  Total Homicides: 35 (24)

So all that stuff about how crime was down the first quarter of the year?  Big fucking deal when you make up all that ground in a single month with almost 100 more shot over last years total.

And those double-digit reductions in homicide numbers? Doesn't mean much when we're up 11 just for April 2014 compared to April 2013. That's an upward tick folks. And if the rise continues through May, it's a trend. Why else would they being offering 4 hour tours of overtime in the parks? And they're bringing up 2012 - the outlying year? Desperation.
