A few days ago, we opined that Rahm and Garry were thanking Tommy Skilling for the beautiful fall weather that was sure to keep the body count down under thirty. We shouldn't have underestimated the resiliency of the criminal element during the spring shooting season:
- Six people were killed, including three on Sunday, and at least 24 others were wounded by gunfire across the city over the weekend.
And a stabbing inside a Pilsen bar early Saturday left another person dead, police said.
Two later shootings pushed the number to thirty-two. We're so glad to see that effort on the part of Chicago's chronic underachievers.
And speaking of numbers, Crime is up!

- More than 300 people were shot and 37 people were killed in shootings throughout the city during May.
That's an increase in shootings and gun deaths compared to May 2014, when 237 people were wounded and 36 were slain in shootings.
And that's just shootings. Total homicides for May were 46, up from 40 last year.
Of course, McCompStat's contention will be that, "Sure, the number went up slightly, but it went up slower," or some similar such bullshit. This Slum Times link shows shootings are skyrocketing, even outpacing 2012, which McJerseyCity always seems to use as a baseline that's when he invented policing.

I saw a Chicago Reverend on Fox tonight. He said more police was not the answer to black on black crime. The answer was persuading young blacks to turn their lives around, and more social programs.
What's the record for June, for us and Baltimore.
You would think the alderpeople would be holding hearings and calling people out for the crime problems in their wards! Guess rahm won't let them or they just don't give a shit for the peons that elected them.......

The 1% learned a valuable lesson when Detroit went bankrupt - the pensions had a claim on assets too. The proposed pension law just put Chicago cops at the absolute back of the line. The new law rips that protection away and puts creditors and bondholders first and well ahead of the the retiree. In a financial crisis, every cent has to be paid to the 1% first before one cent can go to the pension fund. How this is happening without a fight is sickening.
Why does the media continuously lie? They keep writing "shootings and deaths occurred throughout the city". Nope. It happened in certain communities that are culturally deficient. People are not shooting each other and killing each other in Edison Park, Norwood Park, Ravenswood, etc. I thought black lives mattered? Where are all of the fucking protests and howling?
With all the killings, robberies, and various other violent crime. Why is race never brought into the picture?
Let's look at reality for a moment. Chicago is going through a second building boom and a second wave of wealthy and educated people moving into the city. New condos and million dollars homes selling like hot cakes. I work in 017. They are selling housing for prices at a higher prices than during the last bubble.

Like how the victims say another boutique was robbed near but she expected more police presence, now it's Lincoln park! Is the offender Amish? Just keep paying the inflated high taxes less service go to englewood police everywhere and you don't even have to pay taxes, nope the Illinois taxpayers pay you free housing link health care! I wonder how long it will take them to blame this on more Constitutional gun laws? After all, they did say the streets would run red with blood. :-) It would also be nice if the papers would report how many of these shootings take place with legally possessed guns -- my guess is that over the course of a year the number is zero or very close to it.

I'm afraid so -- the real estate crowd pumps and pumps, inflates itself with its own gases. The captive media cooperate, obediently regurgitating what they are fed about the ever-shifting "hot area! Hot area!"
Is it any coincidence that the logo of one of the biggest outfits is -- a hot-air balloon sailing off into the blue sky?
When you have no production, no creation of wealth, the only activity becomes speculation -- various financial jugglings and saltations.
Chicago radio is now jammed with wave after wave of commercials for "house-flipping seminars" held in rented hotel spaces, one after another as the various snake-oil wagons roll through town. "I show you how to get all the cash you ever need -- for FREE!" (Every spot seems to feature someone with a strange accent or speech impediment of some sort. It's disquieting.)
Really a bad sign.
Ordinary people are already moving away from that new "606 Trail" because their rents are being increased. Like it was a big privilege to have idlers looking straight into your windows, and lights glaring at night. The sight of some new bushes and gravel and stupid banners doesn't put any food in your stomach -- but any pretext for money-squeezing will do.

Our entire finance industry is rigged. Did you know that Detroit retirees had their pension cut. But did you also know that they had to pay back thousands of dollars in "excess interest" that they accrued if they invested in a fixed income fund. Similar to the fixed interest fund we have. The retirees can pay back the money in a lump sum or pay it back with 6.75 percent interest. Is this still America? I am all for free enterprise. But when banks and Wall Street rig the outcome, it isn't called capitalism or free enterprise. It is theft. This is fucking outrageous. Isn't it interesting that when the letter of the law benefits the banks and the government they happily apply it. But when the letter of the law does not benefit them they simply change the law.

People are moving into Chicago. That is undeniable. Just look around you in a lot of neighborhoods they are building big houses. Those houses are selling for $500,000 to 2 million dollars. This time it is different. This time it is people who have money are the ones buying up houses. In the last real estate bubble it was people who were speculating.

Once again, Fr. Pfleger and his band of gun grabbers plans to descend on Chuck's Gun Shop in an effort to get the shop to close down. Their latest effort involves a planned blockade of the shop on June 6th during which "demonstrators" will prevent you from entering Chuck's to exercise your 2nd Amendment rights. Needless to say, this is not the kind of activity that you, as a law-abiding firearm owner, should tolerate.
UPDATE: To show his appreciation for the support coming from the gun owner community, owner John Riggio is offering free range time as available on Saturday, plus food and soft drink, coffee, etc.
UPDATE: The Brady Campaign has applied for a permit for their protest with the Village of Riverdale in order to try to keep CCL holders from exercising their rights. The last two protests they held at Chuck's were without a permit, which had no impact on CCW. If granted their permit, which is expected, their protest becomes an event where CCW is prohibited. Expect to see orange plastic fencing demarking where their permitted activity is to take place. If you enter this area to engage the protestors, you are advised not to be carrying.

Just read the Gallows II in some old comments. I will pass on Joe as a name to use with an oldtimer.
The Pastor is stupid asking for programs and it is not just the youth being violent, they learn it from older stupid, cowards. These people need to learn to take care of themselves, to pick out their own careers and stop waiting for someone else to decide what they will do for a living and the lifestyles they will have.
