Another Homicide Article

The stats are variations of what we've discussed here, but no one seems to agree on the answers.

You can read it here - we aren't going to quote from it.

The article gives no answers, but we've got one. It's the same one we've been preaching here for ten years.

The bundles of protoplasm with no moral compass, no family structure, live-in-the-moment narcissists, egged on by a "no consequences" culture are feeling no pressure from the law, the courts, or the communities.

Solve that and you might start to solve the problems.

I blame the ACLU and meritoriuos bosses with no balls. I hope the hard chargers in Saturation Team North take notice. Remember children you can't get made meritorious if your in the federal penitentiary. The meritorious Lieutenant told me he had my back is not an affirmative defense.

"The rise in violence this year has been concentrated mostly through neighborhoods on Chicago's South Side and West Side that for decades have been stricken by poverty and a lack of investment from the city..."

Lack of investment from the city??? I may be wrong...but I would say that the city has invested most of it's 'hard earned' dollars into the west and south sides. What a joke. Might as well have Crocodile Dundee write these fucking articles...

For some reason the hey jackass web site lists under its victim/assailant pie chart that police account for 8% of this years homicides. If there are 102 homicides and the police were only able to do the lords one single time so far this year, that number should be below 1%. I know it's a seperatete web site rom your own SCC, just wanted to make the readership aware of that discrepancy. They probably just didn't update it yet. God bless the Police.

"Criminologists, though, say there's no evidence to suggest criminals are exploiting officers' reluctance to do their jobs."
There is so much wrong with that one sentence."...reluctance to do their jobs." What about making it impossible to do their jobs?
"..there's no evidence to suggest criminals are exploiting.." Since criminals would never, ever do that. Yet they are criminals, and yes, they are taking full advantage as they shove a cell phone camera in any officer's face if that officer is foolish enough to question their suspicious behavior. The carnage these last two months indicate these 'criminologists' don't know jack but they are the experts and thus this unacceptable homicide rate is being caused by global warming. Crazy times and crazy talk.

By the Tribs own account we now know that MILLIONS have been poured into the south and west sides and yet the shooting continue. Thousands of Policemen with the resultant astronomical overtime budget have been sent there to lower the violence. Yet the violence continues. What is the common denominator, the one thing that causes this violence to continue? The answer is of course the culture. If you go to neighborhoods like Edgebrook,Sauganash,Lincoln Park,Norwood Park,Jefferson Park,Forest Glen,Mt. Greenwood (I know,I know), Garfield Ridge,Avondale,Irving Park just to name a few, you don't see people standing around on corners pitching dope or settling their disputes with their neighbors by the use of violence particularly by the use of guns. You don't see people running around with guns randomly shhoting those guns. The culture of the people that live their do not allow it,condone it or blame other people for it. But you do see that when you go into neighborhoods like Austin, Englewood,South Chicago,K Town just to name a few, that is exactly what you do see. Now some of the decent black folks are going to read my post and call me a racist or try to ridicule me by saying that white people commit crimes as well as black people. We know that. But there is a cancer in the black community and until THEY address it and stop blaming society, wealth, the Policeman or anyone else and accept responsibility, NOTHING is ever going to change. And before you say " why blame me, it's not my kid doing all the shooting", I say YES IT IS.

Here is a question for the officers of the CPD.

How can you trust your Department if the will not tell you or the public the truth regarding what crimes are being reported within you city?

This is the same as the promotional testing, the same as the stripping of special units to man the streets but the numbers are still growing.

What someone here needs is to grow some BALLS and tell the MAYOR and Department we don't believe them anymore.

The city is doomed.

He stated that officers should not fear a mistake? Who is he kidding? Make a mistake with the ISR and face discipline. Chief Johnson sat next to him and he looked very uncomfortable, very stiff. Maybe he was forced to participate? Officers are blamed for everything in the media and no one to offer a defense? Slam officers at the Superbowl and the Oscars. OT, but yesterday on 3rd watch in 011, the LT came into roll call and told everyone that they aren't doing enough ISRs, and that "a mover and two parkers is not enough activity." He failed to tell everyone what the required amount of activity is though. 011 still remains a busy district with a ton of calls everyday, and even when you're not trying, you always end up running into some situation that requires "activity". Not good enough though! It's funny coming from a guy that literally sits in his office watching TV the WHOLE tour. He never knows what's happening on the street because he can't be expected to listen to the radio AND the TV at the same time. He never comes out to the scene when there's a major incident going on. This is the new "leadership" of the CPD. Pitiful.

