Just wanted to thank Gerry for promoting clouted up Lt's and not any PO's this holiday season. The moral of the police department really needed some more Capt and not any PO's that had been waiting 12 plus years to be promoted off the first test they were eligible for. Go fuck yourself.
Thanks for the blog, SCC. I know it takes a lot of work to keep it good and keep it going.

Mixed among the faces of protesters nationwide calling for justice in the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown is a group of Communists fueling a movement against police officers and calling for mass demonstrations.
The Revolutionary Communist Party USA actively organizes and participates in protests against the deaths of Garner and Brown, who were both black and were killed by police officers. Now, the group is "preparing for a New Year’s Eve protest that calls for an end to police brutality through whatever means possible."
The Chicago-based group, founded in 1975 and led by chairman Bob Avakian, advocates for socialism with the “final goal of a communist world.”
The Revolutionary Communist Party did not return multiple phone calls and emails from The Daily Signal requesting comment.

The city didnt want to cancel days off and pay double time to forced volunteer to work midnites on the best shooting holiday of the year.

I'm retired and still a member. I received my FOP book and decals a week and a half ago. Although, I won't be affixing my decals to the windows of my vehicles. Doesn't mean shit nowadays.

We all need to make our department shine. Lets get an increase in that decrease of murder clearance rates. Write more contact cards, ANOVs, movers, hang on citations and get more crime reducing mission specific event numbers. Office personnel should be stewards of the earth creating less printed paper wastes promoting the green initiatives generating less without any purpose office busy reports, pie charts, bar graphs and fictional crime is down collaborative efforts for public consumption.
Wished my friends in blue a Happy New Year and did an impromptu survey. Time due denied for street police with front office staffs working regular hours. These staffs volunteer for the house mouse duties so the contract does not apply if they staffed a supplemental beat car boosting a police presence. Wonder if they would lose bladder control and soil their undergarments if they experienced actual gunfire outside qualifications. Gunfire as opposed to that annoying rat tat tat of an impact printer in the copy room.
The front offices across the city are staffed with prima donnas who boast athleticism and health with rigorous workout tales, healthy eating regiments, marathons, triathlons, bike to work fitness and other indications of excellent health. Office jobs were once reserved for officers with failing health, pregnancies and recuperating officers. Times have changed.

Happy New Year to law enforcement, other first responders and emergency room staffs. May the New Year bring good health, wealth and happiness. To all the citizens who respect society’s code of civilized behavior and appreciate what law enforcement contributes to an orderly society, Happy New Year to you and your families.
It’s a shame when good people in crime saturated areas must watch the midnight ball drop on television on the living floor putting them out of the line of fire should a stray round pass through their windows. Remember those non-FOID conforming non concealed carry licensed types celebrate the New Year by busting off caps recklessly without regard for other people's lives. And sadly, the courts have demonstrated time and time again, that criminal behavior rarely gets punished to the fullest extent and the catch and release doctrine is applicable.
Dear SCC: I walked out of my house to find blue ribbons on all of the light poles on my block. May God bless all of the first responders and those who support them! And a special "shout-out" to Patricia Mueller of the Mount Greenwood neighborhood, as she is the person who started this by decorating the light poles on 111th St. And she had plenty of volunteers helping her. Happy New Year to them all!

first off, quit crying. Second off, if you want to get promoted earlier then score better. If you score number one then hey guess what, not even merit can effect you. I know what your saying now because just by your comment I can tell EXACTLY what kind of person you are. You cry all about merit and how YOU got "screwed". You say you cant get in the "top 20" because of all the "special study groups". Yep, youre one of them. I took my very first test. I got hired in 2007 and took this past sgts test. I didnt get into a "special bosses study group", didnt get merit and I didnt get the answers ahead of time from some boss as guys like you always claim also. Guess what, I paid my money to take the bernstien study program just like 2000 other people did, I studied my behind off and I studied hard and almost daily for about a year. I ended up in the top 20 on the list. Now, Im sure within the next 6 months to a year ill get made.. Im not a braniac, Im not a inside house mouse who sits at 35th all day and reads and studies for the test im just a young guy who works a beat car.. thats it. See, You could have done it too.... but you didnt, you scored high which in the grand scheme of things is ok if you get made anyways but you refuse to blame yourself.. You whine, cry and pout about how other people did it too you. If you get made you get made, thats what its all about. HAVE PATIENCE!!! Weather it takes 2 months, 2 years or 12 years if you know its coming just be patient and gracefully take it when you get it.. If you cant be patient then SCORE BETTER!!! God, I hate to make myself look like a arrogant gloating A hole... which im not but guys like you drive me nuts. I pray that you DO get the promotion you are seeking and you get it soon but toughen up and stop blaming everyone else. The upper level management seems to demoralize those who risk their lives creating more and more “boxes” “missions” “zones” etc. strategies with the stroke of a pen and a direct order to subordinates. Your presence speaks volumes to officers across the city and we all appreciate your acknowledgement for those in the trenches.
On the other hand, you would think many of the gold stars would put together a spread and serve up coffee and sandwiches much like an inner city soup line much like politician photo ops during election cycles. Your presence and a simple thank you to those who are spending the holiday away from their family goes a long way to boost morale and even productivity.

Went to the service today at the Memorial. It was moving, beautiful and poignant. Good job to all involved. My 5 year old even told me after how the singer made a tear come down her cheek. Wish it would get a little more media coverage.

Thank you 1:10 PM for mentioning emergency room staff! Thank you for remembering first responders are NOT just police, fire, and paramedics, but also the medical staff that treats those you those you bring us from the field.
