Solution? More Signs!
- Chicago police are looking into the possibility that illicit drug-dealing may have led to a shooting in a tunnel between two busy Loop subway stations during Thursday’s evening rush hour.
The 27-year-old man who was shot in the hip has been arrested many times and has felony convictions for narcotics and weapons-related offenses, according to court records.
We need some "No Drugs" signs like the "No Guns" signs that keep the CTA tunnels, platforms and trains so safe.

Well said, SCC. People love to scream about "tougher gun laws" but that never seems to include tougher gun SENTENCING laws. Guns should be given the respect that they're due and that means zero tolerance for those who carry/use them unlawfully.

There were hundreds of people there at the height of the rush hour and with our Chicago home grown shooters who often do not hit their targeted victim but others it is amazing that many innocent people were not hit. The problem here is not admitting there is a problem and doing something about it. Why cater to the scumbag "victim" who is refusing to cooperate. We are not taking you to the hospital. So why not release the "high resolution" CTA videos of the offender to the public so the shooter can be arrested for endangering hundreds of lives? You will see more and more of this as the bangers follow their target into crowds in areas like downtown where no one is going to stop them and they can get away in the crowd much easier than shooting someone in the hood where someone might shoot them,nand the hood is flooded with police.

The CTA is unsafe at any time, any place. Decades ago, CTA had their own police force. Then, when it was disbanded policing was taken over by the CPD Mass Transit Unit, which is and has been historically undermanned. And then Humberman, and "Mumbles" Daley came up with the idea of Cameras replacing cops! Mumbles went to London and was enchanted by the Cameras being everywhere, so he brought the idea to Shitcaga. But London is NOT Shitcaga, and it should be noted that the cameras in London actually are monitored and talk to you. If they see you littering, someone will actually tell you to pick it up. The cameras here are not all monitored, at all times. BOTTOM LINE; SIMPLE REALITY: THE CTA CAMERAS CANNOT STOP A CRIME IN PROGRESS, THEY CANNOT ARREST OR APPREHEND AN OFFENDER! I worked CPD Mass Transit for twenty years of my career, and I can tell you it is always UNSAFE, unless there are cops on the platforms and on the trains with you. Wouldn't it be reassuring to the public if Superintendent Johnson humbled himself and rode the bus or the train with everyday people in the "underserved" more violent community during their commute to and from their gainful employment.

I have had a law enforcement career spanning more than 30 years which included time as a PO, an 1811 series federal agent and a supervisory special agent with an elite three letter agency that street thugs absolutely dread and fear. My career has taken me to some of the worlds most dangerous locales and throughout my travels I have not seen a sharper law enforcement professional than Fred Waller. As I stated previously Fred has been the real police since 11/16/1986. He is an alumni of 86-3 and everyone in each of the home rooms comprising that group saw that Fred was a quiet but very focused guy with tremendous leadership and interpersonal skills. We knew he would become a boss. I heard Traffic Ace Marshall Pufundt tell my HRI that Fred would become a major boss.
I no longer live in Chicago but if I were in Chicago and I needed emergency police service from the real police I’d hope someone Fred has mentored and trained would respond. I wouldn’t want to have to save my ass plus the asses of the responding officers coming to help me. So I will ask the zone to send one of Fred Waller’s acolytes if I need police service. If they can’t find any I’ll handle the problem myself. If you don’t understand where I’m coming from go ask somebody. By the way you can bet Fred Waller will get a police chief job in a mid to large sized city within 2 years. I still have a nice juicy lemon you haters can suck on.

Who is really failing? Commander of Narcotics Ronald Kimble, who has not done nearly enough to deal with the war over drug sales in the downtown central business district. There are waring factions operating all over downtown. The most significant casuality of this war was Paul Bauer. What have we done to prevent his death from being in vain. NOTHING! When we sould be down there running buy busts all over every day and night. Kimble is failing, but that was predictable since he was only promoted because he brought Tiny Dancer's son home after he was caught dirty. He saved the kid from a criminal record and was merit promoted twice becuase of it. So that is the definition of merit we have all been looking for. And since he was SO meritorious, it only makes perfect sense to make him a Commander and hide him in Narcotics. What damage could he do there? Only aid to the crime rate due to lack of doing his job. Another merit failure provided by our other CPD merit failures. Cycle of everything bad on the CPD. The future of the CPD goes by way of the merit system. Fix it we will have a police department, leave it alone and the CPD circus will remain in town with all the usuall performers entertaining the masses. There will be grand marsshal's (we call them superintendants) and the usual cast of performing clowns (the exempt). I would love to see them all riding a bus as has been suggested. A real life clown bus. Chime up the clown music on the PA system, pop the corn and grab the cotton candy. Maybe Kimble will drive the bus around the loop. He will insist on all minority clowns, his biggest priority after all.

Mass transit, where it numbers 125 officers to cover 3 watches and 5 lines. Actually 1 1/2 lines since only red line south and blue congress are ever manned. Where the cars to get to calls were taken away around the late 90 s. Where special employment was reduced to 2 teams per watch from 7 teams early this year and 9 teams not to long ago. Where plain clothes officers were thrown into uniform because an ex-cpd boss at CTA had a cow and it was stopped. Yeah the city/ cta really cares about the people of Chicago..
