Repeat Offender Out on Bail

  • The man charged with robbing and killing 25-year-old Kevin O'Malley in Lakeview this weekend was awaiting trial for threatening police with a machete when the incident occurred, according to court documents.Kristopher

Pitts, 22, was charged with armed robbery and first-degree murder after he allegedly shot O'Malley about 2 a.m. Saturday in the 900 block of West Oakdale Avenue, police said.

He was out on bond at the time.
And of course, the usual politicians are making hay over this:
  • "This senseless act of violence cannot be ignored. I am pushing for increased police resources to our community, including from area and citywide units, to ensure that our residents and visitors are safe walking on our streets at all hours of the day," said 44th ward Ald. Tom Tunney, in a community email.
Anyone know how Tunney has been voting on police-related funding issues?
  • Tunney's office did not immediately respond to a request for more information on his push for more officers. In April, however, Tunney told DNAinfo Chicago he did not believe the Chicago Police Department would increase the number of officers in the Town Hall district.

Instead, he said he hoped to make sure the district was staffed at critical times, specifically nights and weekends.

"What I've always believed is there are enough police officers, they're just not always there at the time of day you think you need them. But that's a management issue, and I don't walk in their shoes," Tunney said in April.
Riiiiight.

Typical chicago politician response. Wait until something happens and then do something about it. Maybe you should have asked for more police before this happened.

He was out on bond because Toni Preckwinkle has been screaming for years now about brown skin people sitting in Cook County Jail in quantities way out of proportion to their population in the county. She says there ought to be an equal number of white people in there also to balance out the population.

She just cannot believe that the jail's population reflects the amount of crime brown and black skinned people commit in Cook County.

I know, Toni Preckwinkle is wackadoodle batshit nuts. Cops know the truth. Toni thinks we pick on the poor people of colour.

And that is why Kevin O'Malley is dead. Killed by a worthless vermin piece of excrement.

I feel so sorry for the O'Malley family. As for the Pitts household, why didn't they drown the little bastard at birth?

It is a management issue. The Mayor and the current Superintendent think their are enough police officers. There either aren't, or they are being wildly mismanaged. You cannot have it both ways.

If a police officer stops a driver that may be intoxicated and let's them go or lets another person drive them home and they get in a accident the police officer is held accountable. Maybe it's time to hold judges accountable for what happens when they put criminsls back on the street.

Agreed 100% this happened at 2am! All the tactical teams are gone by then!!! Why is that 019 district has 4 tactical teams and a entertainment team that covers the bars but not one of these 4 teams is around at night? One of the 4 tactical teams should be a midnight team starting at 10 pm and working until 6am. On any given night you can see 100-150 thugs walking up and down Belmont area causing trouble , loitering , flashing gang signs, robbing people, flash mobs, prostitution. etc etc. These tactical teams have no accountability. Why do they get off at midnight on the weekends? When they should be there to fight crime at the busiest times! I agree with Tunney 100%

I think everyone from Joe Citizen to the jaggoff politicians are beginning to see how under staffed the police department is. No need to worry Chicago , Rahm and the greatest copper ever (McJersey Shore) have it all figured out.... just as them. They will tell you that more police are not needed . They need to be deployed properly. Now go and tell that bullshit to the family of Kevin O'Malley.

The tact teams the tact teams blah blah blah. Tact guys have the same power of arrest and handcuffs the beat guy does. Sure make tact 2200-0700, and then when no one volunteers for it it'll go by reverse seniority. So all of you beefers on Midnights with no time on will get it, and then be pissed when they expect activity from you when you want "to hit the hole at 0400hrs".

I feel bad for the Wrigley/Lakeview citizens. Tunney is a putz. The GLBT crowd is actually getting tired of him, and the only reason he won in Feb was the people that ran against him were bigger idiots.

This is what I would do if I were a PO that worked a Beat in the 44th Ward:

Not write Street Cleaning.
Not write Rush Hour
Walk a beat in the block that he has his new office on, check all meters, time all loading zones, make sure everything is 100% kosher.
Stop every bike rider that blows a stop sign or stop light. And issue the Mover.

