Nice Job Charlie

  • In a video that you'll only see on Eyewitness News, city crews were caught throwing shovels full of salt on parked cars in Chicago.

Keeping the streets and sidewalks clear of snow is one of the city's top priorities, but in the rush to lay down salt on North Wacker Drive during Sunday's storm, ABC 7 reporter [...] caught a city crew doing something no person who parks downtown wants to see: a worker shoveling salt from a moving vehicle over the tops of parked cars. The result? A lot of that salt ended up on people's vehicles rather than the sidewalk.

"I really hope that's not how they do it. Maybe they were just trying to get it done quickly, but that should not be the normal way to shovel snow on the sidewalk. i don't shovel it that way," driver Charlet Dupar said.

The Chicago Department of Transportation is responsible for clearing North Wacker Drive, the city's bridges and bike lanes.
We're surprised that Channel 7 hasn't run with the headline, "Former CPD Boss Damages Dozens of Cars." Charlie always wanted to fire coppers - it was his fondest wish to launch everyone with a Rule 14 on their record. Is he shit-canning these morons?

If I caught one of those clowns shoveling salt onto my car there'd be an ass kicking coming their way.

This falls under the department of transportation. Charlie Williams, as despicable as he is, is the commissioner of streets and sanitation.

The city only pays one third of damage value anyway.
Who cares?

Where did this take place? The video shows that they were throwing salt on the sidewalk. I've lived in Chicago all my life and the City has NEVER shoveled or salted my sidewalk.

This isn't Williams' department.

Yes, it does fall under CDOT, not S&S. http://abc7chicago.com/weather/chicago-city-crews-caught-throwing-salt-over-parked-cars--/1652817/

And the head of CDOT isn't on the truck with these idiots. She should discipline them and make certain they pay for any necessary repairs to the cars in question. Must have been a reeeeeally slow news day.

Cholly "Brown" Williams knows he can run S&S like a true and genuine Democrat operation. He doesn't pay for that salt, somebody else does. What Alderstooge goof hired these patronage laborers ?
Cholly's Remedy: Send them to the Water Dept. before anyone asks.

They have to get rid of that salt. The city pays for it, so someone benefits, someone gets paid.

Head-first into the feed mechanism of his own truck...

Salt really CAN fuck your car up.
Especially the clearcoat on your paint
and your alloy rims.

If the city can fine you for not shoveling your sidewalk, which is public property and thus forced labor, can they also require you to shovel the street and alley around your property? Think of all the money Rahm could save by requiring this. No more snow plow drivers. Just make the citizens do it for nothing.

From someone else who knew Charlie back in the day.

Probably Charlie said, "It is not practical to train individual laborers to shovel salt during a winter crisis."
