Superintendent says recruits are working "One on One" with field training officers. What a lie, working two or three deep in 022 or throwing them on the desk for weeks at a time.
If PPO's were actually getting one-on-one training, there wouldn't be a class of "acting" FTO's starting next Monday at the Academy. Where we're at, they wouldn't be riding two deep with the existing FTO's...or three when someone wants a day off. They wouldn't be assigned to the Desk for a week or riding with the sergeants.

What kinda f*cking bizarro planet are we on. The dept is so out of whack, but then to lie to the public about it? That’s just wrong.
The superintendent also said that the department will be reviewing ALL officer involved shootings...past and current!!!! Be careful out there!

FTO is an important job, and they get shit on by the dept constantly. With that in mind, No One should be voluntold/volunteering for the "acting FTO" spot. This shortage of FTO was 100% caused by the dept. Let the FTO's use this as leverage to finally get something in the next contact.

He didn't get demoted. They do this so they can cash in on a new round of furlough, PD, and BFDs. Captain's have a bargaining unit, Commanders don't.
Man that’s scary. I’m on a larger Suburban PD and all our rookies go through 16 weeks of a very structured one on one FTO program. We are very selective and handpick hires and even we run into issues only hiring 2-3 a time. Can’t imagine what you guys go through.
Who gives a fuck? All that matters is that their 9.5% is deducted from their checks for our pension every two weeks.

There’s about to be a mass exodus of FTOs once swiping comes down citywide. Remember that 30min extra before and end of your tour.
Why are any PPOs assigned to train in 001 and 018? They are not going to learn much there. No body should go there for training. All of the recruits should be rotated to a different district every 6 months so during their 18 month probation they can get work tips from three different FTOs and see a better cross section of our city and the morons that occupy it. Required districts of training should be at least one of the following other 007, 011 & 015. Then 010, 012 & 014 then 008, 009, 016, 017, 019, 020, 022, 023.

In my District alone, 4 of the worse officers on my watch are now FTO's and one of them with no time on the job, the Commander was forced to put him on days because headquarters said to give them what they want. You should have figured out by now that the media does not care about issues that they do not feel are important for headlines and advertisers. The internal workings of the police department fall into that category; promotional exams, assignments, how many FTO's we have, merit promotions, the competency of commanders and higher ( 17% murder clearance rate and chief of detectives still around), etc and etc and I could go on.

So long as Rham can say he hired a thousand, he does not care about how poorly the are trained. Worry about law suits from the poor training later. I hope no coppers get hurt or killed because of this.

Bubblehead going back to Capt is a move that the exempts all want to do right before retirement. If they retire as ana exempt they have to pay a much higher amount for health insurance. If they retire at their civil service rank they pay the 2% agreed upon in the contracts. Supt does not have to allow them to go back to their civil service rank before retirement, but it is done more often than you think
2nd district fto and sergeants are riding 3 and 4 per car. It's sooooo crazy. One on one right. I think they need to give Special Ed ...a mandatory physical examination. For if he was a wooden boy his noses will grow.

Ed doesn’t run this department, the department is run by Sean Malinowski who left LAPD and is at the University of Chicago Crime Lab. Per Rahm he has direct communication with exempts and their Captains and Lieutenants via text messaging to avoid detection and hide from FOIA. Ed doesn’t even know that this is happening.

The career service ranks get subsidized health care on retirement. The exempts do not. So once they have enough time in grade to get a gold star pension ( or most of it) they step down to get health care.

Not a chance in hell. The only reason he is all over this is because the populist winds in Chicago blow in support of the poor Bauer Family, and a lot of people recognize the fact that he created this situation of us being short manpower, escalation of crime downtown and Paul even being dragged into the mess in the first place. Exempts now voluntarily revert to their career service rank so they can get the 2% health care covered under Captains and Lieutenants contracts.

Does not the LAPD pay detectives at least what sergeants make or more? They might do this with other jobs as well. I noticed that their training officers were two stripes. I don't really know what their pay grades are but I do know cops in California make a lot of money with pensions well into the 6 figures.
They should have taken the $10 million and put it into the police pension instead of that bullshit predictive crimes nonsense. You might as well as taken the money and thrown it into a bonfire.

Actually the exempts go back to Lt or Capt to get their accumulated comp time paid. Exempts don't get comp time. It just sits there and is not paid if they retire or leave the dept. as an exempt.

Ill tell you what FTO, you are forced to attend the training because you are an FTO, and its FTO training. If you don't like it, then quit. Some of their FTOs were absolute bums, drunks, and whoremongers who even slept with prostitutes in the back of the squad after dropping off their PPO to go have lunch somewhere alone.
Even today, I know of an FTO In a NW side district who makes their PPOs pull over so they can take a nap for 30 during their tour of duty...on days.

In 016 on all watches FTO have 2-3 PPO at a time.... ALL the time!!!

There shouldn’t be that many recruits in 016 in the first place. They shouldn’t get their cycles in 916 unless you want recruits not learning to be the police in the first place
