This is a sanctuary city, right? And guns are heavily regulated? So Rahm should at least be as safe as this guy:

He who fights for justice has nothing to fear,” Lopez Obrador said after meeting with President Enrique Pena Nieto, who he said offered federal protection.
Rahm should give this a try.

This guy campaigned on kicking the dea out of Mexico and granting amnesty to all drug dealers. So he has nothing to worry about.
By State of Illinois statute ANY elected official is also a peace officer. And is entitled to carry a sidearm.
So why do any of them get guard details?
If he does (or tries to do) what he sails he is planning on doing, he isn’t going to last very long in office.
He knows that the "Security Services" are in the pay of the Drug Cartels.

They are assigned (and counted as district manpower) on foot posts in patrol until shanks needs a driver, then they are called into valet service on the taxpayers dime.
This, with the knowledge and approval of Rahm, who dumped this onto the already understaffed department.

By state statute peace officers are required to have so many hours of firearm training. And I don't know of any politician that has done that so that means they are not eligible to carry a firearm.
