Thursday Prayer Service

  • The Chicago law enforcement community honored its fallen brothers and sisters Thursday with a prayer service timed to mark the slayings of two New York police officers in December.

Officers and their families gathered at the Gold Star Families Memorial and Park near the shore of Lake Michigan at 2:47 p.m. — the exact time New York officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were shot to death without warning Dec. 20 in Brooklyn.

Chicago Police Chaplain Daniel Brandt said officers in Chicago are the “face of God” for many of the city’s residents.
Thanks to the Chaplains Unit for all they do.

Okay, I clicked the link and read it. And, while it was a nice quote, I did sort of wonder where the rest of the story had wandered off to.

Yes, thank-You to our Chaplains for all they do.

A thought for a retiree far away from Chicago...

Some vandals in a western state tried to set fire to a memorial to a police officer killed in the line od duty in 2007.

With all that is going on now has Mc(fill-in-the-blank) made certain that there is a guard detail 24/7 at our memorial outside Soldier Field?

Despite a notable chill in the air, a few hundred dedicated members along with their families and supporters turned out in front of the hallowed ground of our Gold Star Memorial water wall. At precisely 2:47 p.m., a solemn ceremony commenced coordinating the exact time our brothers Police Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were assassinated in New York.
After an introduction by Police Chaplain Father Dan Brandt, a short Homily was read followed by the reading of the names of all law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in 2014. Some of the notables reading the names included Police Chaplain Rabbi Moshe Wolf, FOP President Dean Angelo concluding with Chicago’s newly ordained Archbishop Blase Cupich.
While the pipes and drums echoed Taps, the Honor Guard placed roses within the holiday wreaths that adorned the memorial wall as Chicago Police helicopters flew overhead in a synchronized tribute to all our fallen.
The ceremony concluded with a tribute to the greatest country on earth, The United States of America!
Thank You to all who participated in this tribute, a true example of that revered product as, “Chicago’s Finest.”

A humble and proud participant.

It was really great. I was shocked at how many people showed up during the Blackhawks game and with the cold along the lakefront.
The readings of St Paul were right on and the mention of the Paid Political Protestors by Fr. Brandt was spot on. I mentioned they probably didn't show up because they were hung over from New Years celebrations with George Soros and the other members of the Communist Party.

Sure would have been nice to attend if the asshole media made mention of it before it was over....DICKS. Still, I don't need to attend to show our law enforcement officers proper respect on daily basis. Brought Donuts from bakery on Christmas eve to couple local stations. Guys couldn't have been happier. Thank you again men(and women)in blue.

Why don't you contact the Police Memorial Foundation ask to speak to Phil Cline ask him why there isn't a security detail.

I get press releases from the city as part of my job. This one went out at 10:45 AM on New Year's Day for an event at 2:45 PM that same day.

Would have been nice to have some notice, more than 4 hours on a holiday, you know? Don't blame us for not giving notice, blame your own department for the pisspoor public notice.

>Pffft!<

Slander?

CPD exempts stink of well deserved ill repute and disdain and should hang their heads in shame for helping to Make this department a spectacle.

God Bless all of you, many of us citizens are behind you and we need to join together to support you in some fashion. Please don't stop doing your job because of morons. We need you especially in the worst areas. Many of us are praying for all of you and since only God can judge us I am appalled at the judgement of white citizens who know nothing of what it is like in the toughest areas. Hang in there and know many of us love you, appreciate you and will stand with you.

THIS WAS NOT AN EVENT FOR THE PUBLIC; IT WAS PRE-PROMOTED WITHIN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

Remmeber some punk white shirt house mouse sat down @ their computer to write this drivel. It isn't the exempts so much, as the thousands of suckholes pimping for them on a daily basis.
