Shots Fired Overnight
- A man has died after his shooting led to a gunbattle between Chicago police and the suspects Friday night in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
A 25th District tactical car was on patrol about 8:20 p.m. near Lawndale Avenue and Division Street when officers in the car saw a man getting shot and the gunman fleeing on foot, police said.
The officers jumped out of their car and began chasing the gunman, who turned and fired at them.
In an attempt to apprehend the suspect, two officers fired their weapons, police spokesman [...] told reporters at a news conference at the scene late Friday.
[...] said police do not believe the officers hit anyone. He said the gunman got into a waiting vehicle and sped away but that police found his gun.

Answering from an older post. No kids or pets allowed to march at St Jude. All are welcome along the parade route but they cannot walk with any Units. They are trying to bring the parade back to a march to honor the fallen, and move away from it being a walk in the park. They should really move it back onto Michigan Avenue, but at least they're trying to make it more respectable and respectful by having officers march to honor those who lost their lives or had their lives taken.

Getting shot at is no joke. To the jokers who don’t understand the seriousness of it, get the fuck off this job. Was it worth it? When your ass gets shot off duty, I hope no one chases the shooter. I just saw a PPO that looked absolutely terrified at a minor crime scene. How the fck is she going to handle this Summer? The academy can never replicate the negative vibes you get from certain neighborhoods.

God, there are so many things wrong with this comment I don't even know where to begin. Okay, here it goes:
1) First of all, it's impossible for two years to prepare anybody to work gang, tac, or a unit in the ghetto. It's also impossible to have two quality years on this job when your first year is spent predominantly in the academy!!!!
2) That's the type of people that get hired in this day and age. I'm sure she will still make gang or tac eventually because it's not a very sought after spot among cops with some brains.
3) Being eager and unafraid does not necessarily equal courage. It can sometimes signify an out of control ego or a general lack of understanding of the possible dangers that they are encountering.

had a brunch 4 anyone 2 come after march, very bonding back then!
