Another Expressway Shooting

So are these neighborhood disputes spilling onto the expressways or gang bangers just figure that there aren't enough police in the hoods, and certainly none on the highway?
  • Police are investigating after a man was shot along the westbound Kennedy Expressway in the city's far North Side.

The man was a passenger in a car somewhere between Kostner and the Edens junction around 4:45 a.m. Saturday when the shooting occurred, police said.

Outbound lanes were briefly shut but have since re-opened. The driver drove the victim to Northwestern Hospital.
How many this year? How many with hits and without hits? We can recall at least four or five.

Any word on the City's new position on alleged Rule 14 violations being referred to the SAOs office prior to any administrative proceedings. Seeking felony charges only after the State rejects the charges will the officer be administratively punished. I guess 30 pending is better than looking at 3 to 5 years in prison.

Chicago is rapidly becoming a Mad Max sort of place, what with motorized bandits and ruffians roaming the expressways.

There should be no problem identifying the vehicle with all the cameras located on the poles. Or maybe they don't work just like the cameras on Chicago streets don't work.

Take the number of people shot and multiply that by at least 3.
shooting incidents where no one is hit but there is property damage .
Now try to imagine how many shots fired incidents where there is nothing of value hit.
Yeah squad , this will be a big 4 paul.
something is in the air in Chicago and that something is lead.

The hi-way safety committee will soon demand the auto industry to bullet pruff automobiles in 2017 that drive in and around Chicago.

Detroit is going back to farm lands and Chicago is going back to swamp land.....

Moving soon!

Is it true that if it is on the freeway that it is not a crime in Chicago?
And Rahm does not need to count the death and mayhem?

Well if it happens on the xpressway, then CompStat doesn't need to count against the murder/shooting/ rates of chiraqastan and cook county

Technical/investigative question. We get a lot of these shootings- "I was just standing there when a car drove by and bullets came out. A gray car I think, Didn't see anyone inside". I suspect you get them too.

I believe that a good number of these cases are in fact unintended self injuries from incompetent gun handling. It occurred to me to get with our Medical Examiner to see if we can develop a protocol to allow Officers and E.R. doctors to correctly assess these alleged distance gunshot wounds to see if they are actually from close up.

We waste a lot of resources investigating these things, and it would be fun to add a false report charge to that expensive peripheral wound treatment. And it would turn some of those "I got shot" sob stories/boasts into embarrassed silence. It might even decrease the incidence of shot hands, feet, and bottoms.

Rather than replow old ground, does Chicago have something like this in place already? Some automatic comparison of the injury to the tale? If so, how does it work?

Thank you for the blog?

Easy to get away is my guess. Tail the car onto the interstate, shoot, then take whatever exit.

As long as it wasn't a p.o. shooting from a squad car the shooting is ok.

Last week the Skyway was closed because of a shooting. It's becoming a favored tactic to follow your target onto the expressway and then shoot into their car. Then speed away. The bad guys know that there are less State Police on the highway.

Can't charge someone based on on a rule/regulation violation. It's been tried several times and the judges have expressly told the state that a violation of administrative rules does not constitute official misconduct unless the act is criminal in nature of its own right. Will the city and state try to spin it anyways? You bet you shiny ass. Will they succeed? Not likely. Then you sue the shit out of both because they already knew the precedent.

Almost non-existent. They are spread out even thinner than CPD thanks to Ex. Governor Quinn. He let their numbers dwindle away to nothing!

At 6:36 am... either you're a lib trying frantically to prove that liberal ideals have nothing to do with the climb in shooting statistics.... or... you really think that people shooting themselves accidentally is very common. It does happen... not as often as you think... and we know it within 5 minutes every time. No special technology needed.

This is what happens when you make cuts to the Illinois State Police, their funds, and don't hire Troopers. Crime and these savages take notice. Also, the same now applies to the decent (past tense) parts of the city neighborhoods. Crime spreads there like a cancer knowing the police are being redeployed elsewhere, to places where people don't pay taxes. And you taxpayers get the shaft. But I don't feel sorry for any of you dumb democratic voters. I can't wait until your neighborhood changes and you can feel the pain too.

Very dangerous even on the roads cutting state police hello Leo anything to say? Last night i drove from Algonquin to Lakeshore drive on 90,290,294,55 did not see a trooper, not blaming them, guess its like when you drive the west end of 008,016,022 and never see a copper, because they put them in the non-paying areas that hate the police why bother? Policing should be distributed equally sorry we pay more taxes than the ghetto thugs, would like to see an intelligent lawyer (Are their any?), take up this situation take it to court we are "all equal under the law" correct?
