Hey Graham?

You might want to think about filing for arbitration.

Immediately.

We're just saying, after watching the City Council meeting and reviewing Lightgroot's statements this past weekend, we'd all be better off.

Another proposal the F.O.P should look into is that any holiday and the two days before and after that are mandatorily canceled should be paid at triple time. This should be considered a job and not someones life. We would like to spend time with our families on the rare occasions we are off holidays. Holidays are not emergency events.

We better get all the pay increases we can! They are raising taxes and fees! Also they want to increase the minimum wage, which decreases our buying power! We will be the losers if we don’t get a huge pay increase!

Keep voting DemocRATS! The DemocRATS party is not the same party as it was in the 70’s or 80’s. They are walking you all into the poor house! You are all going freely! Oh and your house isn’t going to be worth anything! Wait, when they build all those prefabricated house for 40% less, if the taxs doesn’t drive the value down enough, than new homes being built for just about half will.

What everyone reading the blog no longer has is much time! Sell, rent, retire, move and vote another party!

"While dealing with violence remains a top concern, Lightfoot also announced a new push for accountability for police officers and aldermen alike."

"It's long overdue that the City Council act swiftly in the first 100 days to pass the ordinance proposed by the Grass Roots Alliance for Police Accountability, or GAPA, to create civilian oversight of the Chicago Police Department." (ABC7 News reporting)

The Democrats are brilliant at creating strawman situations. They can't and won't hold their base accountable and responsible for the violence because they need their votes, plus if they said anything about the community there would be even more hell to pay. Just remember poverty is causing crime. It even causes rapes! Send in even more money to the community, that will fix the problem! Create a diversion go after the police, blame them, hold them accountable, stick it in their ass, they will take it and do nothing about it.

With the Federal minimum wage at $7.25 and Chicago wanting to increase the minimum wage to $15.00 an hour we should get a hefty raise. We should get double the National average. Are liquidity potential is being negatively affected when we pay more for services or purchases with such a high minimum wage. We should be up to 150,000 a year at 9161, to keep up with the costs that are put on us. As far as the contact goes who cares. Just pay us. The city is not going to be around in 50 years. The dam politicians messed the place up.

Both parties have to make a reasonable attempt to negotiate before an impasse can be declared. Then you can go to arbitration, they have been trying recently. It probably will come soon. They have to present us an offer before arbitration begins.

Last time around duty availability was stripped from us and the city agreed to buy new squad cars as a "benefit." As if the city wouldn't need to buy new squad cars at some point anyway. So triple pay more than likely is out of reach.
My partner hits the medical each time his RDO is canceled. I can't blame him for it, he always says WTF is the point of pushing a beat car in patrol if the city violates the agreement anyway. Patrol is shit on and abused like any other unit in this Department.

We need to top out at 4.5 years like settle 106,000.00.
I am a young officer (otj over 2 years). I still do some proactive police work( I know the veterans will say I’m stupid). I am starting to contemplate about becoming fetal. With the ungrateful city council and some of the citizens in this city why should I go out there and bust my ass and rick losing it all for nothing. Because I am starting to realize that this city and department will throw us under the bus like it was nothing. I love this job, it’s all I wanted since I was a kid. I still believe it’s the best job in the world. But with this anti police city Council I am losing hope. This city Council acts like we are the ones committing the crime. So like I said earlier, I truly believe that being fetal is in my near future, it’s the best thing to do for my livelihood and future, until we get a city council that supports us.

So F.O.P. Get off of your lazy asses and get us a fair contract or we will vote you out.
Also stop siting around doing nothing while we get blasted in the media all day long. # DO SOMETHING!!!!
Get us 100,000.00 or more after 5 years otj. That outdated pay scale needs to go.
The cost of living in this city just keeps going up.
We deserve it with all the excessive accountability and more responsibility that they keep throwing at us.

What we need now is unity and not in-fighting. Most of the members do not have the slightest idea what goes into contract talks. I recently retired but was involved in the discussions until I left and I gotta tell you the talks were confrontational and loud many times. We went back and forth and this has to be done until you reach a point where there is no meaningful discussion. When that happens you file your intent to go to an arbitrator. If you file too early you will be told to go back to the table and try again. I dont have the same horses in the race as you working guys/gals but no matter who is in the hot seats at FOP, they need our support. Be Safe!

At board meeting in October 2017, a motion was brought to the floor by greg bella to not intervene in the consent decree. This after Kevin Graham had been told multiple time by board members that Lisa Madigan was on bullshit from the get go. A motion was brought to the floor by Greg Bella to not intervene and leave as is. This vote speaks for itself:

VOTED TO NOT INTERVENE:
Jay Ryan - 3rd Vp
Mike Garza - financial sec
Greg Bella - recording sec
John Capparelli - treasurer
Jim jaksavitch - sgt / arms
Bill Burns - sgt / arms
Dean Angelo
Harold brown
Andy Cantore
Carlos Salazar
Mike Mette
Sergio Escobedo
Joe Gentile
Dan Gorman
Frank Quinn
Ron Shogren
Pat Duckhorn
Ken Hauser
Rick King

Voted TO Intervene

Murray - 1st Vp
Prieb - 2nd Vp
Trevino
Mike Underwood
Bill Dougherty
Mark Donahue
Mark Tamlo
Fernando Flores

The bottom line was this: Lisa Madigan had full control and we had none unless we got involved. Now we are stuck with this for years to come.

As to FOP "looking into" any new proposal, it's too late. There is a system here. All of the proposals were voted on at the beginning of negotiations almost 2 years ago. Also, we have bigger things to worry about rather than a day off being cancelled. Haven't you heard about the new Discipline Matrix the city gave FOP? Okay, let's get paid triple time for a cancelled day off but get suspended for 21 days for profanity. Wake up people.

What's the saying??? "Keep what we got, don't give nothing up.

Amen. The FOP is complicit in this. Not an emergency. How about restricted time due and if you are RDO, then you’re RDO. Open up an overtime initiative a month in advance so people can volunteer to work it if they want. Add the triple time and you’ll fill the sheets.

You are probably not going to see any meaningful contract negotiations for at least a year. Not that there have been any so far.

Lil Lori needs to get settled. She has to find her way around. She will have a battle with the aldermen over perks. Not as lively as Council Wars. Much more subtle.

The Police are the unwanted bastard step-children of the City. When the City does get ready to talk contract, look for the media to spew its anti-police spiel.

There is no money to give you. Everything of value has either been sold off in a sweetheart inside deal or stolen.

Taxes are about 2% in Illinois. 1% in Indiana, capped by law. So if you have a $600k house in Illinois you are paying $1k a month in proerty tax. In indiana its $500. You look in McHenry COunty and the property values have not risen in 20 years. I have a multi unit on my block in Portage Park that LOST value since the early 2000's LOST VALUE. It's a nice building too. I can go on and on. In North Center they had a big story - if you have a $1.2 M home, which happens there, you are paying $24k PER FUCKING YEAR FOR THE PLEASURE OF LIVING IN THIS SHITHOLE CITY. Then turn on the news and find out how YOU are responsible for the crime rate. ANd the first thing our diabetic Governor does is legalize pot. Really?? Liberals ruin shit, that's what they do.

Another thing the 10 year working day furlough, how has it been possible for all these years? The city is charging me a vacation day on my RDO for a day that I am not even scheduled to be here. it takes me 10 years of service to be able to have a regular furlough in which I am not charged a vacation day on my RDO. This makes absolutely no sense. Also we are the only police department in the nation where it takes 25 years to top out at maximum salary this is absolutely absurd Kevin put that sandwich down pick up the phone and start doing your job.
