Police Shooting - Englewood
- A man was shot by police early Saturday in Englewood when he allegedly pulled a handgun on officers after trying to flee in a stolen car.
The shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of West 73rd Street, authorities said.
Officers with an Area South gun team were patrolling the area near West 73rd and South Ada streets when they saw a man trying to park a car, said Chicago police Deputy Chief Dana Alexander.
"The person was struggling to park the vehicle. It seemed odd to (the officers)," Alexander said at the scene. "They did a vehicle check on the car they observed, and the vehicle came up as stolen."
You have to love how the media says "allegedly pulled a handgun" and then later, state that a 9mm semiautomatic handgun was recovered. That would kind of negate the "allegedly" don't you think....

That's OK. I saw the light after Fergeson and the reaction of the public against us and for the criminals and ever since I've only allegedly been on patrol.
Why don't they say "A man was allegedly shot by police"?
Glad everything worked out. Dry fire your gun and do the malfunction drills every two weeks. It only takes ten minutes. You can do it before or after work. It is always nice to hear the good guys go home without a scratch.

You cant blame the press, you have to blame the lawyers. If he gets off of the charge, he can sue the newspaper. The lawyers screwed our language so it has no meaning, and our laws, so that everyone is guilty of something or nothing.

Any time a Black man is shot by police, it means that the Police failed to do something that could have avoided such a violent outcome. The new head of the FBI, who used to work for a Hedge Fund and as a Federal Prosecutor claims that the White Police need to rethink their strategies and attitudes. Lol now that's correct, wonder if rahm said before the cameras were televised "I only allegedly ran those numerous lights," "I only allegedly lived the city" Wonder if that really was his wife's wedding dress? Could of been a barbie dress for all we know!
Maybe the car was allegedly stolen and planted by those wily cops.

I was woking vri that night in 003. I was on the way in for check off when we came across a personal injury car accident at 67 and wentworth that blocked the intersection. With all that was going on that night in 007 couple cars from 007 stopped by and the paper car showed up right away. Big thanks to the officers from 007.

I'm 5ft tall I don't have to use non lethal methods. You either comply or.....
The United Sates Marines evacuated the U.S. Embassy in Yemen the other day after being ordered by the State Department to destroy weapons or their means of self defense upon evacuation. The military lovin’ patriotic Sate Department thought so much of our lightly armed Marines to send through a Mogadishu type metropolis populated by heavily armed ISIS guerrillas on their way to the airport after a recognized failure in foreign policy.
The leftists disarmed our Marines much like they seek to disarm our municipal, county and state police forces. And then subject these security forces to comply with their agenda despite the obvious dangers and threats. One can only conclude that the brave Marines and police officer’s lives are cheap and expendable in the eyes the smartest, most advanced degreed policymakers employed in D.C. Everyday Americans know the risks taken by our heroes both home and abroad, and value the lives of our nation’s sons and daughters despite the actions of those entrenched D.C. bureaucrats.

OT - but IMPORTANT!!!!!
For those of us who were IOD in 2014, you're obviously aware or should be aware that the wages you received while on IOD are exempt from taxation.
We all knew that, right? Great.
So you went and got your letter, right?
And your letter informs you and the IRS of the amount of excludable compensation that was included in box 1 of your W-2, right?
Right.
What the letter does NOT tell you or the IRS is that THE CITY ALSO WITHHELD TOO MUCH MEDICARE TAX AS WELL!!!
Following the letter, most of us who're doing our own taxes read the letter and figure they need to decrease the amount in box 1 by the excludable amount, which as it turns out is basically the only option. You're supposed to file your taxes by mail and send the letter with it to show why you reduced the box 1 amount.
For those of us using a tax program to do our taxes we likely did the same thing, reduced the amount shown in box 1 to reflect the excludable income that the city just throws into your box 1.
How many of us noticed that the BOX 5 amount ALSO INCLUDES THIS EXCLUDABLE AMOUNT?
How many of us noticed that THE CITY WITHHELD MEDICARE TAXES USING A GROSS FIGURE THAT INCLUDED THE EXCLUDABLE IOD INCOME?
Not so many I'm thinking because we all read the letter and do what it tells us to do.
The City not only withheld income taxes based on your IOD income that they should not have withheld, they also withheld too much Medicare tax as well.
In my case with about 6 months or so IOD, the city withheld over 400 bucks in Medicare taxes they weren't supposed to.
Most of us just adjust our gross wages and think we're supposed to get a bigger check because of it.
You're also owed the overpayment of Medicare tax as well!!!
Using a tax program, if you adjust the Medicare Wages and Tips you will see the City took too much out. You will also notice the application will increase your refund by this amount.
You may get some sort of notification from your tax program stating the City withheld too much. It may also tell you to get a corrected W-2 from the City. We know they will not give you one. We also know they're not going to give you a refund of the Medicare tax they withheld either, so it's up to you to file your taxes and show why you made all the adjustments.
MAKE SURE YOU FILE YOUR TAXES BY MAIL, INCLUDE THE LETTER AND MAKE SURE TO ADJUST YOUR BOX 5 AMOUNT TO REFLECT THE IOD INCOME THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN TAXED.
Don't let the City give away your tax dollars to the Feds when they have no claim to it.
Make sure you get all your overpayment back. Make sure your Box 5 amount is reduced by the amount shown on your letter from Finance.

We all suffer. It's part of life. The blessing is - while evil exists, divinity does too and it is stronger. According to the bible, divinity is available to all of us - we simply need to be still and give our gratitude and our problems to God.
This weekend, I feel blessed to know that I will see Chris again someday. I feel blessed I had the opportunity to be his wife, to learn from him and love him.
I feel blessed to know the support of many and the ignorance of few.
Today I sit on this beautiful porch on a ranch a friend has generously allowed us to find respite in. With a warm drink in a rocking chair and family and friends around, I am working on finding peace and joy in the moments we have been given. It doesn't have to all make sense. I don't have all the answers.
I remember when I met Chris and I remember praying to God for a genuine, NICE man weeks before we met. For any of you who are lonely today, I encourage you to pray. Pray for the woman or man who has a particular quality you feel you need more than anything else and watch God bring him or her in His time. Have faith.
My heart may be broken and my spirit tired, but today I thank God for sending my Valentine when I needed him the most. I thank God for the time we had, the children we share, the promise of seeing each other again and the friends and family who stay with me today.
I am forever changed and forever grateful.
