Gang Team Arrested

Once again, a phone call unit is going to bring unimaginable heat and disgrace to the Department. One sergeant and two-to-four PO's out of Area Central if initial reports are correct. Here's a clue boys and girls:
  • Money or drugs just left in a car rarely happens in real life. At least, not in the amounts that snared you. And now you'll be going to prison.
You aren't the first and unfortunately, you won't be the last, who think that they're smarter than the system. Thanks.

Absolute idiots. I've always been very hesitant of transporting arrests for these Area teams whenever they come over the air. You just never know the circumstances of their initial stop, arrest, or how they piece everything together afterward. They seem to think because they don't have cameras, no one else does either.

I'm just surprised after reading comments in previous threads that this hasn't been all over the news. Could they be asking the media to be quiet because more arrests are forthcoming?

In other news. Nice story about a dedicated cop:

January 26, 2018

The day after his funeral, investigator's final case ends with conviction in 15-year-old Joliet murder

A Will County judge on Monday is set to sentence Eric Glover Sr. for the 2002 murder of his girlfriend, Velma Franklin.

Judge Carla Alessio Policandriotes convicted Glover, 44, Nov. 15 of shooting Franklin at her home in the 600 block of Third Avenue in Joliet. He faces 45 years to life in prison.

The chilling details of the case haunted an Evergreen Park native who was the Joliet Police Department's lead investigator at the time of the killing. James Stewart retired from the department in 2009 then began a second career as lead investigator for the Will County state's attorney's office.

"When he came to work for me, he told me I should look into that case," State's Attorney Jim Glasgow said in an interview. "That murder case would never, ever have been prosecuted if it wasn't for Jim Stewart."

Stewart died Nov. 9 at age 64 of mesothelioma, a cancer caused by inhaling asbestos fibers. Glasgow said as a young man, Stewart worked a couple summers for his father's construction business. He was buried on Nov. 14, the day before Glover's conviction following a seven-day bench trial.

"He felt there was enough of a case that this person could be convicted of murder," said his widow, Amy Stewart. "He had a very good memory."

Stewart's dogged persistence in the case is evident upon a review of court filings, newspaper accounts of the trial and interviews with family members and former colleagues. Stewart tracked down witnesses who had left the area.

"There was never anybody we were looking for that he couldn't find," Glasgow said of Stewart's skills in multiple investigations. "He would treat the bad guys with respect, and they respected him back. He would solve more cases because they would give him information they wouldn't give anyone else."

The story that emerges of Franklin's murder is one of alleged domestic violence, tragedy and justice after a 15-year delay.

When it happens for real it’s shocking to us and pisses us off. I’ll do whatever I can to help a fellow officer out but if you take money, drugs etc, there’s no difference separating you from any other shithead. For that reason, I say fuck all these jagoffs. All are a disgrace and I’m personally glad they got rolled up. I’ve worked with so many brave and amazing men and women, which I’m thankful for. The Feds are ALWAYS dropping cars full of dope and
money in Chicago...

Why?

Because they KNOW some dumb-assed copper(s)
WILL bite.

Especially you thirsty, untouchable/clouted m/fers in
in those phone call units.

You know...

The units famous for demands for "activity/numbers/production"
to make the BOSSHOLES of those units look good at their monthly
group grope where they re-inforce the no-longer-meaningful/credible
demands for "activity/numbers/production" from the gullible saps
who flock to these units because they don't want to put their time
in pushing a beat car.

Carhartts and backward ball caps are seen as a sign of "I've Arrived
As A Policeman."

No... No you haven't...
Not if dumb shit LIKE THIS continues to happen.

Whatever...

The ENTIRE supervisory echelon of this latest batch of morons
should be shoved against a wall of sandbags if actual accountability
were the order of the day.

"Aw wotdafuk man! You can't expect us to know
what dese guys are doin' all da time!"

Turning a willfully blind eye is NEVER
an affirmative defense.

Nor is calling your clout when things
swap ends and charge at you.

And if the Feds have these knuckle-heads
standing on the scaffold already?

All their associated clout should have
gotten the pre-dawn knock at the door too.

...THEIR clout as well.

And their clout's clout.

We recall an interesting anecdote in the
aftermath of Operation Greylord.

The Feds didn't reel all the bastards in
because there would have been nobody left
standing to hunt in the future.

Chicago should be burned to the fucking ground
so that the decent and law abiding can stand
a chance.

Police Like You Have No Friends...

I almost can't believe a group of officers (and a Sgt) would act so recklessly and NOT expect to be caught. Did they just ignore the entire SOS scandal?

These types of incidents give great leverage for those pushing for reform and accountability. It just sickens me that any fellow officer would be so selfish as to risk their financial and personal freedom to rob drug dealers. In addition to the embarrassment their families will go through. And for anyone who believes "there must be more to the story," there probably isn't. Especially if this was the result of a year long investigation by the FBI and IAD. If they were doing everything right, this would have died right away. I guess doing simple TVB arrests like every other gang officer was just not exciting enough

The story before mentions police going in a fire for a rescue. They will be rewarded. They went above their call of duty.
In this case officers allegedly stole, abused their power and they will be punished if found guilty.
The media will eat this story up but to put it simply we balance life by risk reward system.

A few things that come to mind......

- Gang Enforcement is hardly a “phone call unit” It’s still in patrol, and has long outlived it’s usefulness. When it was first started, it was a completely different unit than it has been the last few years. About 3 years ago I heard guys in GEU complaining that it was just a “glorified saturation unit.” Nowadays, they aren’t a glorified saturation team, they ARE a saturation team. It’s time to do away with that unit and send those guys back to the districts.

