Shots Fired
- One man was shot, a 9-year-old boy was grazed with glass and another man firing a gun was arrested after police fired shots at him on the West Side Thursday evening.
That shooting was one of at least seven shooting incidents in two West Side patrol districts over a 10-hour period Thursday. Two shootings left two men dead and three others injured and in at least four other cases police heard gunfire, once while standing next to shooting scenes still being investigated.
The police-involved shooting happened about 5 p.m. at Madison Street and Keeler Avenue, where Harrison District officers spotted a disturbance outside of a store -- an argument that escalated, according to police.
Report says no hits by the police and the Officers are all fine.

Is it possible to turn my badge, id and duty weapon in to the radio room at the end of shift everyday and sign it back out for my tour just like a radio and camera. I don't want to be subject to dept rules off duty and the scrutiny of the public, the media and the political pussies. My personal life is personal and should not be subject to that. If the city won't protect its police officers who will. I will conceal carry off duty and on my own time with a non-duty weapon. That way when and i mean when (cause its going to happen) i have to protect myself and my family, they then can't sue the city. See saves money for the tax payers.

Sorry to argue the point but the "west side" has not been like this for 70 years. I grew up in St.Angela parish and lived at Waller and Division until the 70's. Crap started filtering in and ruined one of the best neighborhoods in the city. Scumbag realtors and panic-peddlers put the final nail in the coffin.

This idea was said to have very very briefly considered during the reign of Little King Richie.
You would sign out your equipment, including pistol, at start of tour, back in at end.
Saner minds prevailed when problems with that idea. Like the City would have to buy, maintain, store, etc several thousands of guns.
