- Don’t expect to see numerous street closings in Lakeview or a phalanx of cops outside Wrigley Field for Game 1 of the Cubs’ National League divisional playoff game Friday night against the San Francisco Giants.
Instead, look for Addison and Clark streets to have regular parking restrictions and possibly be blocked off next to the ballpark for the safety of the sellout crowd.
Also look for a marginal boost in the presence of uniformed police officers.
The Chicago Police Department plans to increase the number of uniformed cops outside Wrigley Field from the typical complement of 40 officers to about 70 on Friday, a police source said.
Officers on so-called “saturation teams” will be moved from other parts of the city to the neighborhood surrounding the ballpark. As usual, you’ll see officers on horseback. And more plainclothes cops will be assigned to look for people selling counterfeit tickets and merchandise.
So they won't be saturating the west and south side killing fields. Also, the Department recently stripped PPO's from the Districts and created an open ended "Detail Unit" that they can deploy citywide, switching hours and days off according to the progress of the post season.
In the meantime, be careful this weekend as the band-aid teams are redeployed to watch millionaires and their fans attempt to break the world's longest losing streak.

If the Cubs organisation is so worried about counterfeit merch they should pay for private security to look in to that. You guys don't have time to screw with that. In today's anti police climate I can't see any officer chasing some one down and risking getting thrown under the bus protecting the profit of the Cub's merchandising.
This superintendant letter clearly states that no force is to be used, and to create a zone of safety around the offender....this means even with property damage, is to await till he tires himself out, gives up, or hurts "enough" people, to take action.
Therefore, also, anything considered a "risk" (i.e. Risk to public, risk to ...etc) is not considered actionable...because "risk" can be put under the term "Subjective" and open to interpretation (couch quarterback)....they say we can't forecast risk, people's individual actions....i.e. Use police intuition
But again, you're response must be the last resort, creating the offenders protective capsule, till all threats are reduced.....sounds like a long time.....and a lot of collateral damage and wasted manpower to "hug a thug"

In a sane world legislation would be passed denying civil recourse to anyone (or their families) high on PCP or any other mind altering substance when resisting arrest. This would include force up to and including lethal use of force.
Rahm would crap his pants if someone high on PCP tried to attack him and it took his whole detail to subdue the assailant. I could just see the ballerina screaming to his people to shoot the "victim".

Resident of 019 here. NOW we get enough officers? NOW we taxpayers get protection? Oh yeah, Rammie the Commie is on stage for the world. Now we have to maintain the charade that it's Disneyland here and not a neighborhood of unarmed (except me!) soft targets who live in RAP status while the cretins from the south and west sides rob and beat us during all hours of the day and night. But some millionaires in pretty blue shirts actually learn to throw a baseball, and now we get extra officers.
