That Rahm Case Report Again
- Dozens of Chicago police officers are being disciplined for reading a police report involving Mayor Rahm Emanuel's son, police sources told NBC 5.
The police report dates back to last December when Zack Emanuel was mugged near his Northside home and his cell phone was stolen.
Up to 200 officers who read the report on internal CPD computers have been suspended over fears that information in the report has been leaked to the media.
The Chicago Police Sergeants Association said it is currently appealing the discipline action. Meanwhile, The Fraternal Order of Police said it has not been involved with any suspensions yet.
If they're handing out Summary Punishment, then there won't be suspensions...yet. But they can stack up the SPARs for all sorts of minor stuff and really start handing out days. The war against the police continues in the political realm as well. Has the media ever located the "college counselor" who was accepting calls at 11:30 PM?

Seems pretty darn spiteful. Rahm should let this go...Police should be able to read reports....(knowledge helps them solve crimes)...doubt the Crime Report was marked 'Confidential' and doubt a Judge placed a 'Gag order' on it..so, 'what's the beef'??? And hey...isn't the city short Police Officers with major murders taking place daily?? We need all the Police on the streets that is possible without suspending Officers for keeping up with the times. Shame City!!!!
Why not leave the Mayor and his son alone. They deserve their family privacy.

Any time you get a case with a shady political do everything by the book . No secrets ask relevant question document and don't change the report.
Perfect example as to why I don't do police work anymore! When an Officer can get suspended for looking at a case report for information that can be used to help look for an arrest an offender, then Officers may as well say fuck it and don't do shit! If the report is so secretive, the police dept has the ability to restrict access which was not done in this case! So fuck you Gary! Better to let the bad guys get away over getting suspended for looking at case reports!
I just reviewed all pertinent GOs, SOs, DNs and The Rules & Regulations to see if I could find a restriction on reading case reports that aren't clicked confidential.
I couldn't find one, perhaps The Supe would care to tell us where it is.
Until a regulation is written, quit making shit up.

First it was the report about the detective's son who killed his girlfriend and then himself, now this.
Kind of makes you want to go out and be proactive and maybe bring in some revenue for the Tiny Dancer, doesn't it?
This kind of vindictiveness should come as no surprise; do you really think the prick is NOT going to try and stick it up our asses with the way he and his family gets beat on here and elsewhere? I am completely baffled why we as the police can't read police reports of certain incidents? If they don't want you reading it then block access like they do for all kinds of other stuff. Now if someone gave the report to non-police persons, then they deserve what they got.
Here's an idea...
Long ago I wrote to NEVER call McNumbnuts "Mr. Superintendent.", Mr. McCarthy would do just fine. Same with Weis.
Now if any copper passes Rahm or McNumbnuts, and they would like to give him "The Finger", give him all ten fingers. Hands crossed in front of the chest, like that of a fetus, as a gesture of great police department they have destroyed fetal atmosphere they have created.
Something sooner or later, like a terrorist attack or major blackout will crack this city wide open. Have a plan to make sure your family is safe.
So we are not supposed to look at case reports where there are descriptions of wanted robbery offenders in order to know who to keep an eye out for?

If the Mayor of this 'supposed' great city takes issue with petty stuff (like sworn Officers reading criminal reports) then how in the world are the Police 'supposed' to be brave men & women and put their lives on the line to catch no good, gang-banging, murdering, fecal, criminal creeps. Give it up Rahm...be Real...think before you speak....saying Police are being fetal is not how to catch criminals and not how to win Police support and certainly not how to gain support from Tax-Paying Residents...most and many who support Police Officers....Your support from Law-Abiding citizens remains questionable cause You, Rahm, are not consistent with your support of Tax=Payers needs....namely...a safe and secure city for them, their families and for tourists near and wide. Our Mayor cannot recoup all the loss $$$ in contracts and sold property Daley did to our city. We will be fortunate if our Mayor sticks around a couple more terms.
McCarthy will be history and the new guy is waiting for the door to open after the new year. The old/new guy will being the greatness back to the department. Crime will drop, moral will be back, because this man knows how to take care of business of real policing. Gerry will be back with the NYPD, they all deserve him back.

Don't pretend to act like the Police suspended those 11 Police Officers without you knowing about it...Now, its a bigger deal than when it was laying low. You did it to your-self. Act like a Man...The Police are on the side of law-abiding folks not criminals...which side are you on???
Why are the police not allowed to have knowledge of other crimes than the ones where they made arrests being committed? This is why one group of cowards and woman abusers are so successful in their criminal activities because other cops are not made aware of their sick, brutal assaults. Every cop should know of every crime and be able to read the report to match assaults with the same criminals who commit them.

So you looked at the case report. What is the big deal? As long as you did not diseminate any info to the public and you have legit reason?
What could be a legit reason?
You work that area and you want to get more details about the suspects so that you can capture them?? (That is our business, remember?)
To warn the public.
Perhaps you recognize the subjects and can identify them and capture them?
Everyone that gets a SPAR form: Fight it. Make the department prove its case. Appeal up the chain.
Getting a SPAR form is not the end of the world. It is the beginning of a process. See it through.
Media finally is picking up this story because they read it on the crime in wriglyville & boystown blog. I've even seen the blog cited in a newspaper article. Good that the blog is getting the word out and getting some attention. Shame journalists can't do the leg work themselves.
Sure the mayor would like to see this go away. Mc Carthy had to kick the door open again by demanding officers be suspended. This guy is such a clown and should worry about things that really matter. Loozing at case report means nothing. Now if you forward info to media then shame on you.

So the Mayor AND the department has NO PROBLEM handing out our CR history but the moment it hits home they wanna slap people with spars and suspensions. Nice double standard.
Maybe now it is time to put out the kids phone records and show who he was actually talking to.
They don't have to worry about me reading that report. Hell, they're lucky I show up to work. Fetal and loving it!
