Don't Enforce the Law?
Does anyone have a copy of the Administrative Fax that told Officers not to enforce the Winter Snow Ban Parking Regulations until notified to do so by the brass? Rumor has it that it went out under (surprise!) the Chief of Patrol's signature, thereby bypassing the legislative wishes of the City Council.
We can all agree that the Ordinance, as written, is nothing but a money grab that makes almost no sense to logical thinking people. But those "logical thinking people" are also among those voting assorted aldermorons into office on a regular basis, so you can say they bring it upon themselves. Plus, there are signs just about everywhere, and flyers this time for Pete's sake.
The Department doesn't (or shouldn't) get to pick and choose which ordinances get enforced. That's Crimesha's job.....no wait, that's not right either. Damn, now we're all confused.
So who wrote and towed all those cars if the Department was ordered not to? Streets and San? Revenue? Vanecko and Sons Towing?

how about I take it further and dont write anything.
TOW cmon streets and Sans have plenty of high school drop out hired to write up snow tows.
Or may be i can get a spot in 008 review lying and not taking emergency calls for help.
There are 2 parking bans. 1 is automatic: 01dec til 01apr. The other is the 2” snow tow that has always been ignored until the chief of patrol gives the order to enforce it, which never happens. It doesn’t make any sense since the automatic one usually has no snow and the other it’s beyond 2” and there’s no where to park and no copper is going to get out of a warm squad car to shovel out a car to see the plate.
I believe this has to do with the no parking 2" or more of snow enforcement. Which has always been the case...

I don’t park on any Chicago streets for any reason.
Hence, I don’t give a fuck.
Perhaps the sequence has become:
1. Those who can pay and can read and can think and want to not be compelled to pay are not parking where they will be towed.
2. Those who can pay, but can't read and/or can't think, are getting towed and bitched about it.
3. Those who can't pay, can and cannot read, do think and conclude fuck that shit, get towed and then holler, don't pay, holler louder, still don't pay, then throw a fit.
4. Any carjacked vehicles amongst the harvest?
5. Locations of towed?
The chicago city council; producing odious ordinances in accordance to their shitty natures.

Ever notice that cars parked in snow ban parking spots are only towed when there is no snow and never when there is?

I say write nothing, arrest no one - because I’m right in the middle of Man in a High Castle. I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t have Netflix & Amazon streaming in the car?
At the end of the day, none of this shit matters.
This is the reason that I purchased a house with a driveway and no alley. I park all of my cars in the garage, and any guest's can park in the yard out of the city's revenue reach.
All this is a grab by the city and Vanecko Towing to rob you.

Just an observation. In the 45th. Ward, there is a large population of automobile owners that live along Streets where this parking ban is in effect. There are soon to be many more automobile owners, that will be living in this same area. The side streets will not be able to accommodate all these vehicles during these ban days. Where will they find parking ?

And how many private tow companies are operating/contracted with the city and are they doing the snow towing?
City wants it both ways. Money and understanding.
The Snow Tow nonsense is an every year issue, nice spike in revenue but with the Feb’19 election, Lame Phuck Rahm doesn’t care about a snow bound cars blocking major arterial streets.
Just blame the Police and let the 21 candidates yammer about the underserved having to pay parking fines like 5-car Joe.

maybe the city should let people park in school lots over night during the parking ban and possibly move the ban to 1 January. There is no place to park on the north side. Way too many no parking areas or zone parking, narrow streets etc.
Aggressive Panhandlers are free to terrorize also.
And im still waiting on the payment I sent to Chicago for the labor of having to shovel city property in front of my house. If I can get a ticket for that bullshit then they better pony up and pay me for my time at 250 an hour to shovel for a side walk I never use.

How about towing a certain U S congressman from the "No Parking Zone " he uses very day while driving his government supplied Lexus with the wrong license plate at his favorite coffee spot??
Guys....this is about the 2in or more Ban.
Not the 3am - 7am parking ban.
Cops in 11 and 15 routinely were issuing the ticket for the 2in ban after decent snow fall to get their activity and screw with the area.
Even as gang ho as I am while I am on duty, Finance Does not Issue the 2in ban unless the Ban is announced by OEMC Snow Command.
Chief of Patrol actually doesn't have the authorization to order the enforcement. Thats Per the Comptrollers office, and by Charter, the Comptroller for the City of Chicago Is the Highest Ranking Parking Enforcement Official in this city.
Legally speaking of course. But you should have seen the look on the face of the Burger Queen when I pulled that line on her for parking illegally by a dunking donuts in the 1st ward a few years ago in her unmarked ford.
