Avoid Getting Shot

Here's what we see, more and more:

"Resist the Police."

As any first year law student will tell you, and as most first year legislators should know, there is (almost) no right to resist the police (Indiana tried to write something that was roundly mocked). It's written into the law that way in most states and federal statutes so that people don't get killed unnecessarily.

Even an arrest that you know to be unlawful, there is no right to resist. The recourse to the violation is the Civil Courts, which have been more than generous to those supposedly wronged by the police, especially here in Cook County.

Author Jack Dunphy, formerly of the LAPD, corresponds with us on occasion and he wrote this piece just a day or so ago titled "How to Avoid Getting Shot by the Police."

Lesson 1 - don't resist:
  • Break out your pencils, gentle readers, it’s time for a pop quiz. What do Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Freddie Gray, Walter Scott, Laquan McDonald, and Paul O’Neal have in common? Yes, they are all black men who died under controversial circumstances at the hands of the police, but you get only partial credit if your answer was limited to those facts. To get full credit, you must have included the point that they all would be alive today had they merely followed the lawful directions of the police officers who were trying to arrest or detain them.
Go read it all. He is a voice of reason in a world gone stupid.

Well now, who will the ghetto rats listen to, the lawful orders of the police to stop, desist, drop the gun, put your hands up, don't resist or the message the protesters with the sign saying resist the police? My guess the sign of the protesters. Why? Because they are not taught otherwise, for if they were they would be alive. Wrong? Not at all. What do you tell your kids when they were growing up? Resist the police? Or do what the police say and be respectful. The lack of a moral compass can and does result in death. But like the author says a lot of these people recently killed by police would be alive today if they had in the beginning simply listened to the orders of the police.

The false narrative plays on and on.

The simple, demonstrable truth remains --

Shootings by police are statistically insignificant.

Chicago - Final 2015 Totals
Shot & Killed: 444
Shot & Wounded: 2552
Total Shot: 2996

Chicago - Police-Involved Shootings in 2015
Shot & Killed: 9
Shot & Wounded: 16

A few years ago I used to go to work and leave roll call and look for criminals. now I go to work and log in to see what cases I can suspend or clear with a few calls. Next I look at whatever CHA or CTA dates I can work for OT.

My main goal now is to make as much as I can without stopping or arresting anyone.
All thanks to the ACLU, fr flaker, blm, doj, ccsao, mayor and media.

This has made it easier for me as I no longer do any pro active policing.

You demanded a softer and gentler police department, You got it. Now enjoy it.

Actually in most states there's still a common law right to resist an unlawful arrest. In IN what happened is that the IN Supreme Court ruled that a statute had gotten rid of the right so much that a homeowner didn't have the right to resist a crooked cop breaking into their house. In response, the IN legislature passed a new statue authorizing the use of force to resist an unlawful arrest.

Shows you how dumb some people are. When an armed person tells you to comply it's not a good idea to resist. They have a gun and are trained. Deal with it in court not on the streets. Sort of seems like common sense.

I figured it out ! The best way to end all this shooting stuff is to hire a storefront Revrun in each district to ride along in a designated de-escalation car. When arriving on scene ONLY the Revrun gets out and calms the deranged individual into giving up his weapon.

Then you have the big U.S. attorney investigation into Chicago police:

http://chicago.suntimes.com/politics/u-s-attorney-a-few-bad-cops-make-it-harder-for-good-officers/

excerpt parenthesis truth:

“When officers break the law, it hurts us all. It hurts the immediate victims, it hurts the public, who lose faith and confidence in law enforcement, and it hurts all of the good officers who suffer from that loss of public faith and confidence. Those good officers can no longer do their jobs effectively,” Fardon said.

The national policing crisis began with the August 2014 shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and peaked with the release of the video in November 2015 that showed the Laquan McDonald shooting, Fardon said.

“And nowhere is that more true, with more at stake, than right here in Chicago,” he said. “Eric Garner dying from a chokehold in Staten Island; Tamir Rice, the 12-year-old shot and killed in Ohio;(Hmm was the call not man with a gun and this kid had a pellet gun resembling a pistol pointed at police?) Freddie Gray dying in the back of a police van in Baltimore;(didn't Freddie have recent spinal surgery and that was a cause of death the police were acquitted in a court of law) Laquan McDonald shot 16 times, mostly on the ground;(Hmm again you did not specify high on pcp with a sharp knife in his hand refused to drop it,and used that same knife to try to attack police officers and stabbed squad tire and smashed windshield, and was breaking into vehicles) and, more recently, Paul O’Neal shot in the back here in Chicago.(Ok paul was a felon, chased by police shots rang out not sure on this 1 but you forgot fleeing and injuring officers with a 4,000# missile he was driving) There are dozens and dozens more examples.”

