Bad Start to the Year

  • Police have released the name of the Shreveport, Louisiana, officer who was fatally shot as she was heading to work ahead of the start of her shift Wednesday night.

Chateri Payne was shot multiple times while in her uniform and died within hours of being transported to a local hospital, Shreveport police chief Ben Raymond announced this morning.
Twenty-two years old and not even on the street two months. And that was only one of two rookies killed this week:
  • Natalie Corona was a rising star in her police department with a sparkling smile and a huge heart who had followed in her father’s footsteps and became an officer, fulfilling a lifelong dream just a few months ago when her dad pinned the badge on her uniform.

On Friday, her father and a stunned community mourned the 22-year-old who was shot and killed on duty while responding to a multi-vehicle crash in the small college town of Davis, California.
Another twenty-two year old...at a traffic accident. Two of five officers killed already this year.

I know these two young officers were welcomed into the arms of the Almighty. We are slowly witnessing the death of a nation. May God bless the USA and save us from the insanity that has overtaken our world.

To all you younger guys and gals, please don't wear your full uniform to and from work. Wear a cover or just carry your shirt until you get to work. Also, please be aware of your social media accounts. Many of you have them public. I know it's the new age and I'm just a dinosaur but these days especially we must protect ourselves and our families. You post details about your daily activities and have pics of your loved ones. Make them private so idiots can't use them against you.
May the fallen officers and their families find peace.

There is no such thing as society.

It's just like soylent green.

Only people.

Lots and lots of people.

Any one of which can be the one.

This is true for everyone.

More risky to those who are employed to interact with people.

Most risky to those employed to interact with people under circumstances and in situations of inherent peril.

The wrong place at the wrong time is precisely where those most at risk are going to be.

Those not so employed do not have a fucking clue.

So, "society", as a whole, is not any kind of "whole", other than an asshole.

The first shooting in La looks like it was a domestic and still under investigation. The second was a straight up ambush at the scene of a traffic accident.
To check on stats about gun crime across the USA check out "GUNVIOLENCEARCHIVE.ORG"
Updated daily and has all sorts of info. Pretty interesting stuff. SCC, you should put this up on your home page as a reference site.

A reminder to consider attending the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington DC, (app dates) 13-15 May 2019, where we can 'Honor Our Fallen' including the tragic loss of (4) four of Chicago's Finest last year to be honored in 2019 in DC.
God Bless ALL our fellow first responders

I can't understand why anyone would do this job in this climate. I always encourage people who ask about being the police, to join the fire dept. You make the same or better money and help the public. Much better job.

This makes good common sense, also take the punisher decals off that wrangler and the hat bands off the mirror lastly how many active members stickers do you need on windshield 1 is ok but multiple draws to much “look at me attention!”

We are on our Own after that.

We go from mandatory body cams, limited authority to display a weapon at suspects, stand on our heads, hop around bending over apologizing, and still the politicians ignore the actions for their violence prone constituencies.

Restorative justice practices needs to be reviewed, eliminated especially in these sanctuary jurisdictions and subject these States and municipalities to meet the violent crime reduction standards as written in the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, H.R. 3355.
Oh yeah, that was racist, fundamentally changed, transformed and ignored by Democrats 8 years ago.

And importantly, why is H.R.5698 - Protect and Serve Act of 2018 still sitting in the Senate Judiciary Committee?

Probably the worst decision I ever made in life was getting into this profession. I thought it was honorable. Now I am made to feel like a jack-booted racist thug by the media and sheeple. My every move watched frame by frame in slow motion by people who hate me and want to destroy my entire life. And virtually the only time I hear anything good about my profession is when one of our brothers or sisters in blue gets slaughtered...

Isn't the very premise of black lives matter all about (and only about) race?

Blue lives matter is the antithesis of that. Police officers come from all races and creeds, working together for the benefit and safety of all races and creeds.

Hey, 12:28:00 AM
LE is not alone in this feeling. M.D.s are also feeling trapped,
burned out, hopeless, used up by corporation, less and less
options; resorting to suicide. With the advent of corporate
medicine, hospitals closing, they have fewer and fewer places
to work, to start over. Was also happening back in 1970s
(as noted in the obituary section of Journal of American Medical
Association ("JAMA", the monthly magazine for Doctor's).
Descriptions were sometimes brutally frank: "suicide; gunshot
wound to the head."
p.s. now JAMA has been sanitized to be politically correct; no
mention of suicides

A proposed bill making its way through the New Hampshire legislature could strip law enforcement officers of the authority to use deadly force when making arrests.

Here's a good one. Fetal is the best solution.

2:56 pm---- Every day you make a difference in someone's life. Believe me, most people support the police. Don't let the beefers get you down. It is an honor to wear that uniform and serve and protect. Remember when you got your button and took the oath, the sense of pride and accomplishment that was giving you that warm fuzzy feeling. Always keep that in the back of your head, it will get you thru the dark times.

1/13/2019-you are right but It is not most people support the police. It is the overwhelming number of people who do. That is something you should never forget. I watched the LAPD 2016 Award Presentation on their website a while back. Charlie Beck presented and I will tell you as a troll reader very impressive. And I have watched some Lambert Tree Awards presented here; just as impressive. Thank you to all.