- And just out of curiosity, what were this “meritorious” Sgt’s worthy accomplishments that got him made? Actually used to seem like a nice enough guy, but never heard of anything he’d done on the job. His wife also made dic meritoriously. Which is funny, she worked tact in 010 for years, but is at the area crying about wanting to make overtime. If you came from tact in 010, you should still have cases making their way through court as a new detective. Never done a thing.
Meritorious must run in their family.

Every one has a price at which they would be tempted to take. Personally, the only time I would consider taking money would have to involve two drug dealer who shot it out and both were dead. With a bag of money laying between the two fuck heads, no camera's, and no witnesses to the event. I like the percentages of this scenario, and would take the change. Anything to get off this fucked up job. Dealing with merit bosses, the new police, and the public who hates your guts is worth the chance. I'm in no way promoting anyone to go back to taking traffic money's, bribes from drug dealers, or making a stupid meet for compensation from a criminal. Sooooo, a large sum of money left in a vehicle, percentages jump up to a 90% setup. My scenario is much better in not getting setup.

I'll bet it was some older cops or guys with at least over five years on the job. Millenial officers would have been too scared. I was going to write 'too smart,' but that wouldn't really be the correct way to describe the new breed of coppers. Oh, and the ones that did this are completely retarded. Was the Sgt that got stripped merit?

In these "ab-normal" times, with the "G" so embarrassed by the 7th floor revelations, this smacks of damage control by head hunting. If the coppers were this stupid, so be it. But, if I can look askance at the motivation of the G, it tells me just how damaging the last year has been to that agency.

Innocent until proven guilty.

Just because it's a Fed job doesn't mean our guys are instantly guilty.

In fact, I'd say that given how politically compromised federal law enforcement has been shown to be, their reputation is lower than dirt right now.

And with the vast criminal conspiracies and crime wave going on with these street gangs here in Chicago (over 100,000 known gang members here and counting), you mean to tell me that a sarge and 2-4 cops should be anywhere on the feds' radar? They can f*ck right off with that, those arrogant cucks that they are.

Not to excuse any misconduct from our own that ultimately erodes public trust in us, makes our job harder, and brings discredit to our dept; I'm not excusing or sticking up for cops who break the law because we are held to a higher standard.

I just have a problem with how the feds do their business. They'll bend over backward to cover for Hillary and her criminal organization, make up bullsh*t to try and take down President Trump, and I'm expected to take them seriously when the best they can come up with is bone head coppers here on the south or west side or wherever?

That said, there are some basic rules to live by on our job, and I will take this moment to list them:

1. Don't pick up anything off the street.
2. Never ever trust a fed.
3. Never ever trust a boss.
4. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
5. Never ever trust a fed.
6. Everyone lies to you - your boss, your partner (s), the victim, the offender, the citizens.

Stay safe.

These are the same guys that when they call the area to say they have someone in custody, I dread getting assigned to handle their mess. When you ask them for a Supp report they say, "WE" don't do sup reports because we are Prim donnas. These fools will make an arrest in 008 and bring it to 001 because their office is there. Well Prima donnas, the G.O states that you will process the arrest in the District the arrest was made. Not your office.

Well Good Luck to all of you at Club Fed.

Merit promotee as usual...... the Merit boss that put him in for the spot should be accountable too. If you are not smart enough to pass the tests on orders and policy how are you smart enough to make and create the new orders and policy? And cheating don’t count as passing!

WTF!!!! This is sad. It will only get worse with the record amount of thugs getting on the job. Thanks to a lack of interest, we have lowered the standards of what it takes to become an officer within the city of SHITcago.

I don’t understand all of the comments and whining about “why don’t they have cameras!?” You really think cameras would have deterred these dumb fucks? Stop worrying about what other units or teams do and why they don’t have cameras and if you don’t know why you must need more time on the job

Only the police are guilty until proven innocent.
Sounds like entrapment to me.
Never trust a fed.
How quickly we turn on ourselves.

Do you even know what “entrapment” is??? They were not “entrapped”, they were caught.

Pick up a law book, dumb fuck.

Wrong buddy-that was changed on a BOP a couple years ago. Sorry you are inconvenienced and have to drive the other way in a work car on work gas to do your job.

Sure, morale is at an all time low. Sure, the brass and the mayor's office throw us under the bus on a whim. True, the county cuts loose everyone we arrest, often making it difficult to understand why we even try anymore.
Still, theft, in any form, can never be condoned. Of course. Theft shows a complete lack of integrity, which is crucial to do this job. Of course.
But Maybe...when there are over 12,000 members of this department, who are all well aware that the Superintendent's wifey, and several of her friends, are stealing over $15,000 a year, in essence from other officers, with the Superintendent's knowledge and [at least tacit] consent...just maybe the notion that a few officers will say fuck it, and start strong-arming the shitheads, should have been anticipated.

It's one thing to say that the brass has no integrity. This administration, however, flaunts it, and laughs in our face about it, while giving us the finger. With this atmosphere, and this amount of officers, it was only a matter of time, and there will probably be more.
When Ed has to do the presser on this one, and makes his points about "trust", I can't say for sure if I'll be laughing with him, or crying. Betrayal is difficult to deal with.

So, a Merit Sgt. takes the bait. Probably wishes he
was never connected.
As for the honest guy not cutting the Lt. test: must be
frustrating, but sometimes you just move up into a bigger
rat maze. More targets on you and more back stabbers.

BUNCH OF MERIT HACKS....seems like almost everytime there is a scandal, it involves merit picks. I guess if you do Not have to play by the rules to get promoted, you assume that applies to everything!