Did you watch trump at the debate last night? He stressed "law and Order and federal law enforcement should realize if all these obeyed the law they would be alive today simple as that!

Sure looks like this audit is far reaching do the job but follow absolutely every order and if the boss with the shiny gold star says anything tell him/her "sorry boss if that is a direct order tell me and put it in writing as you pull up general orders to be sure your in compliance!

Very simple solution - Avoid the Ghetto and its problems.

U.S. Attorney Zachary Fardon speaks at a City Club of Chicago 9/25/16:
” he said. “Eric Garner dying from a chokehold in Staten Island; Tamir Rice, the 12-year-old shot and killed in Ohio; Freddie Gray dying in the back of a police van in Baltimore; Laquan McDonald shot 16 times, mostly on the ground; and, more recently, Paul O’Neal shot in the back here in Chicago. There are dozens and dozens more examples.”
GET THIS:
“When officers break the law, it hurts us all. It hurts the immediate victims, it hurts the public, who lose faith and confidence in law enforcement... “When bad cops do bad things and theres’s no accountability..."
(SOUNDS LIKE HE'S ADDRESSING OPERATION PUSH)
As for the DOJ investigation of CPD pattern and practice:
"We are, I believe, moving at record pace. . . . But our urgency has to be balanced with efficacy. We’ve got one shot at this thing, and so we have to get it right,” he continued. “Assuming we find problems,(OH,AND THEY'RE LOOKING & DOCUMENTING TOO) our goal is not quick fixes; it is long-term, sustainable change..."
(This from the same DOJ that was quick to call CrookedClinton extremely careless)

Use your common sense, don't put yourself in a Resisting position...drive away and let the ghetto call on Fr. PHlaker of PHardon.

Are you registered to vote?

Is Deano and FOP doing anything about that?

What would happen if FOP reps went to Roll Calls with registration materials to make sure every cop was registered?

Deano would get an angry call from Rahm.

Can you imagine the spawn these people are producing after generations of gimme-all-don't-have-to-work-I-gots-my-rights-votes-a-living-Democommunism.

I've been retired for a while but I remember the days when e had Police Officers who visited schools to talk to kids about all kids of safety subject. These Officer Friendly's gave away coloring books and were always welcome wherever they went. Richie Shortshanks and Rahm have depleted this department and as far as I know Officer Friendly is nothing but a gray haired memory.

Can you imagine the reception that Officer Friendly would get now in most schools.

Kids would ask, "How many people have you shot?"

Parents might even objet ha their children were even exposed to a police officer.

Stay Safe. The Damage has been done and it will take a generation or more to undo it if it can be done at all.

When will law enforcement as a whole learn? We hold the power. They do not. There are over 750,000 sworn officers in this country. Bingo!!!! We have a winner!
Let us call it The Purge. I've been saying this for months. All officers stay home for one week, while the "community" enjoys themselves. I like the idea.
My neighborhood, and yours, will be safe, since we are armed to the teeth.
The liberal upper class types will mess their pants and screaming, "Why don't the police protect us?"
Sorry, I can't hear you over the concussive "booms" of the OO buckshot detonating out of my Ithaca 37 Police Special.
Be still my heart.....

We DO NOT hold the power. Richie Daley and Rahm learned a long time ago that you do not need to give the rank and file of any union what they want if you can buy off the leadership with nice retirement/second pension jobs and scholarships for their kids.

Look at the Chicago Teachers Union. I may not like Karin Lewis but that close brush with death via cancer may have convinced her that she didn't have time to collect any under the table benefits. Therefore she makes the teachers vocal and they will vote every election and now will strike.

In a way we are striking, we just call it being FETAL.

And let's remember that you, as a private citizen, can almost never have all the facts to know that such an arrest (or detainment, etc) is unlawful. For all you know the police might be investigating the bank robbery that just happened two blocks away and you happen to look just like the robber.
