A Hero? Seriously?

  • Sneed has learned Ald. Anthony Beale (9th) has become a hero in the type of scandal that has sent at least 18 Chicago aldermen to jail since 1973.

    [...]

On Monday, Beale confirmed with Sneed that he was the alderman who did the right thing.

    [...]

“Historically, bribery tends to be the honey which has lured many alderman into jail cells,” said a Sneed source. “It turns out Ald. Beale became an unlikely hero because he immediately reported the bribery attempt to authorities and an undercover investigation began,” the source added.
Um, he isn't supposed to take a bribe. It's kind of against the law. You aren't a "hero" for following the rules. And you certainly aren't a "hero" if you "...confirmed with Sneed that he was the alderman who did the right thing." That part reeks of posturing.

Stop slobbering Sneed. You're embarrassing yourself.

Beale knew he was getting set up.. He covered his ass by reporting it... He was smart enough to know where to take money from and not worry.. This was not one of them... Also, you get one of these stories on your record in case you get caught in the future so u can say how u didn't take in the past so why start now.. It's a chess game.. Beale is just a little better at it than others

Beals aid got nabbed for taking the bribe. Don't doubt the alder creature would have gotten his end if the deal wasn't detected by the Feds.

He smelled a rat, refused, and made paper on the attempt to bribe him. 10 years from now, he will get caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Back in 2012 didn't Jesse White ask Lisa Madigan to look into faked time sheets and misuse of a state car by Beale's wife?! Beale must not have known what his wife was up to or he certainly would have run to authorities with that information. Hero my ass!

THANK THANK THANKS!!!!! You read my mind. I said the same exact thing that our morality has come so low in Chicago politics and media that when someone who does their job to report corruption, they are considered A HERO!!!???? Is this a friggin' joke!? They are doing their job, nothing more or less! Standards are so low in this city and county that we throw parties because someone does what they are hired to do. I would imagine this "Hero" is already making $100,000 a year, isn't that good enough for him? Now he wants to be a Hero!? WTF. This society is F##CKED!

Last night while driving home I did not do a drive by shooting. I passed a bank and did not rob it. I saw a very attractive young lady getting into her car at the curb but did not touch her. I stooped at all the stop signs and stayed within the speed limits.

By Sneed's standards, I should be canonized by Saturday.

I believe Beale smelled a rat.

I drove 39 miles yesterday in several sections of the city and didn't speed one time. I also followed ALL of the rules of the road, stopping at stop signs and obeying all traffic signals. I even stopped and waited while a school bus off loaded! Members of the media, please tell me, am I a hero to? I sure hope I can be one for following the laws for this one day, just like Ald. Beale.

Sounds pretty ridiculous doesn't it Sneed.....

from Wikipedia:

Beale on August 24, 2009 became the second alderman to concede his daughter was admitted (in 2004) to an elite free public college prep high school, Whitney Young High School, after he called principal Joyce Kenner.[4]

In February 2012 the Chicago Dispatcher reported that Beale attended a fundraiser in his honor held by members of Chicago's taxicab industry just five days before legislation governing the industry was to be heard, which he and Mayor Rahm Emanuel introduced. The Chicago Dispatcher also reported that certain provisions of the legislation changed just prior to the hearing, which were favorable to taxicab operators who threw the fundraiser.

Thirty some years ago, my partner made the observation that, common 1st words out of an inner city person we stopped would be, "Office, I'm a working man" as a reason to give him a break. Working was the exception to the rule of the neighborhood and should be a factor in treatment? And it often was taken into consideration by us. Strange world!

We reported to roll call sober, fit for duty, clean and pressed uniform of the day, answered our calls in a timely fashion, served a small portion of activity salad (just enough of a little bit of everything... the days of pulling into the district lot with the rear bumper dragging and the back seat full of cryin', cussin' and yellin' assholes are long gone) to keep supervisory jaw-jacking to a minimum, interacted with the public without taking money, planting dope or beating the shit out of asses that desperately needed it nor did we become embroiled in potential work place violence situations trying to avoid these bad supervisors who KNOW we and others TRY to avoid them because they're bad, ignorant in the extreme, incompetent etc...

Shit... Can we have those long ago Valor Awards and D/Cs we were put in for but cheated out of, Sneed?

Maybe I worked with you but I recall dude telling me years ago, as I arrested him, "Officer, I got a JOB!" He said that over and over. That was reason enough to give him a pass. I've had a job all my life from age 18 until I retired from the CPD. To pay for his bullshit but that doesn't matter. Now the fucking democrats are talking about "income equalization." That's all the working class needs is to give even more of their paycheck to worthless shitheads.

This just means that there's something in the works for alderman Beale. Sneed wouldn't put it in the paper if there wasn't something coming. Sneed doesn't print anything without city halls blessing. They offered him a bribe (land deal with Costco?) and he didn't take it...it wasn't large enough to be sent to jail for 18 months. Soooo he ratted out the stoolies that did take the $5g. And his trap is shut tight (unlike M. Scott) about the deals he and Shortshanks made with the Olympic bid & Michael Reese Hosp. scheme.
Some hero.
