Disclosure

  • Want to show your appreciation for the Chicago Police Superintendent who’s overseen another year-on-year reduction in the city’s murder rate, but not sure how?

    Here’s your chance!

How about a set of half a dozen Bernardaud Divine bread and butter plates? At just $90 a pop from Bloomingdales, they’ll “bring a luxurious element to formal dining with shimmering platinum-embellished porcelain” according to top cop Garry McCarthy’s wedding registry at theknot.com.
And then from the comments:
  • Hey, isn't he required by law to publicly disclose all gifts received over $50. in value???
Well, not everything. But if we remember our Ethics training, anything from someone he might have supervisory capacity over or someone in a position that might "request" a favor at some later date, like a politician or a business. Seeing as how this is the Superintendent of Police, there is quite a lot of potential for gifts crossing that $50 threshold.

The question now becomes, is that Ethics Statement listing public knowledge? Because it would interesting to see who bought what and what, if any, quid pro quo surfaces thereafter.

Remember, the Sup took off on New Years eve and the mayor took off with his beat up son to Chile for weeks on end........but PO's in 014 were not allowed to use a Personal Day on New Years Eve.

Thanks Dean..your really looking out for the unclouted PO.

Since we are 'disclosing' things and it's festivus season, I gotta say, besides the fact that I got problems with people (I'd say you but I'm not sure who 'you' is/are, haha), I wanna disclose some things:
1-No-it wasn't me that started all that
2-Yes-I said THAT(cuz it's true), but not the other thing
C-And sorry if I'm late on this or it's been covered, but is it just me or did the whole Roberts thing get mentioned on a 'newspaper' website after it was mentioned on an 'insignificant' blog,
And finally
4-Double oaked is really good

Wait until after the deadline for submission of the ethics disclosure statement covering the period in question and submit a FOIA request to the Board of Ethics.

The city ethics program, training, and disclosure form are worthless and have been since day one. Only there because some clouted firm that actually sells such crap got to the right politician in a time of weakness. Bosses are gonna take care of people for reasons other than a silly wedding gift. Now, if you're talking about an envelope full of cash, a different story.

Are you serious? No one was allowed to burn a personal on New Year's eve? What was their excuse? The drunk yuppies in wicker park out to party on amateur night must be a little too scary for the bosses. Whoever is running the show over there must be a real prize. But I'll bet they come to roll call every day with their hands asking for more cc, movers, prkrs, anovs etc. What a joke

Unclouted??? You must be new and clouted, because you work in 014 and do not know that time due is ALWAYS restricted on NYE.

Are you still in college that you have to have New Years Eve off? It's called amateur night for a reason. I'm sick of all you whinny crybaby do nothing's. And 014 does do nothing.

Do as I say not as I do is the superintendent's modus operandi. Rules apply to everyone except those who make/enforce the rules. Similarly, aldercreatures pass tough common sense reform ethics ordinances but exempt themselves and their staffs from compliance and scrutiny to the laws they write. Didn't the 50 thieves just cut the Inspector general's budget. Same goes for Congress. Pass laws for the masses and exempt themselves from their own laws. Laws are made to control the masses but those making the laws don't like to be controlled or held to that same higher standard of conduct. I'm so damn mad I just want to get drunk and shoot out the streetlights. Where did that thought come from?

Saw a web site copcollecter.com, sells authentic police badges cadged from retirees. Sells them for 150-500 bucks, star numbers intact. From all over usa. Looked up cpd, found three badges, dep sup, street dep, and one even higher, all gold braid. Not one patrolman listed a cpd or retirement badge. I think it says something about a gold braid that would sell his badge like that. Then I thought maybe one meritorious puke might be responsible for selling all three. I am glad I didn't see any patrolmans badges up there. They had an old pie plate from 1920, though, if any collecters are interested.

Lets stop questioning the actions of those who set the tone at the top for this organization. Lets focus on the true opiate of the masses, professional sports. Feed your addiction with the multi- billion dollar sports industry instead of some petty quasi ordinance violation. Write the supe an ANOV, give him an Administrative Hearing date, give him his citation for this transgression and lets move forward diverting your attention and cerebral resources to mumble mouth million dollar athletes in your fantasy picks.

IAD used to monitor all sales and auction sites for our stars. Not sure if they still do. Our recent obsolete design is okay to sell, though, much as it sickens me.

Forget ethics. If all they served were New York and Chicago-style hot dogs at the reception, I'd be giving them a set of Solo cups and paper plates.

Hot dogs and your choice of Pabst or Old Milwaukee doesn't rate gifts from Tiffany's or Nieman's.

That's not what they served for dinner. The hot dogs were cute fluff and it worked. Give the media a bone and they don't go hunting for the steak.