Take the number of homicides and deduct the number of gang members killed. This is gang violence, and if one violent criminal kills another one, I don't care. And I mean that, I really and truly do not care.

If suicides are being counted, and they probably are, deduct them as well. Too bad someone couldn't help them in time, but these aren't real homicides in my book.

We can also deduct all self-defense homicides. This isn't a crime, and so should not be counted.

That leaves whatever is left over. If the number is still too high for the moonbat politicos, consider allowing the mere citizens to arm themselves as they see fit.

Have punishing deterrence. But supplement it with investments in the lives of people there. It may take time. But a prosperous South can only be good for Chicago as a whole.

Maybe he should have sent the video to the people in K-9, marine and mounted who owe the bosses something. Maybe they will do some ISRs. Maybe for the unclouted you don't want them to think too much about such matters. Might just make them even more fetal. I

OT Indiana joins the Chicago crap show club, Indiana next to be "fetal" Like the part where it says "might show" Keep pandering to the anti-poloce scumbags that is change we cannot believe in!

Indiana Senate approves police video bill
Tribune news servicesContact Reporter

Indiana law enforcement would be forced to publicly release body-camera video if the recordings might show officers using excessive force or violating someone's civil rights under a measure approved by the state Senate.

The measure by Republican Hartford City Rep. Kevin Mahan was approved on a 49-1 vote Tuesday.

It now goes back to the House, which earlier approved a different version of the bill, to sign off on the Senate's changes.

Under the measure, law enforcement agencies seeking to withhold video would have to prove it might harm someone or influence a trial. Police would also not be able to withhold video if a victim alleges excessive use of force or civil rights violations.

I'm nearing my 20th year, I'm sticking around, due to kids tuition. As everyone can attest to, every year changes in policy. Police are held more and more responsible for the actions of the citizens. Police take action, ASA half asses the Case and Judges water dowm the judgements. Sheriff releases just about half the inmates to E.M. Governor does not follow truth in sentencing. Most Alderman have criminal backgrounds, along with the Reverends. The cats got the togue on Catholic Church when it comes to father Flaker. The Media is Tainted. The Mayor (s) have gangstered the Pension Funds. The Feds are afraid to investigate the Political Machine in Chicago. Everyone is out of Order. Its going to take a Revival and 20 years to see Positive Change. We as a City are so off track, its sickening.

Here is my take on what is going on, from an old retired guy: Right now there is a lot of upheaval and uncertainty surrounding the department and everything that you do. Although this has been building for over a year, you are just starting down this path. Escalante will not get the job but he is trying. There is an election coming up for a new states attorney, a new superintendent around the corner, one hell of a hot Summer coming if you believe the weather predictions, a current federal investigation of a police shooting and a federal investigation of practices within the department relating to use of force. Then you add in these lengthy and BS ISRs with the uncertainly of what could happen to you if you make a mistake, even one of good faith. If I were on the streets right now, I would be very cautious, would do only what is required of me, not arrest anyone unless you have no choice and when complaints are signed, answer my calls, call for a supervisor frequently and in effect, slow down until this thing shakes out. Those hot shot tact guys get into problems in the best of times so don't follow them. Aggressive, pro-active policing is not a good idea right now . I feel for those still on the streets. I have rarely seen a gold star out for the throops, most of them would stick it in your ass if they thought it would help them or protect them.

Yes, I was born and raised in Englewood but moved with my family in 1970 when the neighborhood was changing from white to black. The businesses were robbed and burglarized, cars were stolen, garages broken into, my great aunt knocked down and robbed on ther way to church ( visitation), my grandfather rocked while sitting on our back porch. It became frightening and intolerable so we moved, one of the last white families off of our block. Most of the stores closed and moved. Within 10 years most of the buildings were in such bad shape they wer abandoned or torn down. None of this was good for race relations.

