Gunfire at Wrigley
Not the image the city wants when the Cubs are looking at post-season play:
- Video sent to CWB Chicago anonymously appears to show a street brawl and shooting attempt unfolding on the streets of Wrigleyville early Sunday. We reported exclusively on the incident hours later.
The whole thing played out around 3 AM, at 1143 West Addison — less than a block from Wrigley Field.
In the video, a man dressed in a white tee shirt and long red shorts reaches into his waistband and pulls out what appears to be a small gun at the 16-second mark. He places an object behind his back, and he then points the apparent handgun at a group of men and women who are brawling nearby.
The man in red shorts then charges at another man, tackles him, and holds him to the ground while others beat and kick the apparent victim.
Throughout the battery, two people near the camera are heard yelling "black lives matter" commentary as well as "Stop kicking! No! No! No! Stop!"

After about 12:00am, Clark St turns totally ghetto. Bangers from all over converge, both black and Hispanic. It goes on until about 4:30-5:00am some nights.

It was probably some honor roll students blowing off some steam before starting school at Cell Block L aka Lake View High School. That school was out of control last year as the principal let the inmates run the asylum. No punishments or repercussions for any actions, just a talking to because two new deans were implementing the restorative justice concept. The principal got scared and left abruptly and so did 15-20 teachers and an asst. principal.

Police officers want to do their job. The ACLU, the DOJ and the media's narrative prohibit and discourage the police from keeping your neighborhood safe. Upon returning to my car, I was pleased to see the other unsavory types.

To the poster boasting about Wrigleyville: I agree it's an expensive sought after area. With that said, I encourage you to walk or drive down Clark Street at night. It is the gauntlet of gauntlets rivaling that of State and Hubbard. I have no financial interest in either area but I can guarantee that although expensive, both are overrun by scum. If that's an exaggeration then you are wearing blinders.

Used to just bus it a lot many years ago, many small interesting bookstores which were driven out of business by the big chains who then themselves died. Nothing of interest to an older person down there anymore. "Shake Rattle And Read" on Broadway is gone, the Jazz Record Mart, Bob & Rhonda's Bookworks, Aspidistra...
So many areas have gone the same way. Just overcrowded, know-nothing, loud and conspicuous consumption with criminals darting in and out around the edges.
