Cops Can't Win
- A woman who was attacked by a pack of pit bulls while she was out for a walk said that the police officer who stopped to help save her life should be fired.
Gee, what did he do?
- A Taunton police officer was out on patrol, when he spotted the attack in progress [...]
The pack of dogs had already swarmed the defenseless woman, and the officer was unable to safely discharge his duty weapon without potentially striking her.
Instead, he quickly activated the lights and sirens on his patrol vehicle, which frightened the animals just long enough for the officer and a good Samaritan to get Rochelle into the cruiser.
Contrary to ignorant opinions, six-on-one are pretty poor odds and discharging a weapon in the neighborhood in close proximity to the victim is a tiny little bit dangerous. And everyone knows exactly who would be on the receiving end of a lawsuit should a bullet wander off course.
- Although the officer’s quick-thinking provided a brief window for Rochelle’s rescue, she and her daughter declared that he should have done more.
“I don’t want him to be working as a police officer who’s supposed to protect and serve,” Rochelle told WLNE. “I want him fired.”
Arianna claimed that the officer got back into his vehicle and locked the doors instead of jumping into the fight.
"You have a whole waistband full of weapons," she railed. "You could've shot the dogs individually, you could have tased them.”
Golly. For someone who wasn't anywhere nearby, she sure has a lot of uninformed opinions about tactics and officer's actual responsibilities. For one, we aren't required to needlessly endanger our own well being.

I've read several reports where officers used a taser on a dog, it shook itself, and kept coming at the officer. I wouldn't count on that.

I’m actually surprised that there are not more dogs attacking people and other dogs. Seeing more and more dog owners walking their dog without a leash on. The unleashed dog may not be people aggressive but many are other dog aggressive. Before you know it, it’s too late.
This is like the stupid women surrounding the animals downtown when they were attacking innocent people so the police would not arrest the scum. When the animals hopefully will give these woman a 'taste of Chicago," next time they visit and they will cal "police help," as we smile and wave and protect ourselves and our jobs!

in a hunting pack. Even though she was not hurt, the woman
should ask the home owner the contact details of the
insurance company.

My guess is that none of the dogs have ever been vaccinated or seen a veterinarian, and that the "owner" is a ghetto breeder for people who want fighting dogs. As for the victim, she's lucky she still has skin and can walk. A few years ago in Dayton Ohio, a woman was killed by a roaming pit. She was getting the mail out of her mailbox and the dog jumped her from behind, knocked her down and went for her throat immediately. Ghetto trash that owned the dog left town the same day.
The Shyster that takes this case should be disbarred. And the fugly hood rats involved given a one way bus ticket to Florida. Let them make friends with the gators.

You assume they own a house, are insured and report that they six pit bulls.
I agree, pit bulls are only good for protecting a junk yard. More and more news stories about them picking apart their owners and strangers. No good!
Years ago a north side district gave out a "disturbance with the wild dog" to a wagon. On arrival there was a wild dog snarling and snapping at people in their cars. The wagon rolled up on the dog and tried to get at one officer. He drew his 9mm pistol and fired, hitting the pitbull in the head. The dog stopped his rampage for a minute, then shook it off, now madder than ever.
So the wagon drives down the street to the intersection, turns around and returns. The dog is as mad as all hell.
But this time the other officer pulled his .45 pistol and shot the dog in the head.
The issue was over.
Except for the citizen's complaint about the officer's cold blooded execution of the dog.
I've had to break up fights with pits. They are a bit different. One thing that was dog in military dog handling school that works on dobies and rotts, but not pits, is the squeeze and kink of the windpipe trick. Imagine when that didn't work? Not the time to learn when the dog has a lock on anther pooch. Found out real quick that putting something else to keep the jaw propped worked well. Definitely a cheap thrill though. That being said, they are not aggressive in the same way other breeds are. They don't have be be angry; they just love to lock their jaws. If an owner wants to play ghetto player and drives a poorly bred dog over the edge though; we have a problem that requires a high powered round for a definitive solution