When He Complains...and he whines like a little B1t@h when he complains....tell him if he wants proper service from the Police...that the police need to have the correct numbers for Every department. And tell him if he wants street cleaning enforced...to call the Finance Department and ask them to send in the Guy on a Bike. Get that guy out of WD50 and WD41 FFS!!

"This senseless act of violence cannot be ignored." Tom Tunney is ignoring it, because to ignore the motivation behind it effectively ignores the crime. To call it "senseless" intentionally shuts off our thought processes as to why it is happening and how it has to be ended. The crime is not "senseless" - it has a specific racial motivation - people of one race are preying on people of another race in large part because of perceived weakness, and in large part because of entitlement and manipulation. What will Tom Tunney say next - that it was a "robbery gone wrong"?

All you folks who complain bitterly about Anita Alvarez wil be wishing you had her back if Kimberly Foxx is elected Cook County States Attorney. Foxx is Preckwinkle's Chief of Staff and Toni is putting all her muscle into getting Foxx elected as a replacement to Alvarez. She will take square aim at the automatic transfer of juveniles charged with murder to adult court rule. Preckwinkle says that rule unfairly targets brown juveniles. Uh, not a word of why brown juveniles commit murders or armed robberies or sexual assaults. Maybe Preckwinkle thinks all the white murderers are getting some type of break.

If Foxx gets in, whoa Nellie, things will get a whole lot worse in Cook County for police officers. Look at Baltimore for an example of what might happen, no what WILL happen.

With compstat the bosses are suppose to put manpower on the red dots. We know the time of day and locations of where these robberies are occurring. Yet it baffles me that the 019 District Tact Teams are not made to work these hours and locations. I heard the tact guys don't want to work those late hours because it cuts into their drinking time at the local bars telling their war stories to the females. Listen guys the only way we are going to stop the criminals coming up to 019 and robbing citizens every night is to adjust the tact teams hours and give them directed patrols where the robberies are occurring. If they don't want to work the hours there are plenty of shitty squad cars awaiting you. And to to the super tact guy bashing the beat officer, LET ME REMIND YOU IT WAS A BEAT OFFICER THAT CAUGHT THE OFFENDER IN THE HOMICIDE.

I do not know who the judge is that released him on bond, but this should be the one case where that judge should be highlighted by the FOP during election time and have that judge voted out. It's ttime to make a statement. Working class people in my community on the southside are emotionally charged over this murder, general feeling is that " it could be my son!"
Play this up FOP, the mutt Was out onbond for Agg. Battery to a p.o., and he kills the young man. Vote out the judge no matter who he/she is.
The Working class with kids are fed up and should be reminded of this come the judge's next election. FOP; Don't let it fade away and do nothing, grow some balls, stick up for the street copper and the poor working stiffs!

PS, come the next election, watch FOP support this judge!

This is the "World According to Toni Preckwinkle". When will the press wake up and start calling her what she is: a not so thinly veiled racist who has an extreme social agenda to hobble the police and eliminate the concept of accountability for "black and brown" people as she so often likes to say. She has NO BUSINESS injecting herself into criminal justice issues because she has NO EXPERIENCE in that area of expertise. What she has is a dangerous agenda that will destroy public safety and the rule of law. And her Chief of Staff, Foxx, has little more experience than her boss. Make no mistake about it, Preckwinkle doesn't want Foxx to be State's Attorney. Preckwinkle wants Preckwinkle to be State's Attormey but she doesn't have a law degree. She will be calling ALL the shots in the State's Attormey's Office if her hand picked pawn were to win. Now that's a scary thought! I hope the people of Cook County wake up and see Preckwinkle for what she really is: dangerous.

We would have been all over these robberies. We would have studied them and adjusted our hours OURSELVES, we would not have waited for the Commander to tell us too. We would be up there in covert cars, walking around, hanging out in gangways just watching and waiting. And I can guarantee you we would have caught them.

You can't sue the courts or the lawyers, they are protected. That's why the POLICE are always sued when someone is cleared after being in jail for X amount of years and then exonerated. Doesn't matter if a judge or jury found said person guilty, they cannot be touched. Just the police, real fair right? lol
