2017 Final Numbers

Disregarding the Department's extensive manipulation and outright lies, the final Butcher's Bill for Chicago is as follows (all numbers per HeyJackass.com)
  • Final 2017 Totals
    Shot and Killed: 624
    Shot and Wounded: 2937
    Total Shot: 3561
    Total Homicides: 675
Remember, HeyJackass counts police shootings in their totals (9 CPD, 1 Amtrak, 1 ISP) so that leaves fourteen homicides the Department is hiding so far.

HeyJackass.com also sums up the year as follows:
  • It’s that time of year when we make a piss poor attempt to summarize the year that was. We classified 2016 simply as a “shitshow”. We’re going to say that 2017 was slightly less shitshow-y, but a shitshow nonetheless.

For more than half of the year, 2017 was running ahead of 2016 with such performances like the disastrous July 4th weekend that tallied over 100 shot or the annual Father’s Day Shoot-O-Rahm-a. By August-time, the idiocy, for whatever reason, retraced back to 2015 levels where rainbow farting unicorns grazed along the lakefront and songs of “#crimeisdown” filled the air.

Come midnight Jan 1, 2018, 16.5% less people were dead and nearly 20% less people were found themselves with additional ventilation. Aside from comparing 2017 to the worst year in two decades, a decline in the incline is parade worthy (just don’t invite the carjackers or the $200 million overtimers).

Fortunately, we fell way short with our 2017 prediction of 850 homicides and 3850 shot and wounded. 2018 may likely fall somewhere in-between 2017 and 2015 with 600-650 homicides and 2500-3000 shot and wounded. If the Polar Vortex decides to hang out for much the winter, we think we’ll end up closer to the lower end of that range.

Finally, many thanks to everyone who visited, liked, retweeted, emailed and hit the tip jar this past year. Have yourself a safe and prosperous new year.
Maybe they were running out of people to shoot, leading to the end of year slowdown. We're still betting on well over 500 this year in any event.

How many homicides by things other than deadly weapons?

How many by 'sporting goods" like baseball bats, hockey sticks, golf clubs?

How many "kitchen implements" like butcher knives, meat cleavers, potato mashers, nut crackers?

How many by "workman's tools" like hammers, screwdrivers, jack handles?

How any by "commonly used hydrocarbons" like gasoline, lighter fluid, paint thinner?

How may by "human anatomical appendages" like bare hands, feet or head butts?

Judges may need to know this when they set bond for Aggravated Assaults or Attempted Murder.

The State of Commiefornia is going to add a nickel tax on each bullet to quell the shootings in their State. It is expected to raise 92 million dollars in tax revenues. Isn't this brilliant!? What if they do a dime per bullet do they double the people saved. Maybe each bullet will have that little tax stamp on them, like a pack of cigarettes. The money is really needed to take care of the illegal aliens that are draining the economy of the sanctuary State. Thanks to Governor Moonbeam (D) who wants to bring even more in to vote for all the liberal corupt democrats.

So these are Rahm's values. It would be interesting to see what this costs the taxpayer in terms of police & CFD manhours, ER, hospitalization & rehalibation, burials, legal system costs. Of course it's costing every level of government and medical care. Remember the thugs aren't paying for anything.

Stormin' Norman said during the first gulf war " Bin Ladins ultimate goal in life is to meet 72 virgins in the end. My goal is to grant his wish". Or something like that. Where's our great leadership now? Rahm? Dart? Kimmy? Toni? You can't do community policing in a community that hates the police. Oh God, Jessie's on channel 5 this morning. I just threw up a little in my mouth. Gotta go!

Here are a couple of factors for the end of the year decrease:
- 30,000+ less people in Illinois; most from Chicago, leads to less victims. Murders go down.
- Really cold holiday season (although weather may or may not affect crime and violence, based on who you listen to).
I say we top 600 again. Let's see what happens once the frigid weather wanes away.

Every time there's an article in the Daily Caller or Breitbart pertaining to Chicago's Murder Stats, I first note that the stats in the article are wrong because they're going from sources like the Chicago Tribune's stats. I then post a Hot Link to HeyJackass and post the correct stats from the HeyJackass website.

I point out how the CPD Brass play with Violent Crime stats to lower them wherever possible. Like pretending Shootings and Homicides that happen on the Expressways within the city's limits don't exist because the X-Ways are patrolled by the Illinois State Police. Or those quizzical 'Death Investigations' -- like when a Dead Body is found in an abandoned building who is tied to a chair and was set on fire.

I also plug Second City Cop when the chance arises. Like on articles pertaining to Police / Policing.

More fake news:

Police and community leaders in Chicago are working together with a unique program relying on science and the human touch to curb the city's infamous murder rate. Scott Pelley reports on "The Chicago Violence Reduction Strategy," a program that utilizes experimental computer statistics and other factors that police say help predict who is most likely to shoot a gun and or be shot. Pelley's story will be broadcast on 60 Minutes, Sunday, Jan. 7 at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT.

I would like to see the dismal clear-up rate added in the totals. I think if I read it correctly, 12% for 650 mostly shot dead is some kind of National Low. I'll bet with the D Unit being some of the brightest and finest the Department has to offer (merit included) we will see a clear-up rate soon to be in the 8% area.
