Time for the "Silly Season"
Where court "challenges" take place and all twenty-one candidates jockey for the inside track by knocking off the weaker candidates or those not approved by the Machine:
- A lawyer for Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle filed petition challenges Monday against state comptroller Susana Mendoza and four other women candidates for mayor as the process of paring down the field of 21 got underway.
Preckwinkle election lawyer Keri-Lyn Krafthefer denied the campaign was targeting women for removal from the ballot, even though the only female opponent left unchallenged was Amara Enyia, the community organizer backed by Chance the Rapper.
Mendoza’s supporters accused Preckwinkle and other mayoral opponents of ganging up on her to keep her out of the race.
Declaring Mendoza to be the “frontrunner” in the race for mayor, her campaign co-chairs Marty Castro and Kathy Byrne predicted the effort to discredit Mendoza’s nominating petitions will fail.
The Machine has along memory, and the fact that Janie's daughter is working for Mendoza isn't going to win Mendoza any leeway during the challenges. In fact, it'll probably hurt her as the Machine was never happy about Byrne winning.

I have noticed that ever since the video of Susana Mendoza "leaked". She is given a lot of publicity by all the media. Both newspapers, all four tv news channels, channel 11 and the talk shows on radio make her more competent and give her the status as "the front runner". Therefore, I am very suspicious and she won't get my vote.
The media did the same thing with Hillary Clinton. In her two presidential runs and run for Senate in New York.

Regardless of the merits of the case, Pricktinkle is doing this because she just doesn't have what it takes to compete against these other women. If she did, she wouldn't care.

Seems to be that just because there wasn’t another candidate for CC Bd President why would anyone arbitrarily cast a vote for her even if she’s a tax happy louse?
Maybe these people think an unchecked box on a ballot renders it null and void, but its just an undervote, still a valid ballot that’s counted. Keep that in mind next election folks.

1,503,353 registered Chicago voters
912,061 ballots cast and the other 582,292 stayed up in the crib.
728,772 - voted PugNastyWrinkle
722,952 - flushed for JB Toilets
Those dozen or so community activist candidates, they aren’t going to get close to 2,000 votes each.
PugNastywrinkle certainly is worried about not making that runoff, isn’t she.

This mayoral race is going to be very interesting, with the fate of this city and department at stake. As bad as it is now, it will be much worse with Preckwinkle. Remember she is Kim Foxx’s mentor. All of us should ask the candidates who will keep our hospitalization, and vote accordingly. So far only two who have said that they would are McCarthy (who I can’t stand) and Vallas.
Old timers may remember that Toni P. was the Hyde Park alderperson who followed old Larry Bloom (Felony Jail time), into office. Casting herself as a reformer has been effective for her, but she is Ex-Machina thru and thru.

You are simultaneously right and wrong. After the boundaries were changed, Preckwinkle represented the community previously represented by Bloom.
They represented the same community under different ward identifiers.