I watched the video that DeEscalante sent via email. He actually included the video shown to recruits in the academy during their star ceremony. Unbelievable! Has he completely lost touch with officers on the street? That video means nothing to officers that fear the command staff and retribution from ACLU. Can you blame officers for the bunker mentality? That video re-affirmed that the command staff is controlled by ACLU and the mayor.

He's doing what a good lap dog does. Exactly what the mayor tells him to.

For decades in law enforcement the "reasonable articulable suspicion" for a street stop was called a cop's 6th sense. With experience, every cop knew who to stop and why. Sometimes you couldn't really put the feeling down on paper right away, but it got easier once you got the dope, the gun, the warrant arrest or the stolen car. Police work survived throughout the country on that 6th sense because most cops, nearly all really, know that to follow the precise letter of any law is impossible. Want proof? Look now how the streets are running red with blood. Look at Baltimore after the rioting. Today, because of the anti-police atmosphere our there, cops are putting their 6th sense back in the closet. That doesn't bode well for anyone. But it is going to remain a reality.

"We know the difference between a mistake and misconduct". Who is "we" exactly? Not the Mayor, not the city council, cowed by Black Lives Matter protestors. Not the left wing, anti-police news media, i.e. "Fallen Star". Not the ACLU, scrutinizing every stop sheet for a possible complaint. Never mind the crime rate in an area or what demographic is actually committing the murders. Not IPRA, whose mandate is to find as many cops as possible guilty of something, anything, to increase the stats of sustained complaints. It is a certainty, that the one year anniversary of the new IPRA didrector, will show a significant increase in sustained complaints. Who wants to step up and be the next sustained case? Is the Supt. saying he is going to call IPRA and intervene on an officers behalf? Is that legal? When IPRA, or additionally, the Justice Dept.,investigates you, the bosses will not help you. Do the right thing for yourself and your partner. Remember, quotas for arrests and tickets are illegal.

Was that a real video or a comedy skit lead in? Johnny your exempt club is a total failure, not blaming you as your obviously not the police and a complete puppet to the mayor and his crew but come on John. You would be the first on media hotlines marching a copper off to the gulags if they defend themselves but the media and mayor spin it wrong! Stay Fetal!

According to the article...

"The level of violence is unacceptable and CPD continues to aggressively target those responsible, especially in neighborhoods where gang activity is most active."

And we will continue to get the same results. Idiots.

A few years ago; while working in 002, we took a couple of prisoners to 21's lockup while power was out at 51st and Wentworth. We walked pass the W.C. Office to See a captain, lieutenant and two sgts (All male) watching Days of Our Lives. What a surprise. What an inspiration.

Looking back, we offered to trade you Supt McCarthy for Dart and there were no takers...
Now you have Desclante and the offer is retracted.
Sorry guys you had your chance.

But you still have my utmost respect, CPD.

Better days are coming when the media gets their head out of their ass!

May God keep you safe and give you the ability to weather this black lives matter bullshit storm!
If they don't care, shoot the shit out of each other what's the real answer. Fetal? Nah!

Really? A few years ago you did that? That's funny since 021 has been closed for 6 years and the lockup in 021 has been closed for at least 10 years. If you're going to make up stories hair gel, at least do a little history homework first.

Doing a great job my brothers and sisters in blue. Bring them to their knees! Make them first apologize to all of us! Then make them beg!

OT - same as in the 11th district LT. Out LT's on 3rd watch in 024 sit together and watch TV. They too never go out on the street unless the XO is in the building. There is no leadership in this department and you can thank RAHM for that. The Mayor is responsible for all the loose cannons out there on the street that go unsupervised. RAHM removed Captains and Desk Sergeants. On most evenings there is a Sgt in command

Lieutenants have traditionally only gone out as needed in the field. You must be a new guy.

I read Second City Cop everyday while browsing the net. I have great respect for the 'guys in blue' who do so much to protect us from criminals. I applaud you for this perfect wording of the 13% who commit the majority of crime in America. I hope you soon realize that many of us support your attempts to protect us from these thugs and thugettes from the projects...the gimme dat-ers who have made no positive contributions to society.

May God bless you guys and I hope that Chicagoans will one day stand against the corrupt Democrat party criminals and elect people who are less corrupt and who support your efforts.
