Guess Who's Leaving Chicago?

  • Millionaires are leaving Chicago more than any other city in the United States on a net basis, according to a new report.

About 3,000 individuals with net assets of $1 million or more, not including their primary residence, moved from the city last year, with many citing rising racial tensions and worries about crime as factors in the decision, according to research firm New World Wealth. That represented about 2 percent of the city's high net worth individuals.
And where did Chicago fall in the world wide rankings of millionaires leaving? Third:
  • Paris saw the largest exodus. The French city lost 7,000, or 6 percent, of its millionaires, followed by Rome, which lost 5,000, or 7 percent. Chicago was next, followed by Athens.
Paris, Rome and Athens - three basket cases of unassimilated muslim populations, transient economic refugees and decades of socialist government that have pretty much doomed Europe to a new Dark Ages in the coming decade...and Chicago right in the midst of them.

So what are Illinois politicians being told? Raise taxes again!
  • A respected urban planning group is calling for a significant hike in the state’s gasoline tax to pay for a much needed transportation program, reports WBBM [...].

You won’t get much argument about the Metropolitan Planning Council’s assertion that Illinois’ roads, bridges and rail lines have fallen into bad shape and MPC senior fellow Jim Reilly, a veteran of state government, told the City Club of Chicago the state needs $43 billion over the next 10 years to make things right.

“If you add thirty cents to the gas tax, that may be a lot but keep in mind it hasn’t been increased since ’91, if you add thirty cents to the gas tax and increase vehicle registration fees across the board, you get the total that we need,” he says.

Reilly admits passing that kind of tax hike is a tall order but he says people have to get over their penchant for wanting everything and not wanting to pay anything for it.
How about people in Springfield get over their penchant for spending money they don't have, paying down the debt they do have, and stop chasing people who actually pay taxes out of Illinois. It's a fucking death spiral....and it's getting tighter.

Hit the middle to low income individuals/families with losing more money out of their pocket for the privilege to drive in Illinois.

This isn't about fixing infra-structure, what happened to all the tax monies taken by Quinn's 5% tax? This is about having money to pay the contractors who donate to political campaigns, it's the payback. If notice Wisconsin has construction on its roads, etc and finishes the projects in no time at all. I guess the weather is better up there.

How are they all doing it? Our house has been on the market for a year and we can't find a sucker - I mean, buyer, to buy it.

Great Caesar's Ghost, don't tell me they all left?

Hmmmm....Maybe I'll donate my house to Winnetka like the Vanderbilts did with their house in Newport.

That's one way to walk away and still get a good write-off. Let some Preservation Society keep it up. I wonder how much admission they would charge for the Howell House?

When the can is no longer "kickable," IL's professional criminal class (the politicians) will try to force huge tax increases onto taxpayers' backs.

The big one will be property taxes. I already pay 3.6% of market value, year in and year out, on a modest house. By massively raising taxes, home prices will be driven lower.

Wait for it. The death-spiral of rising taxes & declining market values is either already in place or about to begin. Then the entire state of Illinois will become One Big Detroit.

This is what happens when the parasites fed by taxes outnumber those who pay them.

I heard this and I almost barfed. Not paying ANYTHING for it? I pay for it when I earn my money, when I spend my money, and when I get bills for things that couldn't be collected during the earning or spending process. I pay for it every which way, and I'm sick of it. Stop building new parks, and stadiums, and highways that no one ever asked for. Stop giving it away to people who are too lazy to work for it themselves, while taking it away from people who have already earned it. And stop telling me that I need to "get over my penchant for wanting", when all you've ever done as an elected politician is TAKEN what other people have EARNED and lined your's and your cronies' pockets with it. I'm over my "penchant for wanting everything", and I have a new penchant, for wanting what's MINE.

She left for New York to be U.S. Senator and she took with the millions she acquired from her public service to another high tax state. She got out because she had insight to the higher taxation which she foresaw her party of the middle class doing.

Clinton ultimately found the ultimate tax loophole, a non-profit foundation in which she can control lots of tax free money. The Clinton Foundation funded by the whose who are in the uber 1% percent. She has criticized the rich for not paying their fair share of taxes so that makes her a backwards Arkansas redneck hypocrite.

Believe it or not, there's a lot more to Illinois than the northeast corner. Places where it's possible to leave the keys in the car and the house unlocked. And by some miracle, people actually live "out there."

Pricey, congested and lots of fbi agent neighbors.
Whatever you choose to do, make sure you're over the line and outside of Cook county.

They want to raise gasoline taxes because they are trying to force us to start using bicycles. Look at the miles and miles of bike lanes they have created that nobody but goofy Bernie Sanders types and hipsters use. If we ain't driving it's easier to control us. Take our weapons away, and it's off to the camps for extermination. Oh, they have great plans for us. I'm gonna take my tinfoil hat off now.

there is a section of the city I remember they sprayed the bicycle lane paint on the ground cause the road was tore up. at 1 million dollars a mile, you gotta make sure you are getting yours.

