Before it ends, our country will have a new leader. And that leader will be a RADICAL, either rightist or leftist, depending on which way the whim of the all-too-easily-swayed electorate goes in November. And the United States of America that we have known and loved and respected and have been willing to die to defend will one way or another CEASE TO EXIST, no matter what the outcome. God help us.
Before it ends, the men and women who have watched over us and done their best to ensure our safety will be undermined to such an extent that they themselves will be hesitant...nay, will likely come to REFUSE...to perform the job they have been superbly trained to do, lest they be jailed next to the scum they are supposed to be guarding us against. The attacks against them will reach their zenith in the new year. And as the "Black Lives Matter" protesters (and their...um...supporters) clash ever more violently...and alas, successfully...with those few remaining of us who truly believe the police in this country are doing the same excellent job they have ALWAYS done, anarchy will become more and more a possibility...if not a damned reality. Compromise, reasoned argument, and intelligent discussion will, with unbelievable rapidity, become things of the past. The media will foster this loss...indeed, exacerbate it, and ultimately, thrive upon it.
As anyone reading this can probably tell, I'm not looking forward to 2016 with a whole lot of hope... :(
Now, I'm perfectly willing to admit, I'm more than a little potted as I type this. A bottle of really smooth Irish whiskey (Tullamore Dew...yummmm!) will do that to a man. ;) But right now, it's 5 in the morning on New Year's Day, and I'm kinda hoping that someone reading this post can convince me that 2016 isn't going to be the disaster that I'm foreseeing here.
Is it too much to want to look forward to a spring of rebirth and rebuilding (get some $$$ back into the savings account), a summer of fun (the girls who sing for the ABBA Salute band are sweet AND sexy AND talented (check 'em out next year, people!), and the Tall Ships at Navy Pier (they're coming back this year) are always totally awesome), and an autumn of hope (with a new someone in the White House who actually has a measure of common sense and is willing to use it properly)?
I've been accused more than a few times recently by people I know of being too naïve for my own good. I'd appreciate it if someone out there could help me dispel that notion... ;)
And finally, SCC (and SCC Retired)...thank you so much for this blog, and for your tireless expression of the truth. You are a beacon of sanity and reason on the ocean of idiocy that the Internet too often is. Keep on keeping on, sir, and don't let the bastards get you down. I won't give up if you don't. ;)

(a) A person commits the offense of obstructing identification when he or she intentionally or knowingly furnishes a false or fictitious name, residence address, or date of birth to a peace officer who has:
(1) lawfully arrested the person;
(2) lawfully detained the person; or
(3) requested the information from a person that the
peace officer has good cause to believe is a witness to a criminal offense.
(b) Sentence. Obstructing identification is a Class A misdemeanor.
SCC please look up the consent decree that LAPD was forced into. Look into the officer tracking data base Training Evaluation and Management System (“TEAMS”). This data base tracks everything an officer does through-out their entire career. Maybe put the word out so officers know what coming.
The use of force and street stop nonsense is gonna get people hurt or put in a jam, it is pathetic the way city "leaders" caved to the worst element of our city and the freak show some call the news media. Don't get hit by this run away train let the leadership reap what they sew when they can no longer lie about how out of country this nanny state really is.
After watching the news today, the next time during my tour when being attacked by a person wearing a ski mask using deadly force, I must ask myself if this attacker is a person of color? First of all, read the general order. Do it for yourself so you don't get into trouble.
If a person refuses to give you an id then that is not against the law. According to the order, you write the name is John Doe or Jane Doe. For all investigatory stops you have to give the stopped subject the receipt with your name, star number and the reason for the stop. If they give you a false name then you can arrest that person; for obstruction of identification.
I was working hard today and due to new use of force order, me and my partner are going to play hypnosis spiral videos during more intense south side domestics so we don't use up our force options. Lots of good ones on YouTube, do check them out.
OT- so e-learning has a batman superman logo in the upper right corner for the ISR training. Is that a jerkoff move or the city marketing for Hollywood. And how am I responsible for training that I can't hear the shitty speakers in these computers.

So word came down from the ivory tower that everyone was to be denied time due for New Year's Eve in 011. (Not sure if it was a city-wide thing) So of course there were a lot of pissed off people, but they understood that it is what it is. Denials for partial time were made for all of 3rd watch as well. EXCEPT one guy that the Lt said could have secret partial time. HR, who works the desk. 7 on the end? Really? Must have been nice. Must be his reward for doing absolutely nothing on the desk.

So far the murder tally for New Year's Day. First homicide of the year goes to 002. Then shortly after a homicide in 009. And coming in third this evening is 007 with one killed on 61st and Aberdeen. Well, 4 minutes to go until the 1st day of 2016 is over and we already have three murders. Looks promising right? Well I would say the same, but if you look at the numbers from last year there were 6 murders in the first 2 days of the year last year then it drastically fell off... So, let's see if they can keep it going. Congrats to all who had 002 in the ghoul pool.

Don't know if this is true or not, but if Rahm and everyone else who's opinions City Hall (but not us) seem to care about, feel our whole department is incapable of providing excellent police services (which we do), then it wouldn't make sense from City Hall's perspective that a new superintendent would come from our department, would it? Rahm brought in GMac so he would have total control; he's still got almost 3 years to go. Why would he make an insider the Supt.? Look for an outsider, and look for a female to be the next Supt.
