Front Row Seat

So the aldercreature gets a bunch of parents complaining about fights at the local high school. He arrives and is greeted with....guess what?
  • More videos are surfacing of fight after fight at Sarah E. Goode STEM Academy on Chicago’s South Side, and in a letter to parents, the school said there were five physical altercations at the school Thursday. They say no one was injured, but now the ward’s alderman is speaking out.

“It was chaos everywhere,” said 18th Ward Ald. Derrick Curtis. Curtis said he saw two girls swinging at each other when he was visiting the school. It was an all-out brawl between students that ended with an appearance by Chicago police.

The ironic part is he was at the school to meet with the principal about the brawls after receiving videos of the fights sent to his office by concerned parents.
Irony is "a state of affairs that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result." This was definitely amusing on a certain level, but far from "contrary to what one expects."
  • The Chicago Police Department said they’ve been called to the school about 20 times since January for disturbances, reckless conduct and batteries.

Curtis said he knew the problem was bad but not this bad.

“To me, there was no consequences,” he said. “It seemed like the norm.”
There's that thought again - "no consequences" and "seemed like the norm."

Why is that a recurring theme in certain "communities"?

We can't make heads or tails of it.

Was it the ACLU that said guns/police are disruptive to a school's learning environment?

Have they provided an opinion on whether or not fighting among students is disruptive?

They want to solve their own problems, so let them. Nothing good will come from sending in the cops. The first time they have to use force it will be "Police Brutality" and the lawsuits will be filed and the police will be blamed for it all. Let them work it out as long as it's just fists a black eye beats a bullet any day. Let the little darlings beat each other to death.

Isn't that a STEM school over by Ford City? Use the fights as a teaching moment: " If 2 'girls' are fighting for 12 minutes before lunch; Then resume fighting for 18 minutes after lunch, what is the combined total fight minutes?

Or switch focus to MMA fighting. I sure wouldn't step in between a couple feral female fighters.

To CPS it’s called Restorative Justice. What a joke . And what was observed is a daily occurrence at most CPS schools. A project out of University of Chicago and the new bread of CPS principals. You asked for it now you have it. Now what do we do? A broken system.Mass chaotic unsafe schools. Poll the teachers system wide they will tell the truth of a unrepairable, corrupt system . Everyone passes, no standards on attendance, no homework and all the data submitted is inaccurate. All good here just keep sending more tax dollars.

Aah.....remember the good old days of ALL communities, where if you misbehaved at school, and parents were called, you were scared shitless because you knew you were in deep trouble once your parents got there? That teachers and police officers were believed when they told you what your little "Angel" was doing? What has happened to this society? Why are the children so mean and aggressive nowadays? Hell, back then we were ALL poor......didn't have much, not a lot of food in the fridge, clothes mostly hand-me-downs or Goodwill seconds.....but we were taught right from wrong, good versus bad, civility, respect for others, and that getting an education was the way out.....
Guess it all comes back to parenting....or complete lack of it nowadays.....maybe at those Spring Break camps that have been suggested we could teach our young people a thing or two! (Yes, that's sarcasm) Gotta love seeing an enlightened alder-creature.

It’s not disruptive, it’s the norm. Calling police just escalates the situation and provides no lasting results. Maybe it was just a disagreement over a science project or a calculus concept. Let the folks figure it out for themselves. Maybe have someone they look up to like Kim Fox come to the school and scold them.

This is the result of a couple generations of the soft racism of diminished expectations will give you. The new policy of “cultural sensitivity” is just the latest version of “the authorities” telling “the community” that they aren’t capable of acting like civilized, decent people.

The activists, “community leaders” and other race-baiters tell us that it’s all due to poverty and “oppression”, but that sort of treatment didn’t seem to keep the Chinese immigrants down, nor does it seem to be having the same degree of impact on Hispanics.

If people in power repeatedly tell a group of people that they aren’t able to act in a civilized, moral and responsible way, eventually many, if not most, of the people in that group will BELIEVE it. After all, it would take an especially strong person to NOT use the “get out of jail free” (in Chicago, that’s quite literally what is happening) card the politicians and “community leaders” have given them.

Enjoy the Spring - it’s going to be a long, hot, bloody Summer. The politicians and activists have sown the wind and the citizens (and police) will be reaping the whirlwind.

No, no, these weren't brawls. It just looked that way.

The female students were 'debating' who was more important to 19th Century English Prose; Byron, Keats, or Shelly.

And the male students were 'discussing' who had a greater impact on 20th Century Physics; Albert Einstein and his discovery of E=mc2, or Stephen Hawking and his work on Black Holes and Hawking Radiation.

