Butthurt Aldercreature

  • Baseball and cold beer were distant dreams on a recent icy afternoon as Ald. Tom Tunney hustled past Wrigley Field, pointing out the several restaurants and bars in the new hotel and office building the Ricketts family, which owns the Chicago Cubs, put up around the stadium’s west side.

Workers on cherry pickers rose up along the facade of the ballpark itself, carrying out the latest renovations in a yearslong modernization.

“When they say I’m standing in their way, all I can say is ‘Are you kidding?’ ” Tunney asked, raising his arms to take in the new construction.

Since the billionaire owners bought the team in 2009, they set out to spend about $1 billion on the Friendly Confines and developments around the park, Ricketts family spokesman Dennis Culloton says. Through it all, Culloton says, Tunney’s stood in the team’s way.

Now, Tunney says the Ricketts family is looking to help finance somebody’s election campaign to take him out. Culloton acknowledges the family is thinking about backing a challenger.
Businesses always attempt a balancing act with aldercreatures - hiring connected companies (who kick up to the aldercreature), making the maximum allowable political "donations," hiring relatives, etc. But sometimes, the demands get a little bit out of hand and it becomes cheaper to look for a new aldercreature face who isn't always there with his/her hand out. If a politician doesn't stay bought, what good are they?

This is true. I have a friend in a trade union that was building a condo building. One day, a representative from the alderman’s office payed a visited the site and handed the supervisor on scene a list of 3 people that were to be hired and payed by that particular union. They were to be ghost patrollers since they would never appear and the job site.
This was around the year 2000.

I verified the account with my friend before posting. I promised I would not reveal which alderman, ward, union, or address of the job site-but it DID happen.

The good thing is that the union refused to go along with the scheme and never hired the 3

The Ricketts family paid for these projects and improvements with their own money yet this clown wants to limit what they can and can’t do. I know there has to be some oversight but that’s what the building department and city planners are for, not some full of himself alderman. Tunney keeps saying he’s sticking up for the small business owners ie bars around Wrigley. Guess what, maybe these dumps should put a couple of bucks into remodeling their establishments and they would continue to thrive. So many are run down and are allowed to exceed their capacity for the entire baseball season. They put port o potties on their property instead of adding bathrooms, for the entire season, year after year. How is that legal. Ow the Ricketts have built a hotel with several bars and restaurants and guess what they’re very nice, modern and clean and you do t have to walk out the back door to pee in a portable john.

Yeah, I get it boys. You were just playing the game by Chicago rules.
And you ran your neighborhoods in to the crapper doing it.
Where are are the cops who vanished in the 019th, when 'that would never happen'?
Where are their replacements you promised for supporting Rahm's huge property tax hike?
What's happened to crime rates in the 19th?
Where was your leadership opposing that illegal 'sprinkler retrofit' moneygrab?
....could go on for miles.....
Not even worth it any more.

For example is they want to their grass area in front of the stadium to be consider a porch for their bar and be able to serve all night long like a regular bar. Problem is, a regular bar does not have a 1000+ person capacity. they have also tried to get permission to close sheffield and waveland on game days and have their entertainment/bars on the street. They don't like to be told no. I don't need them to own every bar; they are making enough money.

In order to be bought the buyer must have brought something.

Proper English Usage would dictate.... "I wanted to tear down Holy Name Cathedral and put up the 30 story Vanecko - Koschman 'Gateway to Rush Street' strip bar so I brought the Aldercreature a bag of cash for the zoning variance and permit approval, I sure hope he stays bought, the bastard."

The Cubs organization is QUITE sensitive
about THIS... "Clark" in caricature appears
to have been mostly scrubbed from the public domain
because the Cubs organization took it deep, hard
and fast from the fans who upon laying eyes on
"Clark" in caricature, did ponder and opine much
about how utterly and abjectly butt-hurt
the new mascot looks.

"Wotdafuk?," was the usual reaction.

He was asking all the police what “THE” problem is and we of course chimed in about the illegal Consent Decree and our hideous States Attorneys Office not prosecuting and charging bad guys. He said that’s all about to change in a MAJOR way, and of course Merry Christmas. It seemed like he’s living here now.