Its been going on for a while. Look at millionaire presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

4/05/2016 03:47:00 PM
---------

she is not a southerner, I went to Arkansas and met a few people there, they said she was a total piece of shit who just used William Clinton as a just starter for her career. she wont even win Arkansas in the election

Theyv raise the gas tax 30 cents a gallon and you will see traffic on the roads to Wisconsin and Indiana at a standstill. People will be flocking to those states to buy their gas. I have been doing that for years now. I gassed up yesterday for 1.99 a gallon in Wisconsin. Then went shopping at Woodmans where there is no tax on food and the selection of product is much better.

4/05/2016 07:19:00 AM

Drive to Wisconsin to save .25 a gallon and shop at Woodman's for the great selection not available in Chicago? Why didn't I think of that!

Than there is Wyoming. Balanced budget, fully funded State Pension Plan, $1.75 cent a gallon gasoline, roads in great shape, No state income tax. 1.8 billion invested in our rainy day account. Constitutional carry, no gang violence. We have retired Policemen that have come to Wyoming who have taken up a positions as a town constable in one of our small communities. I have talked with a number of them and they tell me that compared with what they had to put up with where they came from it is like "The Andy Griffith Show".

There is nothing, nothing in Wyoming. You have to drive to fucking Colorado to go to a shopping mall.

I encourage the pay toilets. I for one will take up public urination and defecation as a hobby. When I am near any government building or politician's house I will consider flinging my shit like an animal in their general direction. If this happens, forget about the Boston Tea Party, there will be the Chicago Shit Party. (Separate from the already existing democratic party)

Some Illinois suburbanites are amazingly stupid. Chicago's current situation is totally grim and will have a devastating impact on the entire state of Illinois. It's Chicago's economy that provides the most revenue for the state and no other municipalities come close, so it just might behoove you to consider leaving Illinois, because the entire state is sinking idiots............

4/05/2016 06:04:00 AM

HEY- we AIN'T stupid. We just can't vote out the IDIOTS you keep voting in. You have to take the first step- vote the incumbents OUT.

Or, don't you even vote?

Let the suburbanites vote for who runs Chicago and the problem will get solved.

I say bullshit on this article. My wife just closed on a one million dollar condo for a couple that wants to move in to Chicago from Winnetka. They are empty nesters and love the amenities of living in a huge city with so many options. Everything is within walking distance and Chicago has world class restaurants close to a driving distance. Look at all of the expensive housing going up from 500K condos to 3 million dollar houses.

Hey Genius -
One Condo sale does NOT make the whole market. Better look at all those who are trying to sell condos that aren't getting buyers. (or selling condos at a deep loss)

There was just a thread here on SCC about subsidized housing and how some of the "Million dollar condos" are being used for Section 8 housing - where the owner gets $3,000 a month from CHA and the "tenant" pays their fair share of $200 a month.(a study in the Sun Times)

Gimme a break! I would NOT want to be holding any Million dollar condo in Chicago. (unless I could get that CHA Section 8 money)

Well Lovey and I won't be buying in Chicago.

Stick me once with a bad price on my house, you aren't going to stick a Howell with an overpriced condo. Those monthly assessments for ALL those downtown condos are outrageous.

Plus, there are "some amenities" we would rather do without. I don't want to have to walk through protesters or CTU strikes or be stuck on Lake Shore Drive while some hooligans stand in the middle of the street.

If I want that, we can vacation to some third-world country and stay at the dictator's palace. At least in those countries, they know how to disperse a crowd real fast.

Naperville is pretentious. I'm heading out to either Morris, Manteno or Minooka, if I decide to stay in state. Taxes are much lower in Kankakee and Grundy County.

Road trip coming up, may change mind.

Lee County is nice...

There IS a whole other Illinois once you get @
100 miles from Shitcago.

Know one guy who retired about 10 years ago.
He purchased pieces and parcels in Arkansas
over the years and cleared/improved it and built
a sturdy little brick cottage.

He's a winner...
He has a spring-fed creek and a little lake
on his land and the water is virtually drinkable
at the source.

Happy for the guy.
If only we all could leave the bastardry,
assholery and rampant fuckery of this city behind and find a place where
we can sit out and have a coffee with family
and upright, like-minded neighbors.

No worries about a little goblin like Fran Spielman
trying to rile the citizenry up about, "Those Cops are Making
Too Much Money!" and other Rahm Emanuel sourced hit pieces.

To each, his own...
After 20 to 40 years on this job,
sometimes a place like Wyoming
is just what the doctor ordered to
help purge the mental and emotional
crapware that ends up overwritten on
a Chicago Copper's "hard drive."

Which is why so many opt to flee
urban living.

Funny...
Sparkle-Farts wants to withhold federal
funding from communities that don't have
the statistically significant ration of a
"catered-to constituency."

Spreading The Misery
=
Equality?

Man... The wheels are always turning
for these Chicago Progressives.

Pension? In 10 years it wont be worth the paper its printed on. stay around and get "culturally enriched"? get out while the getting is good and get a pension in a place that will still pay it when you're ready to retire.