So there was nothing to see here, move along now.

ps: putting fancy names on these schools like Career Academy & STEM reeeeally improved things, didn't they.

So the police have not lied or exaggerating all these years.
The press, parents, teachers, staff etc. has been telling the real
account of the brutal racist police tactics. What a group of failures.
keep making the bad decisions hoping to get a different result.
Perhaps a trip to Florida would have prevented the disruptions
and fights. Remember kids just funnin, not savages.

Hahaha and what does the alderman plan to do about it? More security won’t make the shit heads not want to fight. They hate the police and don’t want us in schools, not like our presence means anything anyways. Counseling? Hahaha! What’s funny is, these assholes are having to deal with the very problems all their pandering and policies created, but still don’t get it. Nothing you can do about it at this point, not for this generation. Got kids that are this mentally, emotionally and behaviorally fucked in high school? Damn near all of them are in for a shitty life, they’re too far gone now. Start fucking up the next generation now! Maybe we can get some kindergarteners into a WWE royal rumble.

You would think that these kids are smart enough (going to a school supposedly teaching the academic disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)) to AVOID brawls, fights, and fisticuffs. So much much for that idea. Apparently the attempt to edumacate dese yutes has been a failure.

As to the "aldermanic arrest" comment 5/6/2019 at 4:33 a.m.; yes Virginia, they are so empowered, but have to complete a training course approved by the Law Enforcement Training Board:

(65 ILCS 5/3.1-15-25) (from Ch. 24, par. 3.1-15-25)
Sec. 3.1-15-25. Conservators of the peace; service of warrants.
(a) After receiving a certificate attesting to the successful completion of a training course administered by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board, the mayor, aldermen, president, trustees, marshal, deputy marshals, and policemen in municipalities shall be conservators of the peace. Those persons and others authorized by ordinance shall have power (i) to arrest or cause to be arrested, with or without process, all persons who break the peace or are found violating any municipal ordinance or any criminal law of the State, (ii) to commit arrested persons for examination, (iii) if necessary, to detain arrested persons in custody over night or Sunday in any safe place or until they can be brought before the proper court, and (iv) to exercise all other powers as conservators of the peace prescribed by the corporate authorities.

If my 1980’s movie watching has taught me anything, all of this schools problems can be solved by bringing in a liberal white female principal who will improve the school through “better understanding” the challenges the students face, or bring in an older, strict, demanding, but proven, father-figure like male black who can help the students pass the state’s standardized test that is coming up in a few weeks.

Alderman Curtis should inquire about CPS's restorative justice practices. Teachers openly discouraged from adhering to the Student Code of Conduct. In fact, it's as if it does not exist. The police who work in buildings are actively undermined by administration leaving teachers completely frustrated and students free to do whatever, whenever they like.

Not the first time and won’t be the last but if they’ve allowed bad behavior at home, community and in school.
Whether it’s truancy, acting up or serious criminal intentions, there’s no juvenile justice and/or expulsion.
Gotta wonder what solution the tolerant accepting CPS will come to.
All those tax dollars and the faculty is stymied by a bunch of wilding downtowners.
Expect LightLoafer to have an expensive solution.

I commend the alderman for going to the school, which is something unheard of unless there’s a political advantage and opportunity.
As well as the principal, but really why are they trying to do here, pawn off responsibility?
A concerned effort to make it a police problem to solely deal with?

Whatever happened to the parent-guardian?
Call the police and blame them for going overboard, excessive man handling, oh and distrust too.
Anyone know how many CPS “Montefiore” schools there are or do they call them all Alternative schools now?

Try not get sucked into CPS matters.
It’s by their own by-laws and rules to be in charge.
Sit back, mediate and watch is a good approach, it’s what the staff and administration does.

Take them out of the schools and have the officers roam the schools. Let them call 911 when a fight breaks out that security can't control. The fight will already be over or they will be really tired when we get there. Use time as a tactic to lessen liability. Continue to give them the department they ask for, demand, and richly deserve.

CPS is another corrupt city organ that doesn't work. Even the Community realizes the craziness of the school system. Corruption perpetuates itself with the intended results. Its the failure of the Community, the family parenting, civil behavior and the city that sanctions the whole corrupt system.

There is no respect for laws, civil order and decency. A once great city has hit its tipping point and is well on its way into a death spiral joining the ranks of Baltimore and Detroit.

Meet the minimum requirements, reduce your risk factors, protect yourselves and watch city government slide further into the chaos under new mismanagement.
