Wilding Stopped
- There was a massive police presence in West Town at Chicago Avenue and Oakley Boulevard Saturday night.
At least 20 squad cars responded to reports of a large group of teens getting ready to fight in the street.
The teens scattered as police arrived.
Officials said no one was hurt.
There's video at the link and it looks impressive. But here's a little secret.
This is it - that's the entire number of people that can be thrown into this type of situation. There is no reserve. If there's a second wilding somewhere else, no one is coming. The Department might be able to rustle up a few Summer Mobile people, maybe even a Saturation Team. If they start paying Tact Teams OT to be downtown on one of their days off, they could have a reserve force. But that has to be approved by people who are realizing the entire year's OT budget is going to be gone long before 04 July.

I remember tha tnasty burger joint when it was Pepe's hotdogs. Never any problems over there. If you did, you'd be trunked and taken to a basement where you'd answer for your actions. Now you have patrons at Mr Brown's lounge across the street and hipsters at the burger place. I stay clear of that area now and I use Grand Ave when I go visit family.

That’s the reason the Dept had three gang units when they got rid or them they createdSO S. Got rid or that. Had Tru and a few other similar units that could be redeployed instantly. Will never happen again. Not enough blue shirts in the districts and the sept screwed almost everyone who went to those units when they broke them up. You never hear a word about making the parent(s) responsible. What ever happened to all those curfew fines? Only for the people they know will pay just like the ANOVs. If their ever was discrimination go to Superior and see who actually pays their fines .
Service animals and "comfort dogs" are not the same thing. A service animal for someone with PTSD is specially trained and the cost of these animals ranges from $15,000 up to $50,000.
The crazy part of the law is nobody, employers, businesses, landlords, etc. is allowed to request nor demand of a person to show proof their animal is a service animal. Nor can you ask why the animal is needed. The only questions you are allowed to as are, "Is the animal a service animal?" and "Is it required to assist you with a disability?" You man not ask what that disability is.
The fact that the guy offered to show some kind of proof that he had PTSD is a dead giveaway the dog isn't a service animal. People that legitimately require a service animal are knowledgeable of the ADA Act and know that don't have do anything more than tell you the animal is a service animal and that it assists them with a disability. They don't have to tell anyone what that disability is.
Service animals aren't required to have any vests, scarfs, kerchiefs, tags or anything else on them nor is the person with the animal required to show any kinds of written proof it is a service animal or that they have a disability.
Businesses can't deny a person with a service animal entry into their business nor can they require them to use or sit in any special area.
If the service animal should pose a threat to other people or becomes disruptive the business personnel or employer is then allowed to inform the owner the service animal must leave the premises however, the person with the disability must be allowed to return without the service animal if they so choose to do so. For example, if in a restaurant, the dog growls at the waiters every time they walk near the animal or if in a theater, the dog starts barking the animal can be put out. The animal relieving itself in the station clearly poses a health hazard and should have been removed even if it was a real and needed service animal.
When you see people with all these vests, identification tags and neckerchiefs on an animal that is usually a dead giveaway the animal isn't a real service animal. People that actually have one know that none of those things are required.

Remember when you would swoop down on the drinking parties in the park and everyone fled leaving behind cases of beer for you to cleanup. After about four swoops they finally figured it out and stood their ground.

Personally I would try to stand back and let it happen to the degree it starts crushing business and tourism (I am sure it already has an effect but it needs to hit critical mass). These wilding gangs of "youths" were extremely common in New York City when I lived there 1985-91. My roommate was attacked by one of these wilding gangs - they are very Charles Dikens Oliver Twist types of youth criminals with an older gang organizer and boys as young as 11 and 12 being trained how to rob, attack and get away with their crimes because they are in groups and also because they are young and the authorities feel sorry for the boys and come up with lame excuses that they are just bored and don't have positive social clubs, programs etc.
These wilding gangs of youths will keep doing what they are now doing, pushing for a bit more and more until something extremely bad goes down like the wilding gang that rob attacked many people in New York's Central Park resulting in one (White) Central Park jogger being taken down gang raped and left for dead.
